Just to be clear, you have to spend $1250 to get the $250 back (at 20% off). Is it all restaurants, as in McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A etc, or a super specific list like the 15x on the Plat offer you posted earlier? I didn’t see any disclaimers on it but I wasn’t sure.

When I had the prior Resy Platinum offer that included $300 cash back on restaurant purchases, it was ALL restaurants for me. I never had one not qualify, including fast food/take out. I don't know if it would work with Uber Eats/Door Dash, but all direct restaurant purchases worked for me.

Our Maui Residence Inn reservations for 7/22 dropped in points recently. Check your Marriott reservations.
I almost switched over to Wailea Beach Resort, since we would only need to transfer 7,500 URs over to Marriott, but that means we would also have to pay $440 in resort fee for 2 rooms. We won’t be spending too much time in our rooms anyways so I hope the Residence Inn doesn’t disappoint.
OMG I'd switch in a heartbeat....that resort is in the nicest area to stay....that beach path is everything:love:

I'm really torn, I was looking forward to having a small kitchenette at the RI since that will be days 5-10 after spending 5 days at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. But I've also read some good reviews about the Wailea BR and I know our girls would love the pool/beach there since the Hyatt doesn't have a great pool.

Found an 'old' offer for $10 off $50 at Amazon. Started to do an Amazon gift card reload.

But, has anyone done a reload and got the credit? Maybe 10 minutes before seeing the offer I did a small Amazon order. We are prime so didn't need to spend a minimum.

Went ahead and put a $50 gift card on our account. First canceled original item order. Then loaded gift card. Reordered item. If nothing else, we will probably do another amazon order before it expires in 4 days. Hey, $10 is $10!

So, I only spent $4 of my Brilliant credit in the last year and my anniversary is fast approaching.

So I called The Westin on Maui that my son will be at for their honeymoon and paid the resort fee. I also booked and paid for a beach cabana that they were going to book. Both showed as Westin in Maui but only the resort fee credited back. The beach rental is done under a separate service, even though it shows 'Westin'.

So, now I have a small amount left. Guess I'll hop over to Marriott and buy a gift card.

And happy I didn't book the $400 amenity they were also booking.

Weddings do get expensive.

I have 2 sets of suite night awards. Looked at upgrading them, but.....neither upgrade offered seemed worth it. If one is available my status should pick it up anyway. On the other hand, 5 of the suite night awards will expire on 12/31/2021.

Checking the website, the rooms they are offering as upgrades do not come up as cash options. I'm slightly confused on this whole thing - suite options offered, I mean.

One offer is a 1 bedroom, the other offer is a high floor.

On the website availability is for a different tower only - which I wish they were in, but the point cost was something in the millions. Would have been nice to get that upgrade, but that looks like a pie in the sky wishful thinking.

Anyway, they are pretty happy to be going and very happy to get a room on my points.

well...I have limited Hawaii experience. Only been once, and it was to WBR. I felt like I was in heaven. Rooms were typical hotel rooms,I felt quite spacious. Just the wide open sweep of that lobby, sitting there with my morning coffee, watching the pools, water birds etc. was like a dream come true. Walking the beach path was just so lovely. The pools were varied, and lots of fun. It was convenient to walk/visit the other resorts along that beach, the views are just endless....there were places to rent your own snorkel stuff at the store(walkable) and snorkel right off the beach rocks there, lots of sea turtles right near shore daily, I sat on the edge of the rocks and watched Humpback whales breaching.... I never wanted to leave! In fact we rarely left that walking area our whole week.....I'd switch if I had a choice between the two. The other sounds.... practical, but the Wailea Beach resort area is just gorgeous.

Step 1: Make sure you register with each hotel chain and have a rewards number/online account for booking stays. If you apply for any co-branded cards (Chase Hyatt/Marriott or Amex Hilton/Marriott), you will include your rewards number on the application so that points earned as a sign up bonus are directly deposited into your account.

Step 2: Map out your favorite hotels in the area you are staying. If it's a major brand (Marriott/Hilton/Hyatt) you can design a card/sign up bonus strategy around those hotels. Otherwise, look to the Ultimate Rewards portal to see if your chosen hotel is offered and then consider getting the CSR for 1.5x redemption rates or CSP for 1.25x redemption rates.

At 3/24, you should try to maximize the number of business cards you get before crossing over. You could also consider subsidizing your flight to Germany with airline miles instead of just focus on hotels. Also, although the transfer rates are bad, some airlines will allow transfers to hotel points (if you're just short of a redemption goal). If you can hit the larger minimum spending requirements, Amex business charge cards that offer Membership Rewards would be great for transferring to airlines that fly internationally. Amex MR can also transfer to Hilton at 2:1 or 3:1 during a promotion. The Resy Gold card offer (https://resy.com/amex-offers?date=2021-08-17&seats=2) of 60,000 MR and $250 cash back on restaurant purchases for $4,000 spend is one of the best bang for your buck offers out there. The Platinum offer is great too, but has a higher spend and you would need to maximize the credits to offset the higher annual fee.
Thanks! Great info! I'll look at the Resy Gold. I have flights booked on United from Houston to Frankfurt (transferred UR points from my CSR). Also have the CF and a CIP to help build up my UR's and DH has finally become a reluctant P2 and I've managed to get him a CIC, a CIP, and currently working on a CIU as well. We don't stay in hotels often (we cruise a lot with DCL so stay in the floating hotel). However, our daughter will be stationed in Germany until November 2023. They are 1.25 hours from Frankfurt. She's expecting a baby November 8th so we will do mostly short trips from their house, other than Disneyland Paris.
We also have a DCL cruise booked for Sept 2022 out of Dover, England, so planning a few days in London pre-cruise. Will need a hotel for that stay.

If P2 is still at 0/24, consider getting him a CSP while its at 100,000 UR. If you prefer United as your airline, there's a personal United Quest card that also has 100,000 miles as a SUB. One or both of you can also register an EIN for your "business", which will double the number of business cards you can get (you still have to reduce or manage your total credit with Chase) as Chase considers an EIN business different than a SSN business. Hilton/Marriott/IHG will have more choices for you internationally, but if there is a Hyatt available it's the best use of UR for stays.

I got the United Quest in June. Already hit the first level ($5000 for 80,000 United miles). Should get the remaining 20,000 miles by September. The United Quest biz card is offering 150,000 miles. May have P2 get that in a few months if it is still around. He has an EIN for his business. I manage his office and only put business expenses on the biz cards. Does Chase not frown on so many business cards? We do all of our business banking at Chase so they know all of the cards we have.
My main airline for US travel is Southwest. I still have a CP that expires Dec 2021. Have only used it a few times since Covid, but hoping to renew SW cards in the end of 2020 - just waiting on a great bonus. Cancelled my SW business card in May 2021. Earned the bonus in May 2018. Its every 24 months with SW, right?

Chase primarily cares about your ratio of total credit to income and wants you to stay below 50% and also spacing out your applications 2-3 months between cards. But, my general rule is if they keep giving them, I'll keep taking them. My last time through I got to 6 cards before they started denying me (SSN: CIP/CIC/Marriott Biz + EIN: CIP/CIC/CIU). After a two year break and drop to 3/24, I just got approved for SSN CIU and will be closing out old cards and trying for more.

SW is 24 months. The only family with enhanced restrictions is the Sapphires at 48 months (for now).

Does anyone have a good Japan itinerary for a family with teens?? Already dreaming of a visit to Japan in 2023.

Thank you! I totally forgot your wrote a TR! Did you think 4 days of Disney is needed? We probably will only have 15 days there.

You can't hop the first two days. That's also figuring they keep their tickets the same. I think thr most you can get is 4 days otherwise it's separate tix to get more days.

I don’t think you have to do 4 days but it definitely helps be able to see everything at a slow pace. They’ve added rides since we went too and they’re in the process of building an entirely new section at disneysea. I think 3 days is the minimum I’d ever do

Our own Haley R has excellent tips. Her report and advice on the Japan forum inspired me to plan a trip
in April 2020. Of course that got canceled because of Covid. Kids were heartbroken but hoping to go
in 2023

DH and I got rear-ended last night. He's really in pain this morning and I'm doing sort of ok on massive advil doses. I think we will wind up renting a car for a couple weeks (even though my policy doesn't cover it) because I have to go to philadelphia to help out my DD (her DH is getting back surgery). I'm so overwhelmed, I can't think straight. What credit card for a rental car? And will the cheapest rate be through enterprise with the insurance discount or should I look around? DH is pushing for a new car, but really is is not so terribly damaged. I just don't know.
