I'm ready to face facts...

I think you definitely *feel* different if you wear old mom jeans compared to a newer style jeans. I have a pair of Levis mid-rise jeans and I feel 10 years younger in those jeans than regular ladies jeans. I always wore men's jeans in HS (Levis only--I was a snob). These fit me more like those jeans did.

My mom can totally agree with you.
I MADE her try on a lower rise, bootcut jean. Even a couple pairs with a little "flare" to them. Nothing too trendy...just a darker wash jean (or even black jeans) in a more "modern" fit.

She came out of the dressing room (at the GAP!) and hugged me. She felt SOOOO much better about herself...all she needed was to be FORCED to try on something outside her "comfort" zone.

she went home and threw out ALL her tapered/high waisted pants and replaced every pant/jean in her closet.

of course...now she looks better then me...where the hell did I get this pear shape from?!?!

God knows we don't want luvmydogs to be able to tuck The Girls into her waistband! :lmao:

The urban dictionary definition cracked me up--I sure know that I don't want me genital triangle emphasized and outlined. :yay:

So if I go into The Gap and tell them to steer me to the non-Mom jeans, will they know what I'm talking about?

:lmao: Yep, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to steer you to the correct jeans. We want before and after pictures!!! :lmao:

Somehow this is making me cringe...I bet I am old enough to be YOUR mother!!! *ugh* :teeth:

Saturday Night Live did a very funny commercial for Mom Jeans a few years ago. It was a riot! I promptly threw out any tapered leg jeans I owned and replaced them all! I wasn't even a mom yet!

Now that I am a mom (and a c-section mommy at that), I wear Eddie Bauer Stretch Boot Cut Jeans and I love them! I can't believe in five pages no one else has mentioned Eddie Bauer jeans!! They ROCK!

That commercial was hilarious. Let me just give fair warning about Eddie Bauer jeans. They tend to discontinue styles often. And their sizing changes a little too. Don't get me wrong I  Eddie Bauer, I probably own their whole fall collection. But their jeans keep changing.

Now if MY mom doesnt wear mom jeans, no one should. She is the most unfashionable person around. Even she owns boycut and bootleg jeans. She doesn't wear the ultra low rise jeans :scared: but they don't touch the bottom of her bra either. Heck I'm 22 and I don't even wear the ultra low rise pants. Sorry but my underwear is not on parade.

Yes - but be careful.

Gap still carries mom jeans online.
Also known as the "Reverse Fit" jeans...

Yeah, My Pretties aren't so pretty anymore. Used to be you'd need a magnifying glass to see mine--yeah, they got bigger after having 4 children, but not in a good way! :teeth:

Heh heh. "My Pretties." :lmao:

I won't even begin to tell you about the comment ds10 made about mine when I found him "accidentally" looking at my Victoria's Secret catalogue.

All of my life I had issues with jeans until low rise pants came in style. I have a teeny waist and an ample behind. Greatest invention ever. I buy my jeans either at The Gap or Old Navy. Hmm I think I have one pair from JcPenney's as well. All low waist and all with a little stretch.

Just say no to MOM jeans, they add POUNDS and years.

I depends what style Levi's. I have a new pair and they aren't Mom jeans.
Mom jeans are jeans that:
-have elastic or pleats in the waist.
-have a waistline that hits you right under your bra
-make your butt look twice the size it really is.

Add to the list: Have a paperbag waist.

Remember these type of jeans? They're high-waisted with a ruffled top to the waist. Yes, I admit, I still have a pair...with a hole in the knee. I still wear them but only around the house when I'm cleaning. I wouldn't be caught outside in them. And yes, they were Lee brand :rotfl:

I don't mean to get snarky, but I'm scared to death to click on an urbandictionary.com link. :scared: :scared1: :teeth:

:rotfl2: I just found out about the whole urban dictionary/snarky/#10 thing today!! I'm so glad I read that thread as well. I feel like I could be in a clique, too, someday! :lmao:

You are more than welcome to be in our twisted clique, that is if you're odd enough. But of course if you got through the snarky thread it proves that you'd fit in!

But one question--you don't have 42 labs, do you? :teeth:

With our similar usernames, I think we need to start our own clique!

Yes, the quality has been going down. I buy and wear the Levi 560 or 569 from the young mens section. But the last 2 I bought, the jean has a khaki feel to them. I also bought a pair of 560 at JCPenney for $11 on the clearance rack and I probably washed them 10 times and they look really worn out already.

It might have something to do with the fact that Levi up and pulled out of the US and took the line overseas for production. I hope they go under personally! I used to buy Levi all the time, but not anymore.

I still haven't made it to the Gap to buy some new jeans, mainly because our local mall no longer has a Gap store and I need to drive a bit further to another mall.

But I did think of this thread this weekend. I'd mentioned to my DH that I wanted to go to the mall (before I realized that it doesn't have a Gap anymore). The next day, out of the blue, he asked me why I wanted to go to the mall (I'm not a mall lover and rarely go, so maybe that red flagged it in his mind). So I explained this thread to him, told him about mom jeans and my plan to buy non-mom jeans. To day that he thought I was off my rocker is probably an understatement! :rotfl2:

Now to just drive to that other mall and buy them!

Ok...this is no joke anymore. :teeth: I tried on some stretch mid-rise jeans today. I guess as long as you're standing up they're ok. However, as soon as I sit down, they gap in the back and pull down. No one and I mean no one wants or needs to see that much of me. How do all of you handle this kind of design without it gapping in back? Didn't Oprah mention on her Favorite Things show some type of jean that was cut higher in the back and lower in the front to account for this very problem? :confused3

Levis run HUGE on me.
I like the Ralph Lauren Polo Saturday jean

I don't get the midrise ones.
