In case cold temps invade Disney in the winter months

Yes these are great lil things! Hubby has used them for years while hunting! You'll find them in the hunting section at WM .... be sure to get em now as hunting season is here!

Look for the multi paks... better prices and the stay good forever !!

But here is to hoping you never need them !!!

I went to Dollar store and got some of those Magic Gloves. These are small then they stretch to your hand size. They take up very little room and only cost $1/pair.

They have them at Walmart also with more design options for $1.50

Great tip on the hand warmers. I think I have a few left from pee wee football season, I will have to throw them in just incase.

I just left a message on my home message machine to put these on my Walmart list. Yes, Walmart has it's own list!

Thanks for the tip.

We've been at WDW when it's been FREEZING cold! (And my girls STILL rode on all the water rides!!) And the hand warmers do help! But, I just saw something on tv last night for those of us that have knees that stiffen up in the cold weather. It's like the handwarmers, but it wraps around your knee and it lasts up to 8 hours! I'm psyched! I'm only 37 and my knees would get so stiff I was miserable!! I think those will really help!

I love these... I've always used them at colder temperatures (like during winter camping when i'm hiking and it's snowing out, etc.) but it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring these to disney!

The handwarmers are great but after suffering through 5 out of 6 cold Christmas Disney trips, nothing beats silk long johns!

I just bought DH & DS some for their stockings to use at WDW. I also got me some to drag out, after they open theirs. I hope we don't need them for the CP Christmas Eve. ;) Someone mentioned that the stores run out of them, when hunting starts. Our store had lots of them. If you can't get them at home, maybe you can pick some up in Orlando. :wave2:

Thanks so much for the great idea, foxfire! I am chronically freezing, even when it's not that cold outside! I am really worried that even WITH all of the gloves and hats and scarves that I will still be freezing when we go in January, so this tip is perfect for us! My DS isn't great with the cold either, so he thought it was a good plan when we talked about it this morning.

When it is cold in Dallas I just don't go out!;)

Handwarmers and silk long johns if there is no Wal-Mart nearby???

Live in the city and no Wal-Mart nearby...do not drive so cannot get to one an hour away either:(

Suggestions, welcome, please!!

TIA!

Great tips...as I am going after the new year.. hoping for somewhat warm weather (but anything will be warmer than the northeast in January)..

A search of Amazon shows you can order handwarmers here -

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006MQG32/qid=1100805796/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl200/103-8990563-4076659?v=glance&s=sporting-goods&n=507846

A Google search came up with many places to order from, too. I typed in 'air activated hand warmers' in case you want to see what comes up for choices.

L.L Bean and Land's End sell the silk long johns.

Another option to those are Cuddle Duds. They aren't silk so not as expensive but they work great & are very comfy. I buy these at a local dept. store but they can be ordered online. Just do a Google search for 'Cuddle Duds'.

Hope this helps those trying to locate these items. I'm still hoping we won't need them but they're going with me, just in case. :D:sunny:

Thanks so much for the link, foxfire!

I have one of the cuddle duds already, so will get the hand warmers just to eb safe....can always use them in New England during winter anyway...sound good for shoveling snow!

Thanks again!

That's a good tip, but even on the COLDEST day at WDW I would not need handwarmers. Maybe skiing in the Catskills but not in WDW.

Have you been at WDW on one of the coldest days?? It is very cold! CM's are in warm hats, winter coats and wearing warm gloves..the wind chill can go right through you!

Maybe you have warm blood! But I am cold when it hits 40 with a wind chill of 32!

:):):)

You guys are starting to scare me! 40's with a wind chill of 32? YIKES! :earseek:

On that note, I have been checking out the long underwear. Lands' End has the silk for men and women for about $50 per set. Then you have to pay tax and shipping, which adds up. I saw Cuddle Duds at Foley's today in four different fabrics for about $50 per set. I also saw some at Target for about $25 per set but I am not sure how the fabric compares with the other Cuddle Duds. Lands' End was the only place I saw silk.

I did buy a coat for DS with the zip-out lining, so he can wear the shell, the jacket, or both. It also came with a hat and mittens! I haven't seen any long underwear for kids - probably have to look online.

We used gloves and fleece headbands a couple of nights last Jan (most nights we didn't) - what made the difference was the wind! For those of you travelling with little ones in strollers - the most valuable thing we brought with us was the plastic stroller rain cover for the baby - not for the rain, but for the wind and the cold - she was snug as a bug in there and could see everything just fine !! :smooth:

Try looking for nice inexpensive silk long johns at Marshalls, TJ Maxx. Not sure if any are in the stores yet. We'll never forget the WDW Christmas when people were walking around with socks on their hands because gloves were all sold out. Saw a few people layered in bathrobes!
