In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Hi everyone!

I have been laughing my **** off at the entire zhu zhu extravaganza. From Lisa being the good witch of the north to Erika in Rambo mode and Lyz making covert moves on the drug store man! :lmao:

Erika - this post is dedicated to you. Ya know how you have provided all the info on how bad milk is and how much we as humans eat dairy that any other animals stear clear from once weaned...well I wish my dumb @ss would have listened to that info and taken it to heart.

Last Wed I started getting ill. By Thursday night my stomach was distended into the size of a 10 pound child. My sister at my home said - I needed to go in that she was scared looking at me. I felt like the girl on Willy Wonka that kept blowing up.

I weighed myself and I was up 8 pounds since Tuesday with normal eating.

I went to the ER and was there with Dan for 4 hours and tests, blood work and they could not come up with nada. Kept giving me gas X type meds for the bloating and pain meds. Told me to make an appointment with my doc on Monday ASAP.

No rich foods, no caffeine, no chocolate and stayed away from heavy grains.

Symptoms worsened and Sat went to Urgent Care crying. Saw a doctor I had never seen, she reviewed ER tests and she had me write down everything I had been eating/taking.

After she read my info - she says. "I think you might be lactose intollerant." :confused3

She and I sit side by side and pull up all this info and it talks about heart racing, palpatations, menstrual cycle being afflicted and huge stomach pain and bloating. Guess what another huge product of lactose is besides dairy?

Gas X related medicine.

So since Sat at 5 p.m. I have omitted dairy from my system 100% and you know me - I was a dairy fiend. Hello - willing to suck up calories for whole milk kind of girl.

I am down 10 pounds. No joke. I feel amazing and yesterday - had a small glass of milk (4 oz)to see if I was crazy - same symptoms within 20 minutes.

Met with a food allergy specialist this morning and they said that you can build slowly to a lactose allergy and not know what it is because ther syptoms are so varied and wide spread and seem not like they are related.

30% of the population by the time they are 40 have this.

So times when I knew I had just eaten something, worried about the glueten issue and like you said Erika - it made no sense because A. I was overweight and so my body dumping calories it could not absorb made no sense and B. it did not happen all the time with flour products. Well when it happened - it was flour and dairy.

Pizza, burritos, etc. Cheese, sour cream products combined with flour and because I have had dairy my whole life - I did not know it was something you could develop.

Most people can have a bit of dairy here and there and take a med like lactaid before consuming - hard cheeses seem to be okay.

Because of my huge reaction though - 3 weeks solid of none is ideal and then take it slow introducing foods with a bed and restroom nearby.

I wish to God above I would have listened to you more than just suggestions about weight loss regarding dairy. I just never linked it with my health garbage.

That is the big news from me. I guess it is a signal that if you are having medical symptoms - be persistant until you find the answer. I just gave up after awhile and all this time feeling bad for stupid dairy? So not worth it.

Exciting news - Fort Lewis just played in the semi-finals and won 8-2 so they are in the NCAAII final soccer game on Sat. Great soccer.

We leave for Florida on the 16th and I am not ready. Need to pack so much for everyone.
Burn Unit Christmas Party tonight. Excited to see many families again.

Going back to Water aerobics tom. went 2 days after missing a week with Tom and then all this stomach crud.

Glad to be down the 10 but still feel like I am tired and I did not when I was excersizing. Not sleeping as well either.

Lisa - great loss for this challenge!
E - awesome 4 pounds!
Liz - yeah for the downward turn!

Paula - I am glad you have a great person on your side in the weight loss battle who cares as much for your inside as your outside.

Lee - sorry about the loss of a boy through your community.

Kelly - great TR and love the pics!

Ronda - tempting pic of the pie scraps!

Nancy - glad you were able to enjoy Seth home and glad he will be back soon!

Kat - sorry about your MIL. Hope she and you get better news.

Lyz - Christmas pics will be awsome this year!

Everyone I am missing - Hi!

Hi Dawn :goodvibes. I was just thinking about you this morning. Boy - it's wonderful to finally now what is going on, eh?

I'm going to mention this to Jean - she has ridiculous bloating - just awful uncomfortable stuff - that just came in the last few years and her doctor was doing a lot of tests just in case it was ovarian cancer - excessive bloating is a sign of OC. And has been perplexed. Good to know that it could be this although she eats little dairy.

Do you know, I actually think about going into CVS to look for them, even though you have all the stuff? I did make a Toys R Us run way back when...but it's so funny to read about this. So. Funny.

And this is my point exactly. Like, I have everything I need and Lyz has everything she needs. But I can't. stop. looking. :rotfl2:

God I love it when I'm right! :lmao:

Seriously, Dawn, I hope this is the answer you need. Time well tell, I guess, eh? But I still hold that most humans should limit their dairy regardless. It is just not natural. But that's my opinion. We won't get into the Great Milk Debate again. :lmao::rotfl2:

Lisa, does Jean drink soda? Carbonated beverages make me bloated. Also Lisa, I'm concerned about how much it cost to ship the boys to the USA. Chunk got here in 2 days!!!! I hope you didn't spend a fortune.

Dawn - Lactose intolerant - glad you know now!!

EriKa - I know!

Liz - you'd run over Chunk? lol.

Lisa - The other Zhu I got for Maddi is yellow. Her name is Pipsqueak. I hemmed and hawwed at which one to give her. The yellow with a star on it's back or the grey with a heart on it's back. The star won, cause I like stars, lol.

