In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Lisa Z - you're a fitness instructor? How did I not know this? Did you tell us and I blanked out? What classes do you teach? Sorry if you've been through this already.

I teach a hi/lo aerobics class twice a week at the local community center. Been doing it for about 9 years -- gosh, I can't believe it's been that long! It's been a little stressful recently because there is a new director who is constantly sticking his head in the door to see how many people are there -- so it was very good to pack the house last night! :thumbsup2 I have a pretty stable group of regulars (or irregulars) who have been coming for years. They usually act as cruise directors for any newbies. Great people!

Anyway, I started doing it because I am normally pretty quiet -- I thought it would be a great way to step out of my comfort zone, having to stand up in front of a group of people and yell for an hour. Now I've become very fond of yelling, so maybe it's helped me too much. :hippie:

Have a great night, guys!

As you know, I don't get hungover. And you know I am not just blowing smoke. You have seen me drink copious amounts (including shots), sleep for like 4 hours, and then get up and go for a run. Then park tour all day.

But listen. Once upon a time, I DID get hangovers. In college. And the BEST, if not ONLY cure? MickyD's. My name is Erika and I approve this junk food episode. :rotfl2: Hope it did the trick.

Lyz--HI LAR IOUS. You know, you really are one of the funniest people I know. Love your style of humor!

Liz--sorry about the hangover, but you earned it right? Like, you tied one on good and proper! So if you are going to do it, do it big! And thank GOD the kids are playing along. You know, my kids are the same way. They instinctively KNOW when they have to be good. Like if J is sick (since I don't get that way! HA!), they just know to be quiet and chill out and stay out of the way.

Hey, can I ask a favor?

I would LOVE it if we would all post what we are having for dinner each night. Not for points or tracking reasons. It doesn't have to be diet-friendly or anything. Just to get ideas, etc.

For us tonight: Broccoli cheese soup (I make a really low fat version) and a side salad.

LisaZ--you are SO not a killer. We have all been a little off these last few days.

Thanks EriKa:hug: (I'm gonna use that at the bank too.)

SO THIS is brilliant! Cause dinner is the second hardest part of my day. No my life!

I'll have to post in arrears, as I don't usually know what I'm having for dinner until I'm standing infront of the seasoning packets, a throbbing bundle of stress, praying for divine intervention and hissing, "No! Begging for cotton candy fruit rollups doesn't mean you're going to get them! Now zip it, lock it and put it in your pocket." (Kat - see what your missing out on.)

Last night we had baked ziti. With rigatoni ironically, (I can't find ziti on the shelf.) browned hamburger, motz cheese, garlic parmesian sauce. 400 cals per serving. And lite Texas toast. 130 per piece.

Lisa - thanks for telling me! What sort of things do you make them do? How do you get ideas? How often do you change it up? How long are sessions, or is it class by class?

Erika - I need that recipe. I love broccoli cheese soup, but I never eat it anymore.

Dinner for me is up in the air. I might order out, just to complete this day of hung-over eating.

Erika, do you think you don't get hangovers because you just process stuff out of your body fast? Like, your liver is really working well?

My body really reacts to alcohol but not as much to caffeine. As you saw, I have to pound Diet Coke to get the lift. Which, weirdly, works about as well as 5 mins in a store. :rotfl:

I so want to wake up well rested tomorrow and detox. Fruit and veggies and water. Can't drink plain water hungover unless it's hot out, so i am drinking sparkling. I really hope I'll feel well enough to do spin tomorrow.

God, I hate that banana. How do we hide that horrible, phallic, mocking wiener? It's all like, Come and get it, ladies! Right here!

EXACTLY, Lyz! Dinner is truly one of the most stressful parts of my life.

For those that don't know, Lyz's husband and my husband have "issues" with dinner. Jeff can't repeat the same meal in a month. You know how some families have a "family favorite" and say things like "We love this so much we have it once a week!" Um, no. Not in his house. Now me, I could eat the same thing every day for a week. I don't care. But J has all kinds of rules. Like with the soup we are having tonight. We can only have soup once/week and only during the months of November - March. And there are rules like that about everything.

(Again, for those that don't know, it isn't like my husband is a dictator and I am a "kept woman" or anything. He has serious OCD. For real and true OCD, not just like he's anal.)

YES! Exactly! That is why I LOATHE that banana! But at least now Lyz hates it, too!

Hangovers--there is a secret. I will share it with you because I love you. The biggest reason we get hung over is due to dehydration. Really. So for every alcoholic drink I have (even a shot), I make myself drink a glass of water afterward. Maybe not a full 8 ozs., but at least 6. And I take 2 ibuprofen after the second drink, and 2 more before bed.

Oh--and the other part of not getting hungover is that I have a REALLY high tolerance. So it takes an enormous amount to get me hammered. Some say it is due to high muscle mass, but I don't think so. Even when I was a fatty I didn't get hungover.

Shaking head. Those are really specific guidelines. And you don't even eat meat. Goodness, your choices are limited. Do you have a spreadsheet? I understand. It the same but different at my hizzle.

"Kept woman" - you - :lmao:

YES--limited choices. That is why the stress. No spreadsheet, though I should!

Erika, check your cell voicemail. Asap.

Yes, you totally need a spreadsheet. That would have been my first move. Like right after you guys said hello for the first time in passing. :rotfl: Love my spreadsheets.

2. Recipe?
3. Hissing - cracked me up. LOVE IT.

The banana must go.

Yes. Water. Darn. I need to make this a rule. And the ibuprofen, too. Darn. I so need to make this a rule next time I go near beer!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Remember once upon a time LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AGO when Bruce dropped $3300 on a laptop????????? IT DIED THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!!

WHAT THE F!

Now i had to borrow my mothers to be able to keep up with classes while we ship it off to dell to be fixed. I can't believe it fried in less than two months...... i'm FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!

ok... now i have to go catch up on posts since i've been in the stone age since Friday night...... :headache:

LIZ--

• 3-5 cups fresh broccoli – chopped (depending on how much broccoli you want in the soup)
• 3 (14.5 ounce) cans vegetable or chicken broth
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 tsp. olive oil
• 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 cups fat free half and half (you can use skim, but the ff half and half works much better)
• 2-4 cups shredded sharp cheddar, depending on how cheesy you want it. (I use 2 cups of fat free cheddar and 1 cup regular, full fat cheddar.)
• 1 pinch ground pepper

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large pot over medium heat, saute onion in oil for 5 minutes, or to desired tenderness.
2. Add the flour to the onions and stir well, forming a pasty substance.
3. Gradually add the milk/half and half and stir until thick. Add the broth and the broccoli mixture and stir well. Keep on med-low heat for 10 minutes.
4. Then add the cheese, stirring until melted. Finally, add the pepper.
(Note: Be careful not to let the soup boil, or the cheese will break down.)

Thanks, babycakes! Going into the recipe binder!!!
