Would the 2020 points not go back to 2020? I thought that was supposed to happen, but I'm not sure. I don't think much of anyone is at this point.

I’m not sure. I think they became 2019 points when I borrowed them from 2020. So they’d go back to 2019. But if I cancel the May trip after March 31, it will be too late to bank them.

We were supposed to be flying to DC this weekend to see the cherry blossoms. We were going to use our last unrestricted FN certs from IHG/Chase to stay at The Willard. Due to the current guidelines from the CDC, we decided to cancel our trip. Unfortunately, these unrestricted FN certs will expire in a few days. IHG says it will take 7-10 business days to find out if they can be extended. Still have to cancel our flights but am waiting another day or two before calling. We made DVC reservations the first weekend of April to replace the NYC cancelled Broadway show trip with my niece. I am pretty sure that won't be happening either. But, I will wait until we get the official word.

I’ve read on the DVC boards that they are allowing people to return the borrowed points to 2020...not sure if it’s a YMMV situation or not

Can't answer your questions but you can only pay a mortgage with plastiq with a mc or discover, no visa or amex and no more gift cards.

Are there any ulitiies you can prepay?
I just discovered that. Not sure what I am going to do. I think my only option is buy some no fee Visa GCs at Office Depot during the next promotion and use them to pay for groceries. My dh pays the utilities. I do have a $600.00 payment for horse insurance due April 1st that will help (for those that remember, he has been for sale for almost a year, the horse that was a "great buy" when I purchased him in the fall of 2018, sigh). Of course that would involve removing myself from social distancing to visit a store, which I don't really want to do, other than for groceries.

I've been trying to hold out hope for our 4/9-4/18 WDW trip and still haven't cancelled, but at this point I just don't see it happening. So tonight I'll be sitting down with family to decide if there are other dates that might work for all of us. We have 5 rooms booked for a total of 15 people for this trip and I really worked hard to plan this one, as we had some first timers and we were taking along our niece and nephew who haven't been in over 10 years. My nephew just signed up with the Army so it's not likely he will be able to come with us for any dates we'd pick. 😭 I'll try to hold out as long as we can, but I also want to have a backup plan in place so I can take care of moving us as quickly as possible - hoping I can find something that will work for all of us.

It's been an absolute whirlwind for my biz lately working on moving clients trips and cruises. Still working on finalizing a few more March clients, then it's on to April. Right now it feels like there's no end in sight, so having to figure out my own April trip right now is like a kick in the gut. I have trips booked in June, July and September already. Really hoping we don't have to make any changes to those. Just have to wait and see.

Schools here in Louisiana have been closed for 4 weeks beginning Monday 4/16 by order of the governor. The state also said they will not be extending the school year to make-up work. The last day of school here is 5/25. Our area schools were already scheduled to have spring break 4/10 - 4/17 so they originally told us our kids would return on 4/20 meaning they are out for a full 5 weeks. Now there is talk of our parish school board having a meeting to grant our superintendent the authority to go against state guidelines and have the kids make-up what they miss by extending the school year. I imagine this will cause quite an uproar in the area as folks will no doubt have strong feelings on both sides of this issue. Not looking forward to this announcement.
They have already closed restauarants (only drive-thru and curbside pickup allowed), bars, gyms, parks, movie theaters, etc. here. As of today, churches have also cancelled services including all weddings, funerals, etc for the next 30 days and dentist offices have been ordered to close except for emergency procedures for the next 30 days. Strange thing is, at my office it's business as usual. No one seems to be concerned much, besides me. I feel like we should be thinking about our options to work from home, but there is zero talk about it thus far. The girl in the office next to mine was out sick all last week. She saw a doctor who tested her for flu and it came back negative so he told her she had a "severe respiratory infection," gave her meds and sent her home. Our manager contacted her a few times throughout the week. She said she continued to feel worse - horrible cough, fever, shortness of breath....all the signs. Low and behold, she shows up Monday morning, still coughing but looking as if she "feels" better. I asked my manager if she had seen a doctor for a follow-up and she said it was no problem since she was no longer running fever and felt better. Ummm, why am I the only person questioning this?? The president of our company is in his 70s, has underlying health conditions, and has been experiencing shortness of breath recently. I swear, I feel like I'm a crazy person - or at least that's how everyone at this office is looking at me. They all just think everything is all good and there's nothing to worry about. Sorry for the rambling, guess I just needed to get that out...LOL.

Got an email from my favorite liquor store last night that they are expanding their delivery radius and although they aren't closed yet, they are monitoring things and asking people not to come in if delivery is an option. Things are getting real y'all. The restaurants and bars are closed as well, but still open for delivery.

So we ordered fried chicken and booze, drank a little too much, went to bed, and rolled out of bed this morning and fixed strong coffee before logging on for work. 10/10, will repeat again tonight.
I actually kinda wish I could do that. I’m a little jealous DH can work from home, no commute, can work in his jammies (though he doesn’t)
Well DH starts work from home indefinitely today. He commandeered my office, busted down my desktop Mac and put up his massive multi monitor setup. :rolleyes2
DH has a laptop, 2 monitors and multi line phone set up on a desk in the 6 feet between the dining room table and living room chairs.
this got me thinking..... how exactly (again) does one cash out points?
For Chase, you can do a statement credit or deposit to your bank account. You can go to the UR portal and look at the menu on the left (3 horizontal lines) or top for Cash Back.
Have you guys seen the one with penguins going on a field trip inside Shedd Aquarium? Too cute.

I was just about to post this. They are cute!
Thank you. The rest of her friends are fur. Disney Jr friends, chipmunk friends, hundred acre woods friends...
Your picture is so cute! She makes a great Alice.

So I’ve not cancelled SW flights before. When I look to cancel, it asks travel credit or CC. Since the taxes were covered by Amex travel credit, should I just do a SW credit? I also have EBCI, same?

Will you be able to use the SW credit before it expires ?
For the EBCI...before all of this the only way to keep it was to keep the same confirmation number by changing your flight to another date, not cancel....

Not cc related, but it seems like it’s ok for us to post this kind of stuff during these extraordinary days.

NYC mayor will make a decision within 48 hours regarding putting the city in lockdown, akin to San Francisco. I have a gut feeling this is going to happen, and that my state, which made an agreement just the other day with NY and NJ about gyms, theaters, and restaurants, will shortly follow suit. I’ve been staying in anyhow, with the exception of going to the track to walk everyday ( and the track is pretty much empty), but this will be difficult. Necessary, perhaps, but still difficult.

I’ve been trying to see if AA posts any relief for trips purchased with miles but I don’t see it and I’ve looked all over the website. I think I’m going to have to cancel our April trip to NYC (or change to August). It was their big Christmas gift and first time there. I’m hopeful that my AmEx Plat credit will cover the cancel fee but I doubt it ($275) and it’s going to be near impossible to spend it some other way this year.
All 4 kids plus my husband and me are working from home so this is a zoo. My parents are here too - immuno compromised and diabetic - but they don’t have a care in the world. People are complaining about the 20-somethings but these 70-somethings are making me>:(

There was no chicken, frozen or fresh, at any store I went to. That's basically the only "meat" we eat, so I need to find some. I did find eggs and bought a few packs for myself and also for my sister who has been on an unsuccessful hunt at Aldi and Bilo for eggs.

It's bizarre. I've been trying to get chicken for over a week now, and nothing. Fresh, frozen, whatever. Tried through delivery, too, and nothing. My Mom also needs some. DH took a long walk today, and he ended up at Safeway (where they had no chicken yesterday) and came home with a couple packs. Then a dear friend went to Whole Foods today and found me brought me a couple packs of ground turkey breast. Suddenly I feel like I won the lottery. :rotfl:

Yeah I just made DH lunch which was bizarre lol. It's amazing how many dishes and laundry you go through being at home. I'm trying to wash our towels extra right now too.

Same here. DH is home full time, DD is suddenly home and can't leave, and while I did have some food saved up it wasn't enough for the 3 of us (plus my Mom, who I take groceries to since I don't want her going out at all). I think our dishwasher and washing machine are wondering what's up.

I also have a flight booked with AA miles that I'm going to need to cancel. It is the flight on British Airways to Glasgow on March 29 that my DD and I are no longer doing. I played with what would happen if I cancel online, but when I click through the steps, it ends up with a statement that you will need to call AA after you cancel to request redeposit of the miles and that a fee might apply. So I did not complete the process. I'm waiting a few more days to put off the ordeal of calling AA to see if BA will cancel the flight first.

I was able to rebook a rental car in July for $130 less this morning. At this point I’m not overly optimistic about the trip happening, but I’m not giving up yet 😊

I checked a couple of mine last week and they were exactly the same as they had been when I originally booked- thanks for reminding me that I need to check again.

Actually... now that I think about it I believe one will have to be canceled but maybe not (we are discussing alternative plans since MouseAdventure at DL for May 17 got canceled).

A friend of mine was sort of in a similar situation. Stepmom is an ER nurse so exposed to a lot. They all mutually decided child would stay with mom for now instead of going back and forth to minimize spreading of anything. Mom is encouraging constant phone and video calls to dad. As hard as it is, I think they made a great decision.
Hmmm that's an idea. Not sure my husband would go for it but I'll run it past him.

Aside from hitting the I'm at home and don't want to be working wall after lunch, the system has decided to do it's typical slowdown but at least I'm down to 9 min left in the day. If outlook had been slow all day I think I'd have given up, not really but only kinda not really.

ETA. I dont think I could perm work at home without an actual office. The change of scenery is needed for me.

Our kiddos our officially home for the rest of the school year - the governor ordered all Kansas schools closed. Luckily DH and I are officially working from home now fulltime, as of yesterday. Not sure how this is all going to work out. I really hope our schools provide some online learning. I can help the kids during the day in the afternoon, but I have to be able to make phone calls during business hours so I can't help all day.

I don't think they have a choice. They have almost 1,000 cases in NYC.

My town closed all parks and playgrounds. I can understand play structures, like slides and swings, but parks? I went to the track yesterday to walk, and had been planning to continue, but now I guess I’ll have to go to the next town over, as long as they stay open.
Playgrounds I get but parks? Wow.

yes! That was adorable

You’re not crazy. I feel the same way about it, and I’m shocked at how many people are not taking it seriously. It seems like there’s only the two extremes of NBD and panic, with little in between.

Well, like @wendow's DD, mine is heading home too. She is doing some laundry and then going to drive home. A friend will join her for the ride and fly to NJ from here.

I told them to get out of FL asap, because as more is announced, traffic coming home will get bad.

She actually moved there in Jan and has a year long lease, so this is just a speed bump. Hoping disney will call her back up soon after they open. We just have to have a little faith, trust, and pixie dust right now.

Was your daughter in the DCP too?
