In and Out in a Day

Happy Monday everyone.

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day.

Marilyn ~ I hope you get the MRI soon so you will feel better. You are just too busy for this. ;)

PIO ~ So glad you are feeling better. Now keep doing what you are so you will continue to heal.'

Nan ~ I love Doug to pieces but oh how I love my alone time. I am always ready for golfing to start, because he loves it so and it gives me my "ME" time. Don't ever feel bad for liking yourself and the time you get.

Glynis ~ So what did the kids and Alan do for you? I am sure what ever it was you had a great time. You have the best family!!

Becky ~ You will love the cape and the time away. I have never been but it is on my bucket list.

Robin ~ I know exactly what you are saying, but I bet you hate to see it. Doesn't make it better.
How did your pad Thai turn out?

I had a nice weekend. We spent Saturday at Elizabeth's. Doug, Marty and Jay put in a new front door for them. I played ALL day with the grandbabies. I had so much fun. Yesterday we went to Church then out to lunch. In the afternoon we went golfing (my choice). First time this season at the Country Club. We had a nice day. I really miss my Momma on Mother's Day. I always got her pansies. I have a hard time getting them now. I miss her so much!!

WFDT ~ Steak Salad, garlic bread sticks and sweet tea.

Make it a great day all.

Afternoon all! Sorry I haven't been on sooner. Things are crazy here today!

Well, our weekend did NOT go as planned! Things got off to a rocky start, as Katie decided to pull some special teenage attitude. Between that, cleaning up from the campout, Leslie's issues that had to be dealt with, and general fussiness of kids, we didn't end up leaving our house until almost 3 in the afternoon. So, whatever it was that Alan had planned (which he's not telling me) didn't happen. Instead, we went to several nurseries so that I could pick out flowers for my special Mother's Day pot the kids made for me many years ago. They refill it each year, and I get to enjoy it all summer long!

Once that was done, we came home and relaxed in the yard, planting flowers, etc.

Yesterday was wonderful! Alan made me breakfast (not in bed, as I hate that), and it was amazing! A huge omelet filled with tomatoes, cheese and avocados! So delicious! Jacob wanted to help and he ended up making 75 pancakes! I told him that's the Mother's Day gift that keeps on giving, as I now don't have to make breakfast for a week! We had a lovely day at church, and then a delicious ham dinner at home. Alan and the kids bought me a watch, and a new pair of walking shoes for Disneyland! Pretty cool!

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day! Today, I'm relaxing with a sick baby boy! Timmy has had some kind of tummy bug all morning, but he seems to be pulling out of it, now.

No idea on dinner. We'll play it by ear.

Ellen - seems like you had a nice Mother's Day.

Glynis - Hope Timmy is feeling better and that Katie is over THIS teenage angst.

Good Freezing Morning! It is cold here, really cold! MAY????? Not according to the thermometer. :(

Ellen- It sounds like your Mother's day weekend was perfect! I cannot think of a better way to spend a day than with beautiful babies!

Glynis- Teen Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I hae to tell you that I remember not liking my daughter very much for a few years. I wasn't fond of my nieces either. I loved them, I had fun with them, but I Holy Cow! They were a lot of work. Like your girls, they were all good kids, never gave any trouble and were a lot of fun, but they were work and they all had a major attitude. Kady has started testing her mom, and while I commend Marisa for handling it, I chuckle a lot :goodvibes

It is going to get better, it really will! I know that you don't drink but I think that there should be a special exemption if you have teenagers.....

How is TImmy?

Marilyn- I keep thinking about your knee. Marisa had two surgeries on hers, so I worry about you.

Robin- I never did get that night ;) I spent a fun filled 40 minutes following Buddy on a tractor from one farm to another. he had cultivators attached, and they took up too much space to allow vehicles to pass for much of the way, so it was a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG trip.

Almost done the school year. I have 3 final left. Almost done!

Morning!

Thanks for the encouragement! Teenage girls are a roller coaster ride! That's for sure! Most days Katie is very sweet and willing to help, but there are times that "monster Katie" comes out, and watch out, then!

