illness compounded by lack of exercise?

Last Wednesday, as in a week ago, I went for my run. It was rather difficult, so I ended up running a lap and then walking a lap and only did 2 miles (usually do 3). Friday and Saturday I was out of state at a friends wedding (so I wasn't planning on running). Sunday I had this awful headache that I just couldn't shake that lead into Monday so I took the morning off from work. Well fast forward to today and I haven't ran in a week. I haven't even been able to manage taking my dog for a walk (we go for 2 miles before work and 1 or 2 after work). The issue is that I feel like I have been at the gym more then ever. I am sore all over and I still have this horrible headache. After work I just go home and crash. Showering this week has taken effort. So obviously I am sick, but I think my body is also reacting to the lack of exercise as well as the illness. We all know that if you work out often and then just stop your body gets achy and rebels. At the moment I cant even fathom going for a run, so how can i convince my body we need rest? It is nearly 2 pm and I am thinking of going home sick again today and taking a nap.

Don't give up! Everyone has their off days, weeks and months. I do the Biggest Loser Workout and the one thing I get from Bob (the trainer guy), is if it gets too tough to relax. No one can do it in a day. It doesn't matter if you can keep up or not as long as you keep moving.

Maybe instead of a run do a light walk until you feel better? Also, if you are running a fever or are sick below the neck, what your body really needs is rest.

Carla, honey, I think you need to go see your PCP. If you are tired all the time with a low-grade headache, you could have something bacterial going on in your body that you can get rid of. Always better safe than sorry.

Team Goof misses you dearly and I hope you get feeling better soon!!

I got three miles (basic slow walking) in yesterday, so that is a step in the right direction. i am sure it is some sort of bacteria or virus. i am leaning toward virus just cause it feels so much like a flu. I manged to survive work yesterday and left on time, but it is 11:30 and I am having the same thoughts as yesterday. A bath sounds really appealing right now. It is Friday, maybe if I sneak out early the boss wont notice! :rolleyes1

And Lisa, as for the Goofs, I plan on joining back up soon. Right now I am just not consistent and I don't want to weigh the team down. :worried:
