ILL Fantasmic

This is exactly why I see them adding it to Genie+. Would love it to be free tho, I don't think they will because that would require an extra system to keep those and how does that work for ppl with Genie+? Does it count or not for their time windows? If it's free, I can see it running out a minute after park opens since it would be literally the only thing folks without Genie could get. What about DAS, does it count as a selection there? Getting a headache just thinking about the logistics haha

When they had Maxpass, it was possible for specific attractions to not count against people booking another fastpass (like Buzz Lightyear was not counted against you for a while).
So I am sure they that they could add F! or WOC as a free Genie (not Genie+) selectable option (and also have it show up for genie+ users).

Honestly, I just don't think they are going to charge for either F! or WOC (at the very least, there will be some "free" way to see the show). I could be proven wrong, I guess.

There was also mention of the Virtual Queue/Boarding Group system. I suppose that could work too.

It wasn't a big deal before to use the old FP machines, but now with the 1pm parkhopping rule, you wouldn't be able to see WOC unless you started at DCA. I hope they figure out a free way to be able to offer it in the app, even if it means using the VQ. I never purchase Genie+ since I can't ride many of those rides, so it would basically amount to charging $20 to watch WOC if that was the only way to secure access.

I'm sure WOC will be on Gene+ as just like now, park hoppers can book Lightning Lanes for the opposite park and the return time automatically changes to after 1pm.

I can't see them making either Fantasmic or WOC Lightning Lanes free, so my guess is yes you will have to pay $20 to get a Lighting Lane, either through Genie+ or as an Individual Lightning Lane. If its an Individual Lightning Lane I can see it being $20 most of the time like Rise of The Resistance.

It seems like another option would be to reserve a spot like with dining reservations. Scan in like a seated meal, deal with the no shows like a dining res, with a fee. Have a "walk up list" if not full.
They could just add the show like a new restaurant to their system.

I'm going to remain hopeful that they won't charge for either WOC or F!, except for the dining/desert options.

I agree! I just wish they would hurry up and announce how it will work. We are there the first weekend and I'm getting anxious not knowing.

We are also there the first weekend and would like to know, especially as I'm at my 60 days and figuring out dining. I don't mind paying for Fantasmic and WoC, though I'd rather do the dessert party or dining package, but whatever. Disney is just going to grab every penny these days. Mostly, I'd just like to be able to plan. It's driving me crazy I can't book my dining for length of stay! I'm so used to that.

Whoops, I'm actually there for the first weekend of WOC! I forgot this post was titled Fantasmic! When you said 60 days, I was like, what?, we are only 23 days away from the first show! :)

But yes, we just need to know!

LOL, sorry for the panic!

I'm going to remain hopeful, as well. Even ROTR and Genie+ rides have the free option of standby, so I would like to think WOC would have some alternative option.

They appear to be getting dining packages ready. My plan was to book River Belle Terrace and then when dining packages were released try to convert it to one but starting May 28th River Belle hasn't been able for reservations.

Why can you not see them making Fantasmic or WOC free? They have never tied a mandatory upcharge to shows and I would be beyond dismayed if Disney did this!!! What exactly are you paying for when you buy tickets to DL if not things like entertainment?

I doubt they make either a ILL purchase to be able to watch. I absolutely think they'll make it a Genie+ selection like they did previously with Fastpass. Maybe they'll have ILL for preferred seating much like with the dining packages getting you preferred seating.

Since we're all playing this guessing game, here's my guess: Disney will take a combined approach. A very small number of "viewing tickets" will be available via something similar to the virtual queue system they used for Rise and Webslingers and will be "free" if you have a mobile phone and use it at just the right time and are lucky. Another chunk will be available via Genie+. The final chunk will be available through dining packages.

This sounds very likely.

This sounds chaotic and confusing, which is right up Disney's alley right now. Therefore, I think you've hit the nail on the head!!

Bob Paycheck ought to hire you because that sounds very likely. I do hope dining packages return soon because we really enjoyed the ones we did for WOC, Paint The Night, and Fantasmic. I'd definitely enjoy not having to hassle with getting a spot super early or that panic running to find any open space that's left towards IASMW for parades.

Same. I much prefer the dining package (or dessert party). I like not having to worry about it.

But why spend the money on feeding people and paying staff. Instead sell people into the ILL$ for WOC and Fantasmic.
You can still keep selling out the restaurants like they have been doing without the option for a better view for the show.
Some guests may even buy into dinner and the ILL$ separately.

This could be a reason as to why these reservations have not become available yet.

Don't give them more greedy ideas haha
