I'm Ordering a big BLT for Thanksgiving 2010 NEW 12/3 started TR! see link

Concerns:

* I feel like we have a small list…but maybe it’s still to big for only 4 hrs in the park…we (our 6) can always push an extra hour and let the GP’s head back to BLT first and skip resort hop to BCV for holiday sighting?

* How will we save time on transportation? Taking bus back to CR or going through EP and taking monorail?

Ok here's my 2 cents:

Skip the BC this day. It's too much to stop touring a park, get a break in and then go to HDDR for 5pm. I just can't see going thur the effort for something that you will only view for like 10 minutes.

Taking the monorail is not going to be quicker by a long shot. I'd bet it would take 20 minutes just to walk from the International gate to the front. Not to mention that gives everyone another chance to have to go to the bathroom or stop for something and hold you up. Take the bus. Mid-day buses run pretty good from the parks.

One other thing I noticed. Is Nathan getting his Pirate thing done at 1230pm and then you are leaving MK almost right after that? If so, wouldn't he enjoy being "done up" in MK for more time? That's where he's going to get the most special attention. Just a thought.

Most of the shows at DHS don't change their times every much. Beauty and the Beast is pretty much on the same schedule year round. So isnt' the car show. Let me know if you want more details.

Great DHS update!!! I love seeing all the pictures from your past trips, but I think my favorite one has to be the Jawa! :lmao: (Yes, we are big Star Wars geeks at our house!)

Love all the DHS pics! :thumbsup2 I just love that park!

thanks it was fun to look back at our past 3 trips...DHS is actually my least fav of the 4 parks...but then taking a trip back through time...I was findly reminded of many of the great things we do love there!

Welcome Back!! Love all the pictures from past trips! :thumbsup2

thanks...I'm sure you remember some of those from the first time :goodvibes

It sounds like a lot of your plans depend on OL... when will you know the timing on that? This seems to be the biggest unknown leaving many of your other plans up in the air. I'm guessing a lot of things will fall into place once you have that figured out.

yes in a way...really it is just those two nights that are up in the air, but it's one park or the other so nothing major is riding on which way we go. I'd really like to see the lights before Turkey day as I expect crowds to be getting worse as the week moves forward...plus it would be nice for the GP's to see them too.

I don't know when they post the official schedule...have not checked in awhile...maybe 90 days out sometime in August :confused3

I don't think your to do list is too long... some of the things on there are quick things. But I agree it's a hard park to plan with all the shows.

thanks for a :thumbsup2 on the list size

It sounds really fun to walk through Epcot & take the monorail... just not sure if it will save you time or not. :confused3

I will respond to this after Heidi's thoughts below

Your plans look great! I like that you listed your musts for your DHS day. The studios does have a confusing layout. We end up walking back and forth a lot.

thanks Jennifer...I feel like we do a lot of back tracking too...I think w/ a smaller must list and utilizing FP's for the GP's we should not have to

The photos of your family from past trips are beautiful!

thanks

Oh my, that was a lot! I love all the flashback pictures, too cute!

sorry :rolleyes1

When we saw the osborne lights (in January of 2006) we just arrived after dark and walked through. It wasn't very crowded and it wasn't like, lines or anything, you just showed up and enjoyed them. Very simple.

ok that sounds reassuring...but will it be that simple Thanksgiving week?

I too, am going to try cupcakes from starring rolls. It may be one of my most anticipated things! Is that sad?

no...I have it on my must list too ;)

Ok here's my 2 cents:

I can always count on you :worship:

I was starting to lean that way too...your thoughts help nip that

Ok you are right...now that you say that "outloud" it doesn't seem like a waste of time...besides your right we'd probably get distracted by something...just do the bus

I will respond after Amy's comment on the same thing below

ok that is good...I will start studying Steve Soares site :thumbsup2

Great DHS update!!! I love seeing all the pictures from your past trips, but I think my favorite one has to be the Jawa! :lmao: (Yes, we are big Star Wars geeks at our house!)

that was like our only SWW encounter that day...sorry the pic was so big  his eyes look HUGE

This crossed my mind too...

Ok to answer the PL thing pirate: ...so first I'm a bit worried about this whole experience for him...

for those of you who don't know...Nathan my DS (11) has autism...Aspergers/HFA

he is looking forward to this and has read about, looked at pictures etc...but I still wonder will it be too loud, overwhelming and will the make-up be a disaster...

now I found a thread about the PL and it looks like the OP is actually a CM who works there

I asked a few questions to help ease my mind and prepare for this day...

he says the make-up can not be pre-altered ahead of time...such as Nathan picks the Hook make-up but only wants on a scar nothing else...it seems they do not want to do special requests understandable but for a special needs issue  it seems flexible enough they can work around this and w/ this during the process, but may depend on the CM too.

to make this time more special and less stressful for Nathan, Matt and I have decided it would just be him and maybe Grandpa accompanying him to the PL.

what do you think?

as far as the time...I left that up to Nathan and his comfort level. He wanted it to be after he has eaten, he doesn't want to eat w/ the make-up on.

so hence the 12:30 time frame.

the park attention did not really come to mind untill you mentioned it Heidi

I do plan POC after his PL experience and yes that would have been basically it for the day at MK...

