Let's not forget the WHO warning it's possible covid-19 can be passed around via currency as it survives on surfaces... really leaves one thinking- where has this cash been? what did I touch with it?... cash is always dirty but now...

My thought about cash....
if you want some around, put it in a zip lock and let the virus die🤣. Keep in mind the bacteria will still be there.

Is everyone already pulling the plug on their April trips? I know I should...having a hard time doing it tho. Room booked via portal on points-easy cancel- flights on swa-easy cancel- tix thru portal...not sure about how to fix those yet.... I thought April 11 would be ok, but I don't think so anymore....at least as far as travel goes. It's a tough one,bc I have a sick feeling it'll all be open for business by then (maybe I'm nuts) and then I'm going to be struggling with FOMO bc I can see it (online, virtually) but I can't go bc I canceled...... I feel like I need to make a firm decision.

We have a trip planned from April 19-26. We have two 1BR units at SSR. These were RCI exchanges. At this time they are allowing cancellations 30 days out with no loss of exchange fees. I expect I will cancel, it’s not safe for Mom. Then if it gets to far out DD will be in the fields planting😢. But, if we all get to the other side of this healthy, this to shall pass.

And this is how we all lose our privileges (to leave our houses). Seriously it drives me nuts.

I love the line about our grandparents fighting in wars for us and all we're being asked to do is sit on our couches.
That’s why IL governor closed restaurants. All the people last weekend lined up getting into bars and restaurants for St Patrick’s day.

I’ve read on the DVC boards that they are allowing people to return the borrowed points to 2020...not sure if it’s a YMMV situation or not
I think they have recently stopped returning borrowed points.

I called today to try to have the points for my April WDW trip banked (I'm beyond the banking deadline) for June use year and return borrowed points to 2020. Was given an adamant no. I expressed my displeasure with Disney only cancelling until April given the CDC guidelines, etc. and she pretty much agreed with me and said she would have a higher up call me. We will see. I was hoping to not have to wait for them to cancel but I will.

In other news, day 5 of self imposed isolation (due to returning from UK) and day 1 of official shelter in place (CA) was long. It's going to be a difficult 3 weeks, but it will be worth it to flatten the curve. Of course it doesn't do any good until everyone plays along. Gotta save Nana!

Our governor just said on TV that he didn't see kids going back to school by summer so I think Disneyland, etc reopening anytime soon is a pipe dream.

People are crazy. And kind of stupid. Like all the people crowded in Magic Kingdom Sunday night for the fireworks. If one person there had it, now they all do.
I couldn't believe how many people were packed in to watch the fireworks. That just doesn't make any sense to me. I guess some people just don't care?

A lot of people in our county are starting to get super frustrated because we just had our first presumptive positive case and I read they've only tested 7 people. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I wouldn't doubt it. I called the cardiologist because I have an appointment tomorrow to just get results and I asked if they could do it over the phone. They called me today asking me screening questions to make sure I don't have the virus. Anyone could easily lie to them on the phone.

I have a cardiologist appointment next week for an annual EKG and blood work just for med refill. Something that could easily wait a few months. I am waiting to see if they call me. The office is in a hospital building.

Not cc related, but it seems like it’s ok for us to post this kind of stuff during these extraordinary days.

NYC mayor will make a decision within 48 hours regarding putting the city in lockdown, akin to San Francisco. I have a gut feeling this is going to happen, and that my state, which made an agreement just the other day with NY and NJ about gyms, theaters, and restaurants, will shortly follow suit. I’ve been staying in anyhow, with the exception of going to the track to walk everyday ( and the track is pretty much empty), but this will be difficult. Necessary, perhaps, but still difficult.
Would that force businesses to close that are still making employees come in?

I’m not sure. I think they became 2019 points when I borrowed them from 2020. So they’d go back to 2019. But if I cancel the May trip after March 31, it will be too late to bank them.

Somebody may have said this already. You can't bank the borrowed points. Banking and borrowing are final transactions. It won't matter when you cancel them. This is one area where DVC usually does not make exceptions. Sometimes they adjust banking deadlines for new members and I've seen them relax the 'holding' point rules before, but I've never heard of banking or borrowing being reversed.

Now someone will probably come along and disagree and say it's been done. Just not in my experience.

I know this is really difficult considering you are a newer member. The reality is DVC has never dealt with anything as grave or consequential as this in their history. They have a responsibility to all members to try to keep things on track, so they will do their best to help but there will already be a surplus of 'regular' points that will be banked into the next use year due to this catastrophe. That means that going forward, there will be more points then rooms available, especially in the studio category. And, for the time being, people will not be borrowing in to even up the numbers creating another issue. They also have the ability to suspend the banking and borrowing function and not allow you to use extra banked or borrowed points.

All that said, what they actually do for you is yet to be seen.
