Is anyone else nervous about all of the guns being bought?
Texas here. It's par for the course, but yes!

I was walking by my neighborhood brunch spot this morning as a group came out with one guy talking about the shotgun he was looking at buying. This was in San Francisco!
This is one of those times I wish I didn’t move to Florida...Texas here. It's par for the course, but yes!
Gonna be faster to drive to another statePA governor announced state liquor stores (the only game in town) would be closing tomorrow at 9 PM. You should have seen the line there just now! Looked to be an hour long. Dh wanted Scotch but we decided it wasn't worth the wait. I may check tomorrow morning. I can get beer and wine at the grocery store at least.
I'm not surprised Hilton Head DVC is closing. Seemed inevitable. Especially since my governor just canceled our election for tomorrow. Well, sort of. It's a mess. He doesn't have the power to stop it, so there was a lawsuit to stop and move it. Judge said no. So the governor is defying the action and the health department shutting it down. Which it isn't completely clear this is legal so it will be interesting to see what exactly happens in the morning. I'm glad I early voted. All the primary elections need to be moved to vote by mail. This is untenable.
I have an Aug UY. I'm not sure what to do. I'm definitely cancelling the 4 nights dvc that is 3/31-4/4. No brainer there and the points should go back to 2019 and I can bank them. But I have 4 nights booked in May. If some of those points are 2019 and not 2020, it will be too late to bank them, or is dvc making an exception in those cases? What's your use year? If you borrowed they will stay in the use year you borrowed them into. Just got another email today about this. I think this may be the problem a lot of DVC'ers are having. It's one of the reasons (among many) that I didn't cancel this trip as half or more of it were borrowed points and would expire Sep 30, and I would only want to do Hilton Head in summer, and it's mostly booked already for those dates.
I’m not supposed to think that way but lately my mind has been thinking “I only have about 5 weeks left so who cares?”. I had cake and ice cream last night with no regrets.

In another round of bad timing, Chase did launch the new United Club card today. 100k introductory bonus for 5k in spend, $525 AF not waived.
I'm seeing mixed message on if it's a new card or not. On the landing page it says "This product is available to you if you do not have any United Club card and have not received a new Cardmember bonus for any United Club card in the past 24 months."
Bold mine, but that would follow with the leaked terms DoC has listed.
But if you open the actual offer details it reads "this card" rather than "any card". So unclear if you have to wait 24 months after getting the Visa Signature version bonus like we thought.
"100,000 Bonus Miles: This product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months. "
Also interesting as I don't recall seeing this language on Chase cards before:
"If your account is not open for at least six months, United and Chase reserve the right to deduct the bonus miles from your MileagePlus Program account."
DoCs post to compare for yourselves:

Glad you are having a good trip. Are any of the restaurants open for delivery or takeout? The restaurants are one of my favorite parts of HHI.
Tent is an option.... or how about a VAN?

Hilton Head DVC is closing Friday? So sad, we were supposed to arrive 3/28. I knew it was a slim chance we could still go but![]()

I've been offered the American Express Blue Cash upgrade offer. I have until next week to pull the trigger on it - upgrading my wife's BCE to a BCP. The bonus is $150 cashback for spending $1k (but we'll have to pay the $95 AF). We could hit the whole MSR in the 6% grocery category so I'm thinking about doing it for an all-in return > 10%. I passed on this back in the fall because it hadn't been a year since I did it before. I think the time is right to do it this time.