(I do plan to do a whole 3 part posting on MK too BTW)

let me talk to Nathan and Matt and get their opinions...I wonder if it's too late to change the time...the other thing is....this day the PL is scheduled for is Rachel's b-day...so I don't want to split up immediately once arriving in the park..."end of the day" not a big deal...

oh :headache:

J~

I really don't know much about the whole PL thing......it never occured to me that it could be loud in there. Could be thou....so many places in Disney that you would never think of as loud and/or dark can be. :confused3

Just throwing this out there....what about those face painting booths that they have.....I know there is one in Animal Kingdom (Jackie's kids had it done last year). Would he like that as a Plan B?

On a personal note I have to bend your ear soon about lactose intorlance....we think Liam has that.

We always find DHS hard to navigate and plan for too. Loved the pics! I've also got Starring Rolls on my list! :rotfl:

I agree with the others, trying to squeeze in BC might be too much. Also, I would not walk thru Epcot to the monorail, it is a very long walk. If you do go you could hop a bus from BC to MK and then walk to BLT.

My girls have done BBB a couple of times, wonder if Daniel would like the PL thing. He's done the face painting before and been OK with it. One time though he got some sort of thing that was full face and he was so funny trying to talk without moving his mouth because he was afraid it would ruin the face painting.

As for OL, I think much of the 6:30p F! crowd will head for OL and won't be leaving then as I'm fairly certain you can't do them before the first F! show. I'll be interested in this too, if I find out anything I'll let you know.

it could be just me being nervous something we have never done...kwim?

it is a great Plan B...I have seen her pictures...but for Nathan the story, theme of the whole place is what appeals to him, not the make-up only...

I still want to run the time thing by Matt...but now that I have thought more about it...think the 12:30 time should work great for him and I will send some baby wipes...so if he hates part of it, we can wipe it off...pirate: it's not as expensive as BB so we'll see it will be a good learning lesson and something he and I can share w/ the boards

aw...bummer...feel free to pick my ear (ok that sounds gross) , send an email and we should chat sometime too. I'm awaiting my new phone :woohoo: then I can actually talk to my NH gals :thumbsup2

Joining in! Have to go back and read!

:welcome: Julie...so great to have you come by!

maybe we can have that snack together ;)

great! be good to hear your thoughts too and so basically I can think we can see the lights while most of the park is sitting watching F! is it best for us to leave before official closing? I'm just wonderfing is it like leaving say MK after Wishes or EP after Illuminations?

you (Anne-Marie) are not on hoppers right? but if you were just arriving for OL what time would you get there?

TIA

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok so I purchased 2 adult AP's today for Matt and I by calling DVC MS this morning...I kept thinking I was going to buy them there and had myself confused trying to remember is it the AP's or the DDP you can't purchase in advance staying DVC points vs a reg Disney package ressie  I started looking around on the boards and then called MS

and got the AP's :goofy:

glad I did just in case the prices go up in a few weeks...but

WHOOPS!

somewhere along the way in my inital budget of the price I messed up as I was budgeting $778 but it was $828 and change...$50 more... :teacher:
I kept thinking w/ discount it was $389 each, but I paid $414 (plus change) each to have hopping privledges..so I don't know...but we got what I wanted

not a huge problem...just have to re-save that $50 that was set aside for something else...would have been way worse if we realized it down there :headache:

so the only other major thing to be paid for is the DDP when we check in and I need to purchase my inlaws passes for them from UT...they just need to decide if they want hoppers or not as we will for sure hop only 2 of the 4 days they will be with us

Ok off to get some organizing done...I've decided to pull a couple of the kids Disney shirts to the trip pile and want to make sure I don't have too many shirts set aside...plus need to get cranking on my July projects

J~

All caught up!

I love the July 4th pics! SO cute! :thumbsup2

Bekah's hair cut is adorable. Good for her for wanting to donate it. :thumbsup2

Scary budget...but since when is Disney about the money we spend?? ;) The great thing is that you are on top of it and aware of what you are spending. Save, save, save! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to hear more planning! I'm in full-on "don't know when I'll be back to Disney" mode, so I need to live through you! :)

live away my friend :goodvibes

Julie - DVC APs are $389 ea but that is without tax so the extra $50.xx you paid was tax. Darn that tax. ;)

As for our passes, we're still kicking around APs since we're planning a June 2011 trip for Mairead's graduation. Only problem is we're talking almost $900 more out of pocket now but will end up saving us around $200 overall.

My thoughts on OL is they'll probably start 6-6:30p so if you're arriving for just the lights I'd be there by 5:30-6p. You'd have until after 7ish to really enjoy them before the F! crowds would arrive. If you get there a little earlier you could always fit in something like GMR. If you want to avoid the crush I'd try to leave before the 2nd F! if they have one.

Glad you got your AP's bought, that's exciting! Too bad they were more than you had thought, but better to know ahead of time. At least all you have left to pay for is DDP!

Yay for purchasing APs!! :yay:
And sorry for the price difference surprise. I agree it's better to have that surprise at home, than at WDW.

I think I can explain the difference in price as we just bought our DVC APs from the website last week. According to the receipt Disney emailed me, the cost of the AP with the DVC discount is $389. $25.29 tax is added to that to make the total $414.29 for each AP. All of the ticket prices listed on the Disney website are before tax. If you want to see the price after tax, just put in the number of tickets you're thinking of buying and hit checkout. You'll see the total, with tax.
