My DH, my six month old DD, and I just returned from a last minute trip down to Disney World. This past Friday night, after enjoying a lovely dinner at Flying Fish Cafe, we walked into a wonderful situation. We were trying to decide whether we wanted to head over to EPCOT and watch Illuminations. It was about 8:30 pm. We were all tired, and decided to just head back to our room. We walked past the Swan and Dolphin, and were walking towards the boat dock at the Yacht Club. There was a cast memeber standing on the deck, so my DH decided to ask him about the Illumination Cruises. The CM was very friendly, and answered all of our questions. When he was through, he made us an offer that we couldn't refuse! ;) As luck would have it, his party had not shown up yet for their booking. They were supposed to be at the dock by 8:15 pm, and it was already 8:45 pm. The cast member then told us that if the party did not show up, he would take us out on the cruise, no charge. We eagerly said yes, and waited a very long 5 minutes. No one ever showed up, so our DD was given a life jacket, and off we went! It was awesome, especially since it was free! :) We asked to be put on the waiting list for the week of Easter. We would pay to go, since were will have a big crowd with us then. Our driver was Aaron, and he was great. He seemed so excited to be giving a free cruise to a very excited and grateful family! :) So that was our magical story from our latest trip! Dreams really do come true in Disney World!

..it happened to us too!! My husband, sister, and her husband were walking around the lake there and about 8:58 we walked by the YC marina. The driver was there and we almost didn't hear him, but he asked us if we wanted to take the Illuminations cruise. I asked how much, and he said free-his party didn't show up and they were going to be charged, but would we like to go. Would we?!?!?!?! I jumped in that boat so fast!!! DH was right behind me!! My sister and her husband (not in the Disney loop), hopped in, but she was a little confused-she thought it was a sales pitch to get us to buy the boat!!!!! It was awesome!!! For once, we were in the right place at the right time!! :teeth: :sunny: :teeth:

WOW! How nice of those strangers to pay for your illuminations cruise. That's what happens if you don't cancel your reservation with 24 hours notice.

How great is that! You both had very lucky timing. Right place at the right time, indeed.

Aren't Illuminations cruises, just magical? I imagine a free one is more magical still :)

We weren't lucky enough to stumbleupon a free cruise, but we did have Aaron for our boat captain on our Illuminations cruise on Feb. 1st. He was great - told us all about how his family always went to Disney on vacations when he was growing up, and how he had always wanted to work there! Plus, he wasn't bad to look at (I know, he's only 20, but hey, he still looked good!)

Shannon G-We must have been thinking the same thing! ;) Of course my DH is the love of my life. However, I don't mind having to look at a handsome man now and then! :)
