Wish me luck!
I am going into a Chase branch to open a new CIU. It is for a legitimate LLC business with its own EIN and a Chase business checking account already. No advantage to doing it online, since no more supports to be earned now.
I had just got lazy about applying under actual business names because opening as a sole proprietor was so easy and less documentation needed.
I have multiple businesses. The usual documentation needed (utility, rent bills, etc.) are billed to a separate business entity (that I am also the principal of).
I actually do need a business card in the name of this LLC. Just don't have any address documentation. IRS letters go to a UPS box.
Let's hope that it is easier to get approved in a branch!
DP for in branch CIU application:
The hardest part was waiting for a banker. I had made an appointment in advance but somehow got double booked, so had to wait a bit.
Once I sat down with someone it was easy peasy. I handed him my ID, my personal debit card, and the debit card for the LLC I wanted to open the card for. He asked some basic questions like annual business income, estimated monthly spend, and current personal income.
He didn't ask me anything else that would normally be needed on the online application (names, EIN, addresses, SS, email, phone, etc.) Apparently, everything is populated by the profile on his computer.
I do not know if in branch made approval easier. But we were literally chit chatting after he asked me the 3 questions plus which card I was there to apply for and the next thing I know is he printed out some documents for me to sign, put some paperwork in a folder, and slid the folder over to me and told me that I was all set.
I actually had to ask him "was I approved?" He answered yes, with a $xx,xxx CL, a $900 sign up bonus for $6k MSR in 3 months, and I should be getting the card within like 7-10 business days.
Glad I got that done before the elevated SUB ends.
TBH, I get more anxiety applying for cards online, although being able to apply in my PJs at 2am is a big plus. I think because we were chit chatting the entire time he was typing away, I didn't have time to get the normal knots in my stomach or remember to hold my breath while hitting the submit button and watching the computer "spin." I normally have to work up my courage the entire day in order to sit down at the computer to apply on line.
I never even knew when he filled out the application or submitted on my behalf.