Timmy is doing fine today. It was pretty scary for a while, yesterday. He couldn't keep anything down, was spewing from both ends, and got really dehydrated. His lips turned gray, and his eyes were sunk in. After he hit that point, he started rallying. Ice chips stayed down, and eventually he bounced back so much that he wanted to go outside to ride his bike.

Jacob got sick in the middle of the night. Not sure if it was the same bug that hit Timmy, or the migraine he went to bed with. I'm hoping for the migraine! He seems to be doing ok now, and is heading off to school. Since he never ran a fever, I feel ok letting him go to school. He'll call if he starts feeling badly.

Dinner is up in the air, again. I never had a chance to get to the store yesterday, so we'll have to see what happens today.

Becky- everyone lives macs, they've really become quite a business. I should know more about the beach access timeline soon, I'll let you know.

Thanks! I am hiking the Great Island trail on Friday. Can't wait!

Glynis, sorry about the kids being ill! I hope everyone is feeling better today.

Nancy, I hear you on the cold. We had frost here last night! Yikes! The Farmer's Market starts up this afternoon, and I am wondering if they are going to have anything to sell.

So, I have a funny Mother's Day story for you ladies. I got an email from my mother in law asking if John and I would stop at the fish market and bring out some fresh tuna to grill for dinner. No problem. I also made a sauce for it before we left since I knew my sister in law really liked this particular sauce (I think I posted it at one point on one of our old WFD threads: the devilled shallot butter).

So I got to my inlaws and was putting the tuna and sauce in their fridge. I thought to myself "hmmm...their fridge is really empty. I wonder what they are serving with the tuna?" We were all sitting around and then my sister in law said: "So Becky, what else are you cooking with the tuna!" I don't mind cooking if I know about it, but nobody asked me to do it! Have I mentioned that my inlaws live in the boonies? About 45 minutes from a grocery store. And there was no food in their house!

Luckily John and I had stopped at a farm stand on the way out to my inlaws, so I went out to the trunk of the car to see what I could cobble together. Of course I had bought things in enough quantity for just John and me, not for six people! We ended up with a spring vegetable medley (all the small amounts of veggies I had bought mixed together, braised in butter), an arugula-tomato-basil salad, and a loaf of crusty bread. Plus the tuna of course. I don't think that my inlaws caught on that I was not expecting to cook dinner ;)

WFD: grilled burgers.

Morning ladies,

Glynis ~ Oh no......I raised 2 girls and believe me when I say - I know exactly how you feel. I read a cute sign the other day that is so true - Grandchildren are our reward for not killing our teenagers. :rotfl2: So true!! And my favorite saying is "I brought you into this world, I CAN take you out" :rotfl: I had to chuckle as Elizabeth told Ethan this on Saturday.

Nan ~ I will say it again - I am so proud of you!!!! Summer will be here soon and I hope you enjoy your time away from the books for awhile.

PIO ~ Hope your day is going good.

Becky ~ You can look at this 2 ways. One as a compliment as they know what a good cook you are, or that they really depend on you too much. Either way I can't believe what a wonderful meal you were able to put together. Oh wait yes I can...... you are amazing. :worship:

It is to get to 97 maybe triple didgets in some parts today. See I told you we would go from winter to summer overnight. There is a cold front coming through tonight. So that should cool us off some. Doug got up sometime in the middle of the night and turned the AC on. I think he was hot!!

WFDT ~ Cube steaks with mushroom gravy, fresh aspergaus and cucumber tomato salad.

Make it a great day!!

Ellen- I'm ready for summer but I don't know about 97! My pad Thai was just like all my other pad Thais, fine. I'm aiming for perfection and I am so not there. I like different components from all the recipes so I'm on my way to getting it.

Becky- great island is one of my favorite spots, but I'm not a fan of the bathroom options. Glad you all made the best out of dinner.

Glynis- I love that Alan is keeping it a surprise, it must be ago of one. My kiddo hasn't turned on us yet, I'm dreading the day. She's just the sweetest person I've ever met.

Nancy- sorry you didn't get a night off. I'm from the middle of no where in New York and my daughter thinks its funny that sometimes we would be late for things when i was little because the cows had to cross.

Wow! Just wow! Talk about taking you for granted! I agree that in one way it's a compliment, but you could at least have been asked! You are truly a good sport. I'm afraid I would have said, "Not a darn thing. I brought the tuna, what did you bring?"

