Wow...very interested in what the premium benefits could be. What if it included some easier path to A-List or potentially access to free EarlyBird or something? That would be awesome!

The news this week has been bad for our game. IHG, southwest and the awful Barclays Arrival Premier.

The hobby always changes and you have to adapt but man... it is WAY harder to collect a lot of points now vs. even three years ago.

1) Don't wait on cards that you REALLY want
2) Don't hoard points forever - use them or lose them, people

Only one camp had the option to mail a check for payment. Rest were pay on their site with the credit card...not to include amex. I could seriously cry b/c that $1800 would have put me so much closer to MSR.

ETA: just remembered another camp I needed to pay...guess what no amex...sigh.

That stinks, but at least you got Visa points since they took that, right? I just recently had to write a $900 check to the high school for AP tests. Grrr really hate writing checks now!

It feels to me that there has been an uptick in the frequency of devaluations + restrictive language + avenue shutdowns (5/24, no more than one Sapphire, no more CP with hotel transfers, now the one personal SW card, etc.) in the past three years. The rules keep changing, the goalposts keep moving, and what you used to be able to do has become much more difficult to achieve. It's taught me that this game is an ever-changing landscape.

I was planning on getting two SW cards later this year so that I could get a CP for 2019-2020 and have been carefully monitoring my 5/24 status with the intent to get a CIP as soon as possible for me in June, then the personal SW cards in Q4. Since I already have a CIC, I'm doubtful about being able to get a third Chase business card (SW) especially as a SAHM. Hopefully there will be more concrete news about the rumored premium SW card soon. I may have to actually BUY Southwest flights or put spending on a SW card in order to get a CP, egads. Haven't paid for a Southwest ticket in three years...

Our county uses the same US Bank payment service that my dd's school and the DMV use, and it doesn't take AMEX. Lot's of MSR screwed up by those. Had to do tuition through plastiq too.

Can we add our kids to our CIP cards and then transfer URs to their SWRR accounts? They each have about 3k points, they haven’t earned points in the last 15 months and I’m afraid they’ll expire. Or what else can I do to keep their points from expiring, they are both under 10.

I buy through the SW shopping portal at least once a year to keep my DD's points active.

Question for those who have airline partner expertise. My sister and BIL recently decided to go to Athens Greece this summer. Not being planners, they started looking at airfare, noted it going up, freaked & booked ASAP. They spent 6k on 5 tickets on SwissAir. Is it worth joining the frequent flyer program for SwissAir? Are those miles easily used on United since they are both Star Alliance?

To piggyback on this, I know they only have a Discover Card and Chase debit. I assume Discover is not widely accepted in Greece, are MC/Visa common? Also does anyone know if Chase has foreign Tx fees on debit cards? Everything I could find seems to say yes but I can’t find it on Chases website. My sister & BIL hate cc and think their debit is the best.

Well, sorta good news from the IHG front, they updated the list of ineligible reward cert hotels and removed the ones that were included but were in the 40k threshold: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/full...hat-are-excluded-from-free-night-certificate/

As DoC pointed out, I'm still concerned that they may raise the points for those hotels later to be able to put them back on the list. I guess grab them while they're still 40k?

Then to make it more fun I read an article today about people taking over your cell number so they get the 2nd authentication texts ugh. Making Mom set up a pin with AT&T if it's not already done so someone can't just make changes to our family plan.

First world MSR problems I went to Kohls to use my Kohls cash and found I also had reward money, I rarely shop there so no idea who, so my 19.99 shirt was 88 cents total. I paid with cash I just couldn't justify. So I used the money from the shirt and got 5 guys cause MSR.
