The new rule is to quote the first post of a thread.

I am a firm believer in the new rule. It allows people to understand what is going on in a thread when the original post is changed or taken down

I'm not. When people delete the post it's often because people gang up. I think when the OP has had enough it's time to let it die.

It is an unofficial DIS rule made up by DIS members that want to know (or a just nosy whichever you like)

No, it's a made-up rule that assumes that anyone who posts something with which people disagree will immediately be intimidated into changing or deleting their original post. I've never had a problem standing by my words, but people should have the right to alter their posts for any reason.

It also wastes a lot of space.
