Ignore button

I just used it for the first time to avoid seeing post like “what was your first pet’s name?” I want real conversation to engage in.
:hyper2: Then please, please, please post a thread about something "real" that we can discuss. Those inane question threads aren't stopping anyone from doing that and any thread with a shred of potential often goes to many pages, if it doesn't get locked because posters report being offended by what I would consider interesting discussions.

My theory (not that it matters) is that the poster of those questions is not neuro-typical. Perhaps even to the point that the only contact he or she has with the outside world is this forum. Sad. :( But also gratifying to the person on some level or they wouldn't keep doing it. As for why people respond, well, it's pretty much all there is to do here most days. That's not the fault of @Spinneret. The CB has changed so much over the years due to moderation decisions and engaged posters moving on (or being moved on). And those of us that are left really don't seem to be carrying the ball very far in terms of reviving it.

There are a lot of real things to talk about, but any negativity is usually stifled so we are stuck with a whole lot of fluff. It's not so bad on the rest of the threads or boards, but it is hard to not have the world enter into our attitudes and concerns in the community board. Community is basically a place to discuss stuff that isn't Disney and as soon as one gets into that worldly problems raise their ugly heads and we end up with verbal battles or downright terrible posts or the nonsense posts that can very easily be passed on by. Every topic doesn't need to be life altering discussions.

It makes the board so much better. I agree there should be a limit to how many posts a user can start in a day, mainly because of one specific poster. It's not cool to dominate a board in the way they do.
Their posts are fine. Far better than the Dubai escort posts. Those are annoying.

Is there a way to ignore a whole sub thread? I think it is only by poster but I come to the Dis to find out Disney relayed stuff not necessarily to play word games or hypotheticals so I don't always want to scroll through that in the "new posts" section.

Not that I know of. I never look at the new posts section. I click specifically on forum titles, like Community Board, budget board, etc.

You don't find them mentally stimulating?
I love the "Hundred Bottles of Beer on the Wall" thread.

If/when I've complained about these inane posts/threads, the Mods have written back defending them, saying that the posters might just be wanting to increase their message count. I guess when the lunatics are running the asylum....

There’s a difference between spams and just annoying posts. I am in Germany so I assume I probably one of the first ones up on a new day and I notice a lot of times they’ll be mega spam threads all in Chinese or Asian characters like 10 posts at one time; most probably dont see these as they usually get removed right away but I think because I’m up to the time zones I see everything.

It you find this annoying, you should try the TP forum. One posters totally dominates all conversations.