I was thinking the same thing. :thumbsup2 You are much nicer than me Becky.

Nancy- sorry you didn't get a night off. I'm from the middle of no where in New York and my daughter thinks its funny that sometimes we would be late for things when i was little because the cows had to cross.

LOL! Unless you live in those area, you just cannot understand those animal crossings! I am not looking forward to that tractor train that will take place between one piece to the other :drive: It is a few miles and most of them are narrow, so when we have to get all of Buddy's old iron from one place to the other, it is going to be crazy. Right now he is just running his two main work horses back and forth but when we cut, we need them all. Fortunately, our town has really supported the few farms left so that means they are pretty good about the delays.

Ellen- it is 32 degrees here! :crazy2:

I bet the offerings will be sparse. It is tough growing in this crazy weather!
I wish that I could say I was surprised about the impromptu invitation to make an entire meal out of nothing, but I am not ;) Only you could make something like out did out of choices for two! :worship: I would want to but i doubt that I could have managed.

Timmy is doing fine today.
Jacob got sick in the middle of the night.

I am glad that Timmy is better and hope Jacob is as well. The stomach thing is bad this year. Erica was admitted into the hospital day before yesterday. She had chest pain so Daniel brought her. Long story short, she had a barrage of test but the cardiologist told her that there was nothing that showed up. He told her that he thought that all of her symptoms were related to the GI thing that had lasted for several days. She was dehydrated and I forget what else, but he said it all went back to that bug.

We were given a take home final for accounting. It is a monster!

Good morning!!! Another gorgeous day on tap here! I'm sorry that some of you are having cold weather, but I really don't feel like sharing our 83 degree weather with you! I'm enjoying it while it lasts, because I have a feeling that it will cool down a lot, soon!

The best news to report is that everyone seems to be doing much better! Timmy started running a fever again yesterday, but at 11:30 in the morning he fell asleep, and slept until 2:00. When he woke up, he was regular old Timmy again!

Jacob felt good enough to be at school all day, which was a great thing, since the band teacher posted the list of those kids who made it into Jazz Band, and Jacob is one of 4 trumpets! He is so excited! I'm so very proud of him! He only picked up the trumpet for the first time last June, so this is a huge accomplishment! He'll get to play his French Horn in Symphonic Band, and his trumpet for Jazz Band. The only drawback is that Jazz Band is taught early morning, so I'll have to drive him, instead of him catching the bus. Oh well! That's a small price to pay!

The kids are down to 11 days of school, now, and they are really getting anxious! Spring/Summer fever has hit! For me, too, I have to say! We are all getting so excited for our Disneyland trip!

That reminds me, could I ask for some extra pixie dust??? Alan had asked for the time off for Disneyland, and was told that if he could find a freelance photographer, he could have the time. Well, he found one, and all seemed fine, until she got hired in another state, and can't work for him. When he told his boss, his boss said he would find someone to work for Alan. Unfortunately, the freelance photog he found also got hired in another state, so that's another one down. If another freelancer can't be found, Alan won't be able to go and I'll have to drive the kids to Disneyland and be in charge of them by myself. I'll do it if I have to, but we really want Alan to come with us! So, any good thoughts, prayers or pixie dust you can spare would be great!

Glynis, congratulations to Jacob for getting picked for Jazz band! Liam plays trumpet also (sometmes) and I know he is trying out for Jazz Band next fall when he goes to high school (!!). And pixie dust that Alan gets to go to Disneyland with you too!

Nancy, good luck on your accounting final!

I just want to clarify that I was not upset with my inlaws about the dinner thing. I actually thought it was funny. And it all worked out fine.

WFD: roasted asparagus topped with a poached egg and hollandaise, and crusty bread.

Wow! Just wow! Talk about taking you for granted! I agree that in one way it's a compliment, but you could at least have been asked! You are truly a good sport. I'm afraid I would have said, "Not a darn thing. I brought the tuna, what did you bring?"

I just about spit my coffee out on my screen. You just crack me up!!

Congrats to Jacob.....please tell him his aunties are proud of him.

Prayers on the way for Alan to be able to get off and go to DL with the family. I agree it just wouldn't be the same without him.

