I spent a fun filled 40 minutes following Buddy on a tractor from one farm to another. he had cultivators attached, and they took up too much space to allow vehicles to pass for much of the way, so it was a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG trip. Becky- everyone lives macs, they've really become quite a business. I should know more about the beach access timeline soon, I'll let you know.
I don't mind cooking if I know about it, but nobody asked me to do it! Have I mentioned that my inlaws live in the boonies? About 45 minutes from a grocery store. And there was no food in their house!
So true!! And my favorite saying is "I brought you into this world, I CAN take you out"
I had to chuckle as Elizabeth told Ethan this on Saturday.
Thanks! I am hiking the Great Island trail on Friday. Can't wait!
Glynis, sorry about the kids being ill! I hope everyone is feeling better today.
Nancy, I hear you on the cold. We had frost here last night! Yikes! The Farmer's Market starts up this afternoon, and I am wondering if they are going to have anything to sell.
So, I have a funny Mother's Day story for you ladies. I got an email from my mother in law asking if John and I would stop at the fish market and bring out some fresh tuna to grill for dinner. No problem. I also made a sauce for it before we left since I knew my sister in law really liked this particular sauce (I think I posted it at one point on one of our old WFD threads: the devilled shallot butter).
So I got to my inlaws and was putting the tuna and sauce in their fridge. I thought to myself "hmmm...their fridge is really empty. I wonder what they are serving with the tuna?" We were all sitting around and then my sister in law said: "So Becky, what else are you cooking with the tuna!"I don't mind cooking if I know about it, but nobody asked me to do it! Luckily John and I had stopped at a farm stand on the way out to my inlaws, so I went out to the trunk of the car to see what I could cobble together. Of course I had bought things in enough quantity for just John and me, not for six people! We ended up with a spring vegetable medley (all the small amounts of veggies I had bought mixed together, braised in butter), an arugula-tomato-basil salad, and a loaf of crusty bread. Plus the tuna of course. I don't think that my inlaws caught on that I was not expecting to cook dinner
WFD: grilled burgers.
Wow! Just wow! Talk about taking you for granted! I agree that in one way it's a compliment, but you could at least have been asked! You are truly a good sport. I'm afraid I would have said, "Not a darn thing. I brought the tuna, what did you bring?"

Nancy- sorry you didn't get a night off. I'm from the middle of no where in New York and my daughter thinks its funny that sometimes we would be late for things when i was little because the cows had to cross.
It is a few miles and most of them are narrow, so when we have to get all of Buddy's old iron from one place to the other, it is going to be crazy. Right now he is just running his two main work horses back and forth but when we cut, we need them all. Fortunately, our town has really supported the few farms left so that means they are pretty good about the delays. It is to get to 97 maybe triple didgets in some parts today. See I told you we would go from winter to summer overnight. There is a cold front coming through tonight. So that should cool us off some. Doug got up sometime in the middle of the night and turned the AC on. I think he was hot!!
Make it a great day!!
