All I am going to say I refuse to believe that they hijacked a plane with BOX CUTTERS. And I don't believe for a second that a commercial airliner crashed into the Pentagon. Where did the planes wings go to? Where was all the wreckage? And why did they confiscape the security tapes from the gas station or hotel?? Something to hide??? And even the plane in Pennsylvania...where was the wreckage? Looked like it was just...vaporized! How do people from airplanes make cell phone calls? How do you get reception at 20K feet? I can't even get a signal at 10K feet. Too many unanswered questions in my book. It's kind of fun thinking all these theories though, there are some that are WAY far out there! We'll never know!

CLAIM: Two holes were visible in the Pentagon immediately after the attack: a 75-ft.-wide entry hole in the building's exterior wall, and a 16-ft.-wide hole in Ring C, the Pentagon's middle ring. Conspiracy theorists claim both holes are far too small to have been made by a Boeing 757. "How does a plane 125 ft. wide and 155 ft. long fit into a hole which is only 16 ft. across?" asks reopen911.org, a Web site "dedicated to discovering the bottom line truth to what really occurred on September 11, 2001."

The truth is of even less importance to French author Thierry Meyssan, whose baseless assertions are fodder for even mainstream European and Middle Eastern media. In his book The Big Lie, Meyssan concludes that the Pentagon was struck by a satellite-guided missile--part of an elaborate U.S. military coup. "This attack," he writes, "could only be committed by United States military personnel against other U.S. military personnel."

FACT: When American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon's exterior wall, Ring E, it created a hole approximately 75 ft. wide, according to the ASCE Pentagon Building Performance Report. The exterior facade collapsed about 20 minutes after impact, but ASCE based its measurements of the original hole on the number of first-floor support columns that were destroyed or damaged. Computer simulations confirmed the findings.

Why wasn't the hole as wide as a 757's 124-ft.-10-in. wingspan? A crashing jet doesn't punch a cartoon-like outline of itself into a reinforced concrete building, says ASCE team member Mete Sozen, a professor of structural engineering at Purdue University. In this case, one wing hit the ground; the other was sheared off by the force of the impact with the Pentagon's load-bearing columns, explains Sozen, who specializes in the behavior of concrete buildings. What was left of the plane flowed into the structure in a state closer to a liquid than a solid mass. "If you expected the entire wing to cut into the building," Sozen tells PM, "it didn't happen."

The tidy hole in Ring C was 12 ft. wide--not 16 ft. ASCE concludes it was made by the jet's landing gear, not by the fuselage.

This article is very interesting regarding the myths of 9/11. It's called "Debunking the Myths" and it was written in Popular Mechanics magazine. I'd copy and paste, but it's a pretty long article. I love a good conspiracy theory, but this one just doesn't make sense to me. It's an awfully disgusting allegation to make.

I think I have learned the hard way, that it is just better to ignore most "activist" celebs. I admire that the wanna "do something," about the stuff they care about. However, just watch the Oscars and the preshow next opportunity and you'll see how Hollywood really works. It's all about excess, not giving. Next time the SAGS and the Oscars and the rest wanns take all that money that they dump into "gift bags" for the rich and show us how they bought and distributed something of value to those that really need it. Then I WILL be truly impressed by the political activism of celebrity, and might actually listen to a few of them. In the meantime, I think they should keep their hypocritical bashing to themselves. JMHO.

The Maclaughlin Group sometimes acts like they're on acid, that's why it's the best political talk show in town. Although I must admit, Maclaughlin's jabs at Bucannon, and Bucannon's at Maclaughlin's, were much more intersting when Bucannon was thought to be "Deep Throat". Now there was a real conspiracy theory for you.

Secondly--they absolutley could have hijacked a plane with box cutters. Remember, nothing like this had EVER happend on US soil before. All we knew about hijackings was that they could happen, and none of them had ever used a plane to crash into a building.

Believe what you want, and understand that there are many people on this board who were eyewitnesses to what happened on 9/11 and who lost loved ones.

They used the in-flight phones - you know the ones in the headrests in front of the middle seats on most jets. No mystery there!

What happened on 9-11 is horrible and tact should be used there. Talking about conspiracy theories in general is not the same thing and I don't see how it's insensitive at all.

There's whole websites devoted to the supposed underhanded dirty dealing of our government. I once located some of them and it was rather strange to say the least. I don't trust our current government any further than I can throw them but most of this stuff is so far out, it's laughable.

This theory is just a bit too out there for me personally to take the least bit seriously. I can't see that these people believing this stuff is in any way harmful though.

THAT'S why any plane BEFORE and on 9/11 could have been hijacked with box cutters.

It indeed happened on 9/11, but I can almost guarantee you, that because of 9/11, nothing like that will ever happen again with such pitiful weapons. I can't imagine anyone remaining in their seats and not fighting back after witnessing what happened here.
