Darn it!!

I had FOMO and decided to pull the trigger. No approval. My application is being reviewed. 😭

I suspect it is because I just applied for the JetBlue Barclay card last week and then gave my in obscene CL. I haven't even received that first card yet!

Any chance or DP on calling for recon? Or do I need to wait for snail mail? They stated that I should hear in 10 days...
applied for P2, not approved. Your application is being reviewed. Is that a kiss of death with Barclays?
Applied and got "your application is under review" message. Guess I will wait and see if I get approved!
So far I've stayed in good graces with Barclays so I can't help with any of this, but I hope all 3 of you guys get quick approvals! 🤞🤞

I don't think I saw mention on here of this, but Chase is doing a 10M UR giveaway sweepstakes and you can sign up daily, although you need to have certain cards in order to be eligible. May the odds be ever in your favor!

While on the topic of giveaways, DH has some Hyatt GoH he can gift, as well as some SUA, and Club Lounge access awards. These expire on 2/28/25. So if you have a trip coming up (completed by 2/28/25) and think you can use one of these, hit me up with a DM.

The AF in my DH's Citi Business AA card hit recently and I was thinking of canceling. But now that Citi will be AA's only partner, I don't want them angry. He already has another no-fee Citi card that he's keeping. Would canceling affect his chances of getting the card again in a few years? I don't know how sensitive Citi is about these things...

I need to learn how you do it. Normally when I check I can't find anything good, plus we used Avios for Japan because we already had them sitting there and we could book a few weeks earlier through BA than through AA. Looks like I need to do a lot more research into AA.
There is a page that tells you what's available for the amount of miles you have for any specific dates. I have used it to find flights to MCO from my little airport for 13k RT.

It looks like the Original Freedom is the only one missing that earns CUR which I have 3 of.... :( But I have plenty of others to enter although I never win it is at least a shot.

Thank you!

So the Barclay's thing....

I am 2/24 at the moment but that's for Chase (which I am avoiding)...

What does Barclay's look for as far as recent inquiries, recently opened cards, etc?

Finally got Global entry for my youngest approved. So the 4 of us went in Friday. 3 got approval emails within an hour and she did not (she was also the youngest & did not get fingerprints no idea if this threw off the guy). Called Tuesday and got transferred to him. He claimed everything is fine and to wait. Today I log in and her application still is stuck on ‘conditional approval’ but she also has an interview for 12/11. Needless to say I panic a bit. I call in again. The lady (so definitely someone else) looks at it and no the guy did not hit approved on their end even after I called in to check! Argh!!!

At least it’s approved now.

OK Citi is really weird! I applied/got approved for the Citi AA card on Monday (I think it was Monday) and posted here that they conveniently gave me my card number immediately so I made a purchase right away only to realize that the temporary card number was only good for purchases made on aa dot com, and for travel. (My purchase was NOT for travel). When I logged into my Citi account, it showed "pending".

This morning I logged in again and the purchase has gone through/posted! I'm happy, but that's weird right?

Yeah.... I'm def getting AA fomo here,on an airline I have used once as backup in an emergency lol..... I just can't seem to see any decent flight options from my home airport for my usual flight needs on their site (I like that link posted above however) ..... I'm tossing around the idea of jumping in just to have them b/c it's such a deal, but then I did that with HA a couple of months back (and hoping to find a good use for those too) .... ........... my usual flight needs are simple and basic, I've flown swa for many years, mainly domestic, easy to use etc. I'm a little worried about having AA miles to worry about upkeep and use.... (it will not simplify my life, and I like simple) sighhhhhh

Interesting how three of us in a row got this.

I just got the "under review" as well. Dang it, with that and the recent Ink denial, it's getting a little frustrating. I've never had a Barklays card at all. My daughter's tuition is due the first of Jan and I can only use a Visa, MC or Discover so no use getting another AMEX right now.

Hmm... we'll be in DR at an all inclusive later this month. Wondering if they'll let us use a Club Lounge access award there... Anyone had any luck using them at AIs? I did send them an email, but who knows if I'll get a reply, or the right reply, lol. If they'd let me use it, I'd love one! It would give us the lounge access, private pools for club, and better in room liquor, I guess.

Barclays seems to be hit or miss on inquiry sensitivity. I was rejected for multiple business card applications over the last two months, but after reading the DOC article, I applied and was instantly approved for the AAdvantage Aviator Red card, despite having about 15 inquiries over the last 24 months.

In this game, you should always shoot your shot if you want the card.
