I'm ready to face facts...

heheh...I sometimes muffin top...I've, sadly, gained some weight in the hip area. A loose fitting top will cover that right up though! heheheh

I LOATHE Old Navy pants.
even their "long" style...still not long enough for anyone over 5'7 IMO.
I'm 5'9"...I can ONLY wear their shorts, capris, and skirts...I just avoid full length pants there.

THANK YOU for saying that. I thought it was just me having problems with their lengths. Old Navy has great deals on jeans, but they are never long enough for me, even the "long" lengths! I sometimes buy their jeans, but roll them up into capris. :teeth:

I still say... Go to a Gap! Go directly to Gap. Do not pass go.... etc. They've got something for everyone in there!

I got a pair of strech levi's lower waist and a flare.......love 'em..........

My lycra, lower waist, flared leg, Levi's are my favorite pair right now! :) They fit like a glove and are SO comfy. DH likes these on me better than any other I own. I have some Gap jeans that are second favorite. Mine must have lycra and a lower waist.

Are Wrangers made by Lee or visa versa? I know that Wrangler jeans are sold at the Lee outlet.

Wrangler is their own brand. Just like Lee and Levi are their own brand. They are very popular down here.

I just did a search and found that the VF Corporation is the parent company to Lee and Wranger (also Healthtex, Jantzen, and Vanity Fair). That explains why they are all sold at the Vanity Fair outlets.

OK, so I put on my new jeans this morning and I realize that having them fit tighter and not having the baggy butt makes me feel thinner. And since I've given up my pleats and elastic waists and baggy butts people ask me if I've lost weight. :thumbsup2

Hmmm, I think I need to go shopping!

Ok...I tried on my new Chico's stretch jeans yesterday. They're a mid-rise style. I'm not sure I like how low they are...especially since I have a pouchy tummy problem. Here's my question...whats sits lower, a mid-rise or a low-rise? Or are they the same?

Mid-rise is supposed to hit you right below the belly button...those are my choice! I like the Old Navy Mid-rise Stretch Jeans...Boot Cut ...no more ankle biters for me!!!! Tapered legs are just awful..makes my old butt look even bigger :confused3

OK, someone please tell me...what are Mom Jeans? And why is Lee being categorized this way.

Am I OK? I like Levis.

I depends what style Levi's. I have a new pair and they aren't Mom jeans.
Mom jeans are jeans that:
-have elastic or pleats in the waist.
-have a waistline that hits you right under your bra
-make your butt look twice the size it really is.

One of the reasons men's jeans just fit better on me is because I have such a high waist. If I put on women's jeans and pull them up to my actual waist, I can literally tuck The Girls in the waistband. :smooth: If I find a women's pair that fits me in the waist, then they're too big in the hips and thighs--or if they fit in the hips and thighs, than they're too tight in the waist. Men's hit me right below my belly button, which is where I find them most comfortable, and they fit my non-existant hips, thighs and butt.

Wish I had me some J. Lo junk-in-the-trunk going on!

What if they have elastic but they're lowrise? "-have a waistline that hits you right under your bra" I love it! :teeth:

My Levis are 5-0-somethingorother and are probably midrise. They sit under my pouchy belly but fit good so I don't have a muffin top problem.

Wranglers are cool IMO but I can't find them nowadays. :sad2:

Don't forget the tapered legs!

I just learned today that Gap now carries "Tall" Sweaters...
longer length (hits lower on the hip) and LONGER ARMS!

I have these freak-**** monkey arms...I can't wait until the sweaters go on sale so I can buy one!

Yeah - rule number one at the gap...like it? good - wait 2 weeks, it'll be on sale. :)

Hey, I resent the part where Mom Jeans are often lighter in color. I like the faded look and always have.

Saturday Night Live did a very funny commercial for Mom Jeans a few years ago. It was a riot! I promptly threw out any tapered leg jeans I owned and replaced them all! I wasn't even a mom yet!

Now that I am a mom (and a c-section mommy at that), I wear Eddie Bauer Stretch Boot Cut Jeans and I love them! I can't believe in five pages no one else has mentioned Eddie Bauer jeans!! They ROCK!

I live about 10 minutes from the Vanity Fair Factory Outlet in Reading, PA and when I was a kid, Lee was all we wore (and basically all we could afford). But once I hit high school and got my curves, they just never fit right again.

My mom wore them for years, definitely the "mommy fit". She now wears Eddie Bauer jeans, and although better, still have the "mom fit" on her.

I am 5'9" and have the problem that the regular lengths are too short and the longs are dragging on the floor. The low rise work well for me because they sit a bit lower and don't make the pants too short. However, then my lower back is always hanging out because I am taller and they are cut so short....it is always such a hassle to buy clothes.

I haven't shopped for jeans in awhile, but the style that works best for me is the low rise, slightly flared varieties.

I think you definitely *feel* different if you wear old mom jeans compared to a newer style jeans. I have a pair of Levis mid-rise jeans and I feel 10 years younger in those jeans than regular ladies jeans. I always wore men's jeans in HS (Levis only--I was a snob). These fit me more like those jeans did.

I have the same problem as you, it seems all the 'cute' jeans only come in regular length, I usually search for longs, which start out too long, but usually shrink up enough to make them work.

This thread is too funny!
