Also, I'll be doing a little Priority Pass tour in June! I've got over 3 hours in DEN which has that restaurant and over 3 hours in LA that's timed so if Alaska's lounge is full (it usually is) I'll take the long hike down to the international terminal and check out the Korean Air lounge because what else you gonna do with 3+ hours at LAX?

Has anyone ever used the car insurance benefits on the CSR?

I'm going to Oahu in May to visit family and wondering if it's beneficial to just go with the insurance on the card, or pay extra for the LDW with the rental car company. With how small the parking spots are in Hawaii, I'm kind of worried about renting a car, getting side swiped and the CSR somehow not covering the rental.

So I've been stalking my SPG Biz card online hoping to see when it'll get here. The SPG number is now populated (yea!) and when I check the replacement card section instead of "pending" under shipping address it has my actual address. Does this mean it's on it's way?? It's coming USPS so that'll add a few days, I hoping this meaning it's been shipped.

And to follow up, I just checked my email and saw one from SPG today where they have credited me the stays and nights towards Elite status!
And my stupid question for the day, since they're still separate, if I want to try for an Elite status in SPG I have to stay at the SPG properties, nothing at Marriott will count, correct? The only Marriott benefits at the moment is I can use the card at Marriott and earn extra points and status match? (for which I have no status at either so the last one not helpful at the moment :teeth:)

What did you think of Costco? Do they pretty much have the same stuff as mainland
ones?

Hawaii’s Costcos carry most of the same essentials you’ll find in the mainland, but as others have mentioned they also carry a lot of “local” items, especially foods and snacks that are made in Hawaii and local favorites. Whenever we’re in Hawaii, we hit up Costco and bring back almost a suitcase full of local snacks, 100% Kona/Ka’u/Kauai coffee, honey, macadamia nuts, etc. It’s a good place to shop for Hawaii specialties to gift to friends or family back home.

You’ll probably also find Costco has the cheapest gas on the island.

As expected, I did get the denial on the Marriott Card from Chase. Looks like because 5/24.

I'm trying to decide if I should go for something from someone else, or hold off. I know that I will have some big spends coming up over the summer (orthodontic work for son). It's so hard not to try to collect all the cards. It's like they are Pokemon.

So your teen added $1,600 a year!!?? That sounds outrageously high! Is that normal in your state? Wow! Our coverage w/ State Farm adds on both a good student discount + an accident free discount. I think it was an extra $1,000 when we added our first teen. He was 17 vs 16 when he got his license which helped a little.

Editing . . . who needs a car anyway? Buy your teen a BIKE!! Kidding . . . sorta . . .

think of it long term... if you pay that much now, u may have a life time chauffeur for the rest of your life! :P

DoesNyone else have issues with Gyft cards taking up to 24 HRs to process because awaiting approval from card issuer or something? I wanted to grab some extra stuff at sams just now and went in to buy another Walmart gift card and it gave me the message again....grrr...so I just cancelled it and lost 200 Potential points. I wasn’t surprised yesterday when that was my first gift card purchase but was super annoyed to see it happen again today.

Did u do the verification process? if not, this 24 hour approval is what happens often if u dont.

if you do get sideswiped, CSR will cover you just fine. CSR will cover your rental car and rental car only. but if its the other way around, you would need to cover damages on the other party. I think it would be better to use your own car insurance + a secondary placed credit card.

I got a pending review on my SPG business card. Is there a number I can call to talk to someone like I would if a Chase card was under review? I need this card sooner than later. Thanks!

Been trying to catch up from the last few days...

Just to drag out the cruise talk... I've been watching the new price thread because we're trying to plan a family cruise next summer, where we would be splitting the in-laws cost with Dhs siblings... eek! Had me looking at other lines not for this trip, but put of curiosity for just us in the future. Dh always wants to book every up charge package that comes along, so he's pretty skeptical of anything else. Sms we've only done a 3 night cruise on the Dream.

did you Uber from the airport too? how did it go?
We've drove to and from the Dolphin a couple times now, always easy, 10 min wait at most. It's been between $25 and $35 each time with tip

Just a heads up, the DEN restaurant is supposed to close. . Not sure when yet.

I’m looking to book a DCL cruise on Thursday when public booking opens for new 2019 cruises.
I’m working on spend for SPG Biz, a couple hundred from finishing spend on BOA Premium Rewards Card. I also have Discover Card and CSP. Which would you put cruise deposit on? (CSP & BOA are both 2 point/$; Discover is 1% but plan is to book thru Costco which should be 5%)

Way behind and might be missing something here, but Costco Travel only accepts Visa and MasterCard (https://www.costcotravel.com/Info/Terms-And-Conditions). I know they just pass the payment to Disney, but they will only take those as payment. If you book directly and then transfer it to Costco, I guess you could get around it that way, but then it wouldn't be 5% category I suppose. Just thought I would share since I booked my cruise through them today and they definitely only offered the two options.

One other unrelated Costco Travel tip I learned today is that they will either keep you on hold while they call Disney or will offer call you back once they get them on the line. I was so grateful to stop listening to hold music and just wait for the call. It went well, but took 1 hour to get a Costco agent on the line, and 2.5 for them to reach Disney. I feel for travel agents right now.

I didn't book anything this time around, but I distinctly remember the entire process taking 2-3 hours on the last release date. Getting in touch with Costco was quick. Their hold time with DCL was long. I'm so used to it, I don't even mind anymore.

You can also pay Costco with Disney gift cards. They just call DCL and pass the gc numbers along.

Oh no! I want to use it when we fly in April. I just can't win with the lounges. Wasn't open yet when we flew last two times...was gonna use the one at MCO getting out in Sept but no, Irma had to come plowing through and we had to evac and it took two hours just to get through security. Almost missed our flight home. Sad :(

@Albort what is the verification process? Yesterday it said up to 24 hours and I went ahead with it. It posted in a few hours. Apparently that didn't do much for future purchases because today I got the same message again.

OK- need a little kick in the pants. I've been hovering over applying for the SPG Biz for the past couple of days. My card count and apps are fine - and I have work travel planned that will put a big dent in the MSR, so thats ok too. What I'm struggling with is losing out on the UR for all those travel dollars! Someone remind me that 35k starpoints will be very helpful for future travel (even though I don't have a specific trip planned to use them yet) and the return on my spend will still be good. The MSR on the CIP was much less painful, because the travel charges were still getting 3 UR points, at least... That spend went way faster than I expected (work travel, summer camp payment) but the 7k is going to take me a while.

Should I do the SPG Biz or wait a little bit and do one of the Chase Freedom products (and keep using my CSR for travel!)

Man! I was hoping to hit the Denver restaurant. I will be flying through Denver this weekend, so I may get to use it at least once. My layover isn't long - trying to figure out how much time I will need to allow to drop in and grab a quick bite to eat (I realize a steak would take a while, but hopefully a sandwich would be doable...)
