Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

Whoopie, #5645...have no idea where that places me, but I'm guessing somewhere in the middle!

Will it tell you on your bib what coral you are starting in? We're 10360 for our relay team. I can't imagine we're in the last coral since I submitted proof of time for a 10k I ran. I'm running the second leg, so I guess it doesn't matter much to me, but SIL will need to know!

:

Guessing your SIL is in corral A For relay runner's it seems as though you take the one off for a relative comparison with non-relay runners.

Well that's just fabulous. They put my shirt size as an XL when I requested an XS... GRRR.... I guess I'll bring my Active.com receipt with me because I do not want an XL shirt. Is there something that I can do about this prior??

I would call the number to see. Otherwise you are destined to a last minute visit at the expo for a trade. On the smaller events, Disney has not very good about allowing size trades early in the expo.

At least they got the X right;).

My bib is 4719, DH is 4721

Still cannot find anyone to come to the house to watch our kids...looks like Plan B (the in-laws will have to take my kids with them to see their cousins and they'll be watching 5 kids instead of my 2 as originally planned) It sucks b/c that means my kids will be missing two days of school, religion, soccer games but the only other solution would be if I stay behind to watch them.

I feel so bad for you! I hate it when family "flakes out" on something like this. Hopefully they understand the bind they've put you in... not that it would help solve the problem, but maybe it would make you feel better! :sad2:

Those aren't really corrals. Most corralled races have actually separated off sections where you can't walk from one to another without showing your bib with your corral (or race number) on it. What you described are not uncommon at smaller races and are more suggestions for lining up according to pace. I'm not surprised with that setup that the numbers didn't correspond to times.

ToT did not use corrals. They did have signs to get people separated by pace, but it was an honor system, unenforced, informal sort of thing. I can tell you alot of people ignored it.

I have to say that I really appreciated the wave start in Philly. Wish Disney could do something like that.

Just downloaded my splits from Philly. They are quite telling where I bonked.

The first 5k took me 30:04 (PR is 27:47)
The last 5k (after having run 10 miles) took me 36:45

All Disney half and full races are waved. Not like Competive's RNR but waved nonetheless. Well, last year's Princess was waves by corral. The question is open on the W&D.... I would bet that a wave is in order just to get folks through the first corner with few problems.

Just logged in and found out that I am Bib #300, I registered the day it opened up so it must go by this, I did run the Disney Half back in 2008 at 1:46 and submitted that also, so who knows.

Good luck to all, I am so fired up to run this and go to the food and wine festival.

That really stinks. My parents have done this before - said they'd watch out kids, and then forgotten and planned a vacation! Thank goodness my in-laws are better. My mother-in-law asked me about 4 times when we were going though, and I finally had to insist she just mark it on her calendar! I understand your anxiety about them missing things, but if you and your DH have trained for this, then let the kids miss a couple of days. You're setting a great example of making your health a priority for them!:goodvibes

I'm pretty sure it's not by registration. I registered very late and I'm 1794

I'm beginning to think running is a mental illness. :) In mile 12 on Sunday, I never wanted to run again. Now I'm plotting if I can PR in Orlando. popcorn::

:rotfl: Onemoremile has a tshirt that reads, "This Seemed Like A Good Idea Three Months Ago".

LOL. I think wearing my Philadelphia Half tech tee for the race would be proof of stupidity enough, but with a low of 71, and a high of 88, I'm probably racing with just a sports bra.

I've been reading this thread, because, once upon a time, I wanted to run this race. The timing didn't work out, but I've been living vicariously through you guys. I think I'm doing the Goofy now though, so it's okay.;)

I just wanted to tell roomthreeseventeen that I totally relate. I was so prepared for my half in April. Trained for 4 months, trained fast and hard. So, when, at mile 10, I hit the wall and decided I was never going to run again, I was surprised. I even started whimpering at one point. Not from pain, just from the mental exhaustion of knowing I had more to go. Now, here I am thinking about 39.3. I don't quite know what I'm thinking, but I'm going to have to buy that tshirt!!!:lmao:
