Oh man, ya'll are funny! I get great value out of AA miles. In fact, I can never get enough!! Now that Barclays is going to dry up eventually... the only remaining way to get AA miles would be Citi, which I believe IS only every 2 or 4 years signup. Such a bummer. I've seen rumor of Citi TY points maybe being able to transfer to AA once the sole agreement goes through. If so, that would be quite nice!

Curiosity question here….. I opened a Capital One Venture card for the sign up bonus but also with the intentions to continue using it as our main credit card until we want some other bonus 😊 That said, I’m still trying to learn the in’s and out’s. I see that they offer additional miles for tons of vendors online if you click the link and order through it. I’ve done a couple but my question is – where do I see those bonus amounts show up? I know it said can take multiple cycles – do you find that to be true? I think I’ve been spoiled with the Chase % back rewards (they seem almost instant) and I’m probably just not being patient.

When I log in to my account, I click on “My Rewards” and then “Earn Activity” - am I even in the right area? Basically I’m trying to figure out if I’m not patient or if its just the site navigation skills I am lacking. Is there a separate way to identify the bonus amount?

It’s certainly not a deal breaker but I’m just curious 😊

So crazy, I just tried again in Firefox, got the same error. Then I tried in Microsoft Edge, and it went through. Wonky. APPROVED with an absurd credit limit, lol.
Same, mine is higher than our brand new car loan.
Y'all are influencers. I just applied for it and got it. I have a bunch of old AA miles and struggle to use them, so why not get more? :faint:
Hahahahaha, yeah, I finally got rid of all mine, and dh still has some from our run way back when, and yet now I want more.
We can't earn enough AA miles. We have used them to fly home from Paris, to Japan in J, and Qatar Suites. Plus to Mexico to visit my grandparents several times.

I transferred over 200K URs to Singapore Air yesterday. They haven't shown up yet. I read that it usually takes 2 days, meaning I will hopefully have them by tomorrow (Friday), but sometimes it can take 7 days!! That's no bueno, as my first chance to book these flights is Monday at 1am! If it takes 7 days, I lose that chance. I guess I should have transferred well in advance... my mistake. I'm so used to Hyatt being instant, sigh...
For those that have transferred URs to Singapore Air, how long has it taken for you? Looking for your experience to calm my nerves here, lol. I was already stressed out about transferring so many points... this is possibly pushing me over the edge a bit 😂😭

For those of us that haven't applied for the AA Barclays' card, this might be your last chance.

I think I've gotten pretty much everyone in my family to sign up for this card in the past few months, lol. I wish I had gotten mine earlier than last year so I could cancel it and get another...

I need to learn how you do it. Normally when I check I can't find anything good, plus we used Avios for Japan because we already had them sitting there and we could book a few weeks earlier through BA than through AA. Looks like I need to do a lot more research into AA.

Living near a hub really helps! I can find fantastic deals for domestic flights from CLT. With a 70k SUB, for example, we were able to book 2 roundtrip flights to Dominican Republic, 2 roundtrip to Bozeman/Jackson for a Yellowstone trip, and 2 roundtrip to Grand Junction, CO for a Moab UT trip. And we still have 24k miles left which will get us at least 2 more roundtrip flights, probably use them for Orlando or Chicago. We'll be using our next round of AA miles to fly home from Vietnam next year, with a layover in Japan.

this is my problem, they fly so few places direct from MSP that they are hard to use.

Darn it!!

I had FOMO and decided to pull the trigger. No approval. My application is being reviewed. 😭

I suspect it is because I just applied for the JetBlue Barclay card last week and then gave my in obscene CL. I haven't even received that first card yet!

Any chance or DP on calling for recon? Or do I need to wait for snail mail? They stated that I should hear in 10 days...

applied for P2, not approved. Your application is being reviewed. Is that a kiss of death with Barclays?

Thoughts on timing between closing and applying for various Chase business cards?

Hubby was up to 3 (2 CIC, 1CIP) so he closed his oldest CIC 11/24 in anticipation of starting the SW CP game with a SW bus card in December.

Should I wait until the 24th to refer and app his new card? Or do we think it won't matter? Want to have it open by 1/1 so he gets the bump on CP RR calculator for having a card open in the new year. I know Chase has been really tightening up on bus cards, but we didn't hit them as hard as some of the folks on here. He did two in '23 and this would be only his second in '24 (last was July).

i tried thru edge and firefox for dh's aplication. errors
i did JB as well, still waiting on card so figured dhs hould apply for this one. i'll try chrome next

I feel like this is the doldrums for finding a new MSR at the moment....am I alone in this? I've been coasting along, but knowing I have some larger bills next month,I'd like to have something ready to use...just can't seem to find anything worthwhile to go for.... I was letting my chase apps breathe (last CiU 9/2/24) and I still have 2 CiU open and a CiC.... already got the CSR (about to pc) and just not sure what I want next....got enough beloved ihg points for awhile, but my old school $49 AF card doesn't get me 4th night free benefits so I'm considering pc'ing up on that one....(should I?)
I have been thinking the same thing about lack of good options.

I may jump on this AA Barclay train too. I've never thought about AA miles, but a family member in Dallas is having a baby in Jan and I hope to visit frequently. There are several nonstops per day from my home airport. If I don't use them all for that, it sounds like they are valuable for partner airlines.
What about the Hilton Aspire card? I like that it gives you 1 FNC / year, diamond status plus the resort and airline credits.
Great recommendation. I love my Aspire!

Help with rewards math please!

I am second guessing myself. The newly approved JB Barclay for me and the Citibiz AA for Mom are no shows in the mailbox today and the insurance bill is due tomorrow, so I'm going to pay it tonight.

The insurance amount is $727 and one of our businesses will be reimbursing us back the amount.

Option #1 - Use CSR and utilize PYB. (58,160 UR discounted from 72,700 UR). Net savings of 20% = $145? Reimbursed $727 from business to be applied to card balance towards other card charges and use up 58,160 URs.

Option #2 - Use CIU and earn 1.5 points on $727 = 1090 URs = $10.90. Business pays the bill directly.

I'm kind of learning towards #1 but I will be sad to see 58,160 URs go bye bye...

Is my math correct? Anything I am missing?

TIA

My no af AA barclays card is my 2nd oldest and highest cl. It's the only reason I still have it. Going to have to decide if it's worth keeping with the switch to citi. I'm guessing they won't have a no af card.
Citi does face a no AF AA card

Math looks correct to me. If the business is paying I would go with option #2 to end up with 59,250 (1,090 from purchase and 58,160 from not redeeming them)
