In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Okay, must go to bed now. Something or someone has taken over my mouth. :lmao: :rotfl:

And it's quite foreign to moi. :surfweb:

Now THAT is classic LYZ! Ha! Too funny!

Ok, so LIZ is making me post this. I didn't want to, but she says that I have to.

Next week Sunday I am doing a triathlon. Yes, while in Florida. On vacation.

It is just a short triathlon (1/2 mile swim, 12-mile bike, and 5k run). Why doing this while on vacation? Because who in hell would want to do one in Maine?!?!? It is cold here. And there are HILLS! Lots of them. Everywhere. Florida will be flat and warm. And this will give me license to eat and drink what I want while on vacation.

Unlike my Half that I did last month, I am not at all nervous for the tri. I have done each of these distances tons of times over. And I have been training...have done several training duathlons, etc. This will take less time than my Half, so I feel pretty confident going in.

It is just something I feel the need to do. Plus I want the t-shirt. It says Triathlete. How cool is that?

Okay, before bed...

Erika - that's really exciting. Really. I love triathlons. Used to turn on the Ironman as a child - just for fun. And watch from beginning to end. And follow races right now - long long long story.

Excited for you. Truly inspiring.

Lisa

Hey,

Will you do Race for a cure next year at FW? It's Olympic length though, eh? Geez I'm getting pumped already for you. I've already got you as a regular triathlete....... Yeah.

Can't wait to hear about your race. So excited.

Lisa

ERIKA! I am so excited for you! I could do the bike & run portion easy-peasy...but the SWIM? I'm a total recreational swimmer  I'd need to take lessons to work on (god this sounds bad...) stroke proficiency....

Have fun. Kick butt. Wear the shirt with pride!

I want to do a "muddy buddy" race. Trying to convince one of my friends that we *need* to do one! :thumbsup2

Heading out for a bike ride this a.m. before the rain gets here....

I feel alittle violated. How did we not know this? Hmmmmm?

And how exciting. And a tshirt. You SO should have a triathalon tshirt. Is J doing this to? Where is this located?

I'd need to work on stroke proficiency

b-ringgggg...bringgggg...um hello? Tag Fairy? Yes, I have one for you. Ummhmm. I KNOW! K. Bye.

:lmao: stroke proficiency! PRICELESS!

There is a muddy buddy at Disney. I would totally do that with you! Of course, you have to be willing to accept the turtle that is me...:rotfl2:

It is on the Atlantic coast side of FL, about 2 hours from WDW and near the Club Med where we will be for that part of our trip.

And I know I didn't tell anyone here about it. Truth be told, I only signed up for it about 2 weeks ago....it is definitely a last minute kind of a thing. Liz just happened to nail me on it and then made me post here.

OK VACATION DILEMMA--

I spent a good amount of time this morning going through my clothes to see what I want to pack. Tried a bunch of stuff on, etc. I have not been to Disney since losing weight. So while I have plenty of stuff that I have been wearing in the last few months, I actually have very little in the way of good park-touring clothes if that makes sense.

So anyway, I have the PERFECT pair of park-touring shorts. Perfect because they are super comfy, (they are khaki Patagonia cargo-style/hiking shorts), they are easy to get up/down for millions of bathroom trips throughout the day, they are made of that rip-stop type nylon fabric which means that they keep you cool and they dry really fast if they get wet (from a water ride or rain shower), and best of all the have several DEEP pockets, with velcro tabs, etx. This is essential for being the parks, as far as I am concerned.

So what is the dilemma? They are NOT flattering! Now, they would be totally cute if I was hiking the Appalachian Trail here in Maine or doing one of my back-woods camping trips. But otherwise, they make me look wider/bigger than I already am. And kinda butch. And I really want some fab pics of me this time since I am never in the photos. What to do?

I am going to to go to Kohl's and see if I can find anything. But it is October in Maine. All that will be available will be the dregs of the summer.

Don't wear the pants. Don't even take the pants. They are perfect. So what? It would be perfect to take a rolling suitcase into the parks but you are not doing that.

Take a light bag to hold all your doodads. Your kids are old enough you don't need tons.

Wear shorts or capris that will flatter your awesome new set of legs. You worked WAY too hard to hide them and then cringe over the pictures later.

When you were in boot camp where you imagining maintenance pants in the park? No. You were thinking, hot mama pants.

Your welcome J.

Just back from my bike ride - trying to thaw out now! Fall has definitely arrived here

I'm a functionality-freak....but Lyz is right. You don't want to look dowdy and frumpy in your vaca photos, do you? Yes, you want to be comfortable, but you want to turn heads for the RIGHT reasons

I use one of those athletic-style string backpacks to carry my essentials...easy to carry, lightweight, not too big, not too small....

Do go to Kohls...maybe you'll find something....I got a great stretch-denim skort there...oh so cute!

Um... weren't you all telling me not to buy the boring work jacket and to get something cute????

Erika - bring the hot mama pants.... you worked hard so now you get to flaunt it.... oh and have fun at the triathalon.... we will want a full report of course...

You guys were on fire last night.... hi-lar-ious....

I am off to get some laundry done and then off to do some coat shopping.... Here's hoping I can find something cute and functional....

talk to you later,
Paula

I have a question...

How are you getting your bike to Florida?? Can you check it???

Are you RIDING to Florida? :rotfl2: You totally could you know...Pit stop in Ct with me...then Liz in Jersey...then Kat....have an East Coast tour. :confused3

but really...how ya gettin' your bike?

Ok, good points about the shorts. I will see what else I can find. And I do take a bag in with me. The Overland Donner bag (right, Lyz? Natch. ;) ) This carries my camera and video camera, water bottles, extra batteries, etc. But I like to keep tickets, fastpasses, credit card, and cash in my pocket so I am not always rummaging through a bag. I MUST have pockets. And no, J can't just hold the tickets and fastpasses because then I would not be in control of them.

Nancy--I am using one of THEIR bikes! :scared1: The place that is sponsoring the tri has bikes available. I called and reserved one in my size, then I go the day or two before the race and they customize the fit. Then I can have it for the the couple of days before the race to get used to it. It is such a short distance, so I am not too worried about doing it on a foreign bike. And no...no clips. THAT I couldn't get used to in just 2 days.

And HI LAR IOUS about the East Coast Tour! That could actually be a totally fun road trip (but not bike trip!).

Um, Olympic length??? Are you HIGH?!?!?

Ummm did that. Done that. And was extremely anti-social and rearranging the glassware in my university pad. :lmao:

Here's the thought process. Saw the word triathlon. Triathlon, yeah, goes off in my head. Love it. Know about the WDW FW triathlon - Race for the Cure. Got very excited about the prospect of watching you do that. Actually cheering you on from the sidelines. And then went, oh - hmmmm, I remember it's a longer triathlon but was still pumped to see you.

I know it's longer than most. I don't know if I'm right about the length.

OMG. You've taken me back to a wonderful middle of the night memory. Our Simon Whitfield, out of nowhere, won triathlon gold in Sydney. And then eight years later OMF, yes F is for that - cover your ears Lyz, he comes from behind with nothing in his tank. At an age where they thought not much chance. Oh the race - looks like he's out of it - like a goner - passes one - passes two - end of the race - makes a push for the gold. I was going nuts!!!!!!!!! And he just doesn't have quite enough but grabs the silver.

Oh, how I love a triathlon....

Yeah Erika - love it. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Lisa

I'd love to do a triathlon myself :lovestruc ...but there's just one catch. I don't think they'll allow me to wear my orange "swimmy" things....or use a noodle during the swim portion.

Did I mention that I'm not a real swimmer???

That makes a lot of sense! Awesome that they will "fit" you and let you use it for a few days to get used to it...did that cost extra or is that just a nice perk that they offer?

See, this is why I love you. This made me laugh so hard and it's so true and it's so something I would say/think.

YES!!! Listen to the woman. She speaks the truth. That's the Divine Spook, yo.

Um... weren't you all telling me not to buy the boring work jacket and to get something cute????