It's competitive juices just disguising themself behind an electronic rodent - that's all. :goodvibes

Long live the drive in whatever form!:surfweb:

And by the way, it just hit 70* here! In December! In Maine! Going for a run right now--in shorts!

I've said this to your partner in crime so here's yours - BITE ME!:lmao:

No, we only drink pop once in a blue moon. But thanks Lyz because it's very frustrating for her. Something's up but I also think some of it has to do with how overdeveloped her I was going to say transverse abdominals - but that's not it - her - crap my head - her ones at the top of her thighs. Anyway soccer overdevelops that area and pushes everything up. I know - only a crazy person could decipher anything I just said. I am aware.

HIP FLEXORS. HIP FLEXORS!!!! It's like a man's body. Where they are so developed that there is an illusion going on. But that's only part of it I'm sure.

Ah Pipsqueak. I'm going to look her up. So Chunk is a boy? :lmao:

God I love it when I'm right! :lmao:
I knew I owed you the chance to gloat cause I sure would have! ;)

You should have seen my reaction to the Doc. She started with the info about humans and dairy and I cut her off and said - I know. She say's you do? I said:

"Yes, I have a super freak dietary phenom friend out East who has been telling me this for 2 years and I was not accepting the info given and I am now finding out I am fat and not dairy friendly. Awesome."

She said - "You should listen to super freak friends."

:lmao:

Harder cheeses and cream (including sour cream) have very little lactose. Anything that you can eat on a low-carb diet, you can generally eat on a lactose intolerant-friendly diet.

I have been lactose intolerant since I was a kid. Move toward harder things and away from softer (velveeta, processed cheese, soft serve).

You made my day. Do you have any websites to offer help with the what to eat and what not to eat?

Is Feta cheese considered a hard cheese? I have never done low carb so not sure - I think I have an Atkins book somewhere so that might help.

I am just learning so it may sound stupid - but I assumed all dairy had lactose - why is it that some products have more than others? I would have thought that faux cheeses would have less than real cheeses.

Need to spend some time reading I see.

Do you use a lactaid med at times Kat? Never have.

What helps when you might eat something you did not know you would have an adverse reaction to - any suggestions or help is really appreciated. I guess I knew you were but forgot.

Dawn - Im not Lactose Intolerant, but I have noticed that too much milk makes me bloated, so I have cut it out by about 90% - I now only have it in tea, and Ive cut down to skimmed milk, which is really just white water! :lmao:

LisaV:
And Kelly the Love Rat was singing in NYC tonight. Lookin' all cute.

Do you know how long it took me to find this quote!! I take it you are talking about my lovely Mr Buble, or as I like to call him Mr DisneyGalUK number 2 :rotfl2:
My mum told me he'd switched the Christmas lights on in New York (how she knew this information I don't know!) and he looked delightful!

Emily doesn't know from Zhu Zhus. Thank you, Jesus. :rotfl2:

um hmmm. Just wait. 'round about December 20th she's going to put in an urgent letter to Santa...

Jean Claude!!!!! - ou es-tu Jean Claude - ou es-tu? :rotfl:

:rotfl2:

Really. But then again, this is Maine and that isn’t unusual. People either dress in fleece or camo.

Ah yes. But, if it's camo patterned fleece *that's* when you need to worry ;)

Ah Pipsqueak. I'm going to look her up. So Chunk is a boy? :lmao:

Wait. You mean to tell me you didn't check him out first? You know, peek under the hood? :rotfl2:

She said - "You should listen to super freak friends."

:lmao: Seriously. Hope this finally gives you the answers you've been looking for.

I'm taking 3 teenage girls to a concert tonight. Shinedown, Five for Fighting, Uncle Kracker, Aaron Lewis (Staind) & Train. Pray for me, please. :scared1:

oh - and Nate got his license today. :scared1::scared1::scared1: Drove himself to work tonight.

Feta is goat cheese, so YMMV there.

I used to use Lactaid milk... it seemed to help some? I switched to non-dairy fat-free creamer, instead, as I can't stand milk, I just use it for coffee. Milk has always made me sick, so I have a bad association with it, if that makes sense. My mother says I was like this from a weaning onward, and my dad has the same problems that I do.

I find I have the most problems if a large percentage of my intake for that 20-30 min is lactose-heavy, or worse, if I eat/drink something on an empty stomach. Like, I can have ice cream after a meal, but never as a snack. And soft serve (which is heavily milk-based) rips me up.

Sadly, the more "fat free" a dairy product is, the more lactose it has, as they substitute cream/fat for sugar ("-ose!).

I do think that an allergist visit is in order for anyone suspecting a food allergy or intolerance. They can help you make sure that you are eliminating the right things. When I was a kid, I spent a good portion of time getting tested for all of this. Jumping to conclusions is not the right thing to do in any health matter.

What a week! I am so glad it's almost over. I am way to old to be out until midnight through the week. Last night was my class Christmas party and we rocked the house. The food was amazing. We had pork tenderloin, oven-grilled veggies and a massive salad. Everybody else had taters, but I stayed away from them. I normally don't use salad dressing, but our hostess made homemade raspberry vinagrette with horseradish. Sounds gross, but it was to die for!

Of to the family fun night at Children's Museum. Be back later.

Kat makes a great point. Just go to the allergist. They do all these wacky tests and at the end they tell you what you are allergic to. It could be milk or it could be lactose...then again, it could be eggs.

Ok I found out that edit is hard. Does anybody know of any free disney ringtone sites?
