12k is not bad... i have a 22k MSR im trying to meet... :P
Ugh. I am stressing out at 12k. Can't imagine how much sleep I would loose if it was 22k!

Can I add my dh CIP to MY PayPal, go through Gyft to buy gc's and have it count toward the MSR, while earning 5x UR? Pretty sure I don't want to do it with the SPG, what with all the RATT's running around.

CIP earns 3x
CIC/CI+ earns 5x

but yes, it should work.

Sorry if this has been discussed but has anyone noticed that the Southwest site says Final Days! for the SW Plus personal card at 50,000 bonus points? Our biggest goal for the year is getting DH a CP for 2019 and 2020. I was going to have him double dip in October and get a personal and business card. If he grabs this card now will the bonus points be earned too early for our plan to work? He would then apply in October for the business card :ssst:

I would like to order a few hundred dollars of Disney gift cards from BJs using my discover to get the 5% cash back. Does anyone have any experience with Discover and ordering at the last few days of the quarterly categories. I know my purchases seem to be pending for a few days when I use Discover. Just want to make sure they will still count.
Thanks!

im pretty sure they will. I highly doubt they just shut down and force us into a bad position... from other merging programs like alaska/Virgin A merge, they offered people bonuses(i think it was 10k?) to transfer your miles over. As for what will happen, no one really knows. Most bloggers believe there will be a major devaluation. I discuss this with some pretty knowledgeable churners, most believe Marriott wont devaluated as much since SPG is a pretty big program, an elite one. If you somewhat downgrade it, your gonna piss off quite a lot of people. Remember, SPG was bought in 2016. Marriott has been trying to figure out how not to piss off SPG customers for the past 2 years.

I personally think they will continue allowing the 1:3 into Marriott and the new cards will earn Marriott Points only.

They've handled this transition so well up to this point...I also find it hard to believe that they will screw it up in the 11th hour now.

I agree that they’ve done a good job so far. My biggest concern of course is whether or not they will still be able to transfer to 30+ airline partners. It was literally that, “not knowing” that pushed me into doing the SQ suites at standard rates even though I’ve never been an earn and burn sort of travel hacker. I would hope they give us a heads up. I am also wondering if perhaps only the new Amex premium card that comes out later this year will have the option of airline transfers.

Yeah - with the AMEX once per lifetime rule I hate to see a card go away that we never got.

If that new Barclaycard card has an airline transfer option to AA, I will be going for it! I will also be crossing my fingers that Barclay isn’t implementing a */24 rule for this one. I’d like to also grab that Mercedes Amex Plat card before it disappears. So I’m also crossing my fingers that the new Barclay card comes out in time for me to apply for it and the Amex Mercedes Plat card before it goes away.

It would be too early because these points wou ld post in 2018. You want them all to post in 2019 to get CP for 2019-2020. That's one of my plans for my DH :)

So my 18 yr old college student texts me that she wants me to take her and her 2 friends to wdw this summer. Silly me assumes she just wants me to pay for it so I figure I will bring the younger siblings along to hang with while she is off with her friends.
Well I told her that and she was upset because the girls want to hang with me. What!?!? Well knock me over! The teens think I’m fun! Best.Day.Ever!

Now I’m on the hunt for a good wdw deal may-aug. Hoping to snag something because there is tons of availability!

DD is just 5 months, but this is my dream. I hope I get to be a cool mom.

I think that one goes back and fort between 40K and 50K. The one with the $99 fee is still at 50K as well as the business at 60K.

i think so. it used to be super easy to pull the 30k incognito. It really depends on what you have with chase. If there isnt much left with chase, i would break 5/24 and go for it. I myself was at 3/24 broke out to SPG Personal with the 35k. I already have the quadfecta so there isnt much else i really wanted. I mean 5k missing... isnt much compared to 30k. I think SOMETHING is going on some time in August this year. I saw someone report it on one of the bloggers site about it never though much until it was posted again in /r/churning today... except the /r/churning suggest SPG site going away, which means there might be some changes coming to the program... It kinda scares me.

I don't want the SPG site to go away. I feel like if Marriott was smart, they would keep the programs separate and just allow transferring between. I feel like they could make more money that way.

My backup plan with SW is Target gift cards at $.01 per point. You have to have their CC to cash out via gift cards. I consider it part of my emergency fund. In a pinch I can get almost $6k in Target cards. LOL!

How is this done? I have a SW CC. (I don't ever expect to do this but would like to know in case I need a back up plan.)

Nevermind - I found it. I never knew you could use SW points for more than SW. Keeping it all for travel - but it is good to know...just in case....

DH didn't call Chase yesterday about the CIC. He got home late and wasn't in a great mood from work, so I just figured I would let it slide. I called the status line this morning and it says APPROVED! I am so happy that DH doesn't have to call because when I mentioned signing him up for the IHG card too, he freaked out and said he didn't want any more credit cards. :( I shouldn't have said anything right now.

My plan for meeting the initial spend is to just use this card to pay daycare tuition. That alone will meet the $3k spend in less than 3 months. Then we can use it for basement expenses and take advantage of the 0%.

I maybe should have done this instead of the spg biz offer. I was really torn on which to do but I caved to the higher biz offer. I do think the spg personal is worth burning a */24 spot on if there is nothing else from Chase you are in a hurry to get.
We used one of DH’s 5/24 spots for the SPG personal, he’s only at 3/24 and will drop to 2/24 this summer. We are saving 2 spots for SW CP next year.

I’m glad he got approved. My SO hates calling too and would just call to give my permission to speak on his behalf. Now we don’t even bother and I just pretend to be him. If you and your DH are comfortable with that you can try. One rep was sounded so skeptical and kept calling me Ma’am and probably asked me every security question on file, but it worked out in the end.

I have a friend I'm asking this for...I think they're at 3/24 (2 swa and a kohls cc) they also own a rental apt in town..... I was going to rec. the CSP as they want more points to use for swa etc. (plus learn how to use UR for hotels etc) but would it be smarter to rec. the CIC since it's a special offer right now,and they have the rental? or CSP 1st is best? (don't want to toss a recon call for a biz at a newbie) I was gonna say CSP/60k now, in 2-3 months a Fr./FU? then a spouse referral to rinse and repeat?

SPG Biz doesn’t use a 5/24 slot as it’s a Biz card. Did you mean SPG personal?

Why not recommend the CIP? That’s more points and they can refer each other.

I did have that thought, but I don't sound masculine at all and I worry it would flag him or cause them to decline him.
