If DVC cancelled resort hopping...

If DVC cancelled resort hopping...

  • Don't care, we always stay at our home resort

  • Like to sample other resorts, but no big deal if this is no longer available

  • Consider this a major perk, would seriously consider selling

  • Would definitely sell

I own at the Beach Club.. but it books up much faster than Old Key West, which I use for last-minute bookings.

Meteor hitting the planet??? Have you heard something??? If that happened, what would that mean to our DVC membership??? :( :( :(

i voted "no big deal" but i actually fall somewhere in between that, and "i consider this to be a major perk".

i wouldn't seriously consider selling, but i would consider it.

i don't know about "needless worry" though, because our contracts only guarantee so much. and resort hopping is not guaranteed, so it's something to think about and understand as owners. JMHO.

DISers shouldn't work up a worry from posts like this, but they should understand that the fine print clearly states there is a possibility this perk could be removed from DVC.

Since I have yet to stay at other DVC resorts, I voted 'don't care'. The truth is that I probably feel somewhere between 'don't care', and 'no big deal'.
It would actually be a bigger deal for us if the Disney Collection was eliminated.

I'm somewhere in between "no big deal" and "seriously consider selling". As we love OKW, we still like the ability to stay at the other resorts (for variety) if we so desire. It was definitely something we took into consideration when becoming Members. This May, we're heading to HH for a short trip (4 nights). This is something we wouldn't have considered had it not been for DVC and interchangable points. Also, in the future, when our kids are grown, they may find out they also prefer staying at other resorts besides just OKW. They enjoyed staying at BWV last year and I'd hate to see this perk done away with (though I don't feel it will be, but still could happen ?).
So, I think I might consider selling, but in my heart I don't think I really would. You still can't beat onsite accomodations. I wouldn't be as happy with my membership as I am now though.

I voted don't care. We have stayed at all the current WDW DVC's and we no longer have any desire to stray from our home resorts. We own at BWV and BCV and are perfectly content to stay there for the rest of our contract.

We would still always have the option of paying cash to try out another disney resort - be it DVC or otherwise.

PANIC, PANIC, PANIC!

Get a grip! Oh, good grip!

I think its highly unlikely - there are a few more likely scenarios -

SSR owners may not be able to book the current DVC resorts in the final years of their contract if Disney does not allow us to extend our lease or resell the contracts after termination. If SSR turns out to be the last DVC resort, they may be "stuck" there.

And I agree its someone more likely (but still highly unlikely) that DVC would divest itself of HHI or VB than the onsite resorts - making them no longer part of the system.

But neither of these scenarios is important to us. And although I'm looking forward to trying other resorts - we do enjoy BWVs which is our home and have no current plans to take trips anywhere else.

This is tough poll to answer. I own at the three "Homes" I want to stay at, so the loss of hopping would have no real affect on me.

However.... maybe someday I'll want to try SSR or go back to VB. .....

I don't like losing something I already have. I've never pool hopped, doubt I ever will, but I don't like the thought of losing the priviledge.

While a loss like this would anger me, I wouldn't be enough to cause me to sell. It would however influence what I tell prospective buyers. Right now, I'm a walking, talking billboard for DVC. Does DVC want to lose that - and potentially 75000 more like me ?

We are a mix of two responses....for us, it is a major perk but not one that would cause us to sell if it went away. So I answered with the second choice, though it seems to trivialize the importance of the perk.

I voted for the second option - enjoy sampling other resorts, etc. - but after reading the responses I, too, think there is still a category in the middle. I wouldn't even consider selling, but I would be pretty disappointed - not so much because of the resorts at WDW, but because I am looking forward to trying out the beach properties in a couple of years. I think that provides a nice variety to the vacation options.

Meteor hitting the planet??? Have you heard something??? If that happened, what would that mean to our DVC membership???

OH NO! Meteor. Is that covered under the DVC insurance plan? Could they do a special assessment? How much would that cost?

(The way these boards read lately, I must assume the END IS NEAR! There is a man walking around downtown with a sign warning me that the END IS NEAR!)

Hey wait a minute here......I like that clown slide! Luna Park would not be the same without him! LOL!

LOL! or maybe it will take out the new one at OKW too!:jester:

I also would vote somewhere between choices 2 and 3. No, I probably wouldn't sell...probably wouldn't even seriously consider it....we did buy where we wanted to stay based on what was available at the time. Then again, we would be highly disappointed to lose so many great options. And our very small add on at VWL would become more difficult to use if we couldn't add to our stay there using other points.

Granted, we've mostly used our points at our home resorts....except for some last minute reservations where we ended up at OKW, and the one time we've tried BCV....but it would still bug me to not have the option. Then again, we would really love to own some points at each resort where we'd like to stay repeatedly....its in our eventual goals to add more to our VWL contract so its easier to use as well as getting a resale at one of the other resorts...probably either OKW or HH, though we may change our minds if we discover we love SSR or something. Honestly though, we just bought our first house (our third "home" LOL!) and the day when we're ready to add to DVC seems a long way off....so we haven't thoroughly evaluated what we'll want yet.

I don't see this as anything to worry about, then again, those purchasing DVC need to know that its a possibility that is addressed in our contracts.....and its one more reason everyone recommends that you buy where you want to stay! Bringing up these issues is far from having a "the sky is falling" mentality....when making such a huge investment a person should be as informed about the possibilities as they can be.

OK, this is a really silly poll. It ain't gonna happen.