Nan ~ good luck on your final. I bet you will be glad when it's over. Wine for dinner???? ;)

Robin ~ You will get it just right. I am so impressed that you keep trying. I would probably just get take out.

Becky ~ somehow I thought that would be what you would think. I love your attitude.

We got to 103 degrees here yesterday. Much much to hot for May. We hit all sorts of records. Today it is to cool off some, only in the upper 70 - to lower 80's. I did get a 2 mile walk in though and it really felt good. Slept better last night also.

Only 1 more week of school left here. They get out at 1:30 next Wednesday. I can't believe school is almost over. Wow, where does the time go? Ethan is SO excited!!

WFDT ~ Grilled cheesburgers, sweet potato tots and salad.

Make it a great day!

Ellen- the only reason I keep trying is an order costs $13, so for the three of us to get takeout it's pretty pricy. I can't believe Ethan is almost done with school. They don't get out until the end of June here.

Glynis- congratulations to Jacob! Hope they can find a fill in for Alan.

Buffalo chicken for dinner, not sure on the sides. It's about the only meal I find edible from the crockpot. A bottle of buffalo wing sauce, a packet of hidden valley ranch, and boneless skinless chicken.

My turn to ask for good thoughts. I found a lump on my dog, fortunately he scheduled for his annual checkup on Friday so I won't have to long of a wait. I'm hopeful it's just a harmless fatty tumor. He's a lab/golden mix and they are breeds that commonly get. Grrr, someone remind me dogs are worth the stress and heartache.

Good morning Ladies,

Robin ~ prayers for your furbaby. I hope you already have good news for us. Please know we are all there for you.

 and  to everyone else.

We are a bit on the warm side today. It is to get to 88 today. We had some thunderstorms last night and more forcasted for tomorrow night. I HATE this time of the year. We are right in tornado alley and there is NOTHING I am more afraid of. We live in the country so we can't hear the sirens if they do go off. I have an alert on my phone but in the middle of the night we don't get much notice before it is right on top of us.

I hope to get the house cleaned this weekend. I have played long enough - this weekend I HAVE to stay home and get some work done. Doesn't sound near as fun as playing, but it has to be done. I also hope to get some pretty flowers in my pots. Actually I am looking forward to it. There is nothing better (to me anyway) than a clean house.

WFDT ~ Marinated chicken, potato salad and aspergaus.

Make it a great day and have a wonderful weekend.

Ellen- I just got back from the vet and most likely it's a fatty tumor, completely harmless but it will eventually take away from his cuteness! We'll get it removed if it gets big and gross. Now it's really tiny, I'm surprised I found it. I can't imagine living with tornadoes. I have to say the relatively safe weather is one of the reasons I love living in the northeast- and on cape cod there are no poisonous snakes. There ya go, the secret to my care free life!

Becky- have a great birthday weekend.

My mom dropped off some smoked pulled pork so ill make some cornbread to go with it. Maybe carrot fries too. Enjoy the weekend all.

Robin, You made my day.

I just had to pop back in before I left to go home to see if there was any word on your furbaby. Praise the Lord........all is ok!!! Thanks for letting us know. I would have worried all weekend.

Give him a big ole hug for me.

Hi gang, Happy Monday

We had a nice weekend. Got a LOT of stuff done around the house. So much so that when Marty and Stephanie asked us to dinner last night we went. Elizabeth and the boys came also, so I got to play with all of them.

Today is one day that I will be glad to lay my head down and say goodbye to. I had a physical and mammo this morning....yuck. Enough said. Stopped by the dentist to have him look at a funny lump on the side of my mouth - ended up being and absess on 2 - NOT 1 BUT - 2 teeth. So I get to have 2 root canals in the next 10 days, after I take a round of antibiotic. Fun Fun!!! Then Doug calls me at lunch to tell me that he took my beloved Meeko (my 18 year old Chocolate siamese cat) to the vet and they had to put him down. We knew it was a possibility but still devastating.

Needless to say..............not the best of days. Tomorrow has to be better.

WFDT ~ Wine.....losts of wine!!! No not really, but it does sound good.
Meatloaf, green beans, baked potatoes and strawberries.

Make it a great day!!