YES, we were! And now Erika tries to betray the sisterhood by wearing frump shorts? Na-uh.

Erika - bring the hot mama pants.... you worked hard so now you get to flaunt it.... oh and have fun at the triathalon.... we will want a full report of course...

How did it go? Any cuteness?

I totally love this idea. She would have to drink with each of us, and we'd see if Erika really NEVER gets hungover! HA!

So, friends...a few things.

I went to buy new pj's yesterday and I got mediums and they FIT. A MEDIUM. Size 8-10. No kidding. This is like super HOMG to me.

Kat - get your sweet talking a$$ back on here. ASAP. No excuse.

And on the "get back to where you once belonged" theme, we need to talk tracking and exercise. Because I need to get fit and lean and look smoking hot. Ten 10lbs to lose is 10lbs, but I need my a$$ back in fitness mode. And I want to know what Kat is eating, and how far Lyz is walking, and the details of Nancy's rides and Lisa's videos, and how Paula did Friday night on JC food and it is totally unacceptable that we did not know about this tri. TOTALLY.

So start the posting, ladies. And Dan. And Dawn, please update us when you can, okay?

For me, today I ate pancakes at home, 4pts, with organic grapefruit marmalade - delish - 1pt (or 50 cals). Then we made lunch at home- one of those 1pt/90cal wraps - flatouts they are called - with 1/3 cup of lowfat mozzarella cheese and some cooked chicken breast with onion and garlic. Total points, 6. And then a 100 cal bag of pretzels.

I am making a round roast for dinner in the crockpot. I just stick it in with some water and bouillon cube, let it cook all day. I put some no-salt seasoning on it and some chopped onions in there, too. We'll have it over brown rice.

As for activity, none except for soccer game-watching, sheet changing, and floor sweeping. I want a nap, though! :)

Hi Lar Ious!

And on the "get back to where you once belonged" theme, we need to talk tracking and exercise.

Totally agree with this Liz. I have lost my mojo and need to find it. I am a dreadmill flunkie. I even got new shoes and have only used them once.

Today I am struggling with the headache from *(&&. And the girls are in the halloween parade tonight and I am dying over the thought of even driving them there. Cross your fingers for me.

Yeah - I'm with you too. Lost mojo. :headache: DH and I are going to Cacun (without kids :woohoo: ) right after Thanksgiving, and I really, really don't want to feel like I do right now! I need to be a bit more diligent! :rolleyes1

Liz started....I'll go next!

Today I biked....it was 45* and damp here this morning. We were under a bit of a time constraint, so we didn't go as far as I would have preferred....13.2 miles, approx 45 minutes. My legs felt like lead, as I did leg-work yesterday at the gym (No, Lyz....no popsicle stick squats for me yesterday.... )

And I've eaten CRAP all day. Well, not *all* day. I had a good breakfast - egg white omlet with mushrooms, and light rye bread, toasted with jam....and a pear and fiber 1 bar post-workout. From there it's been all down hill...and we are going out tonight. Once a month we get together with 3 other couples for dinner/cards...rotating homes, but we all bring something. I'm making stuffed mushrooms (yum-o!) But...tomorrow we are having family over because Nate is being confirmed in church.....so I'm currently working on a cake (vanilla w/choc mousse filling)....and, well, doing "quality control" as I go :scared: I feel completly nasty right now. :sad2:

On a positive note...Erika has me thinking Christmas shopping...so...I am! Hoping to get a jump-start here! :yay:

Nancy, great job on the bike ride! That's an awesome distance to be a "short" ride. I"m impressed.

That is a big deal, confirmation. How wonderful for your son.

Let us know how it went tonight with the friends and food! I LOVE stuffed mushrooms, too.

You know, I am always done Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving, too. I just knock it all out in November. I like to relax after Thanksgiving! And we keep our lists small, and Santa only brings Emily one toy. Yes, you read that right. She gets so much from family and friends, mom and dad don't buy her anything and Santa only drops off one toy. Books and clothes, maybe, but only one toy. So far it works, but she's only four!
