I'm finally caught up after being in WDW and then catching up at work!

It was our first stay at the Swan and we LOVED it! In fact DS (6) said he wants to stay there from now on and was actually disappointed when I said I have BCV booked for April! It was the first time my Gold status has been recognized and they gave us late checkout without us requesting it. It was also nice to be able to check into our room right away when we arrived around noon. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Uh oh, I was the OP on that question about the Amex biz AU’s. I already asked them to send me an AU card for DD16 for my HHBiz. Is it 18? Hoping she’ll be able to use it for her post volleyball game Taco Bell runs this fall and help me keep the spend on that card!
It's 13yo for Amex. You will be fine!

Glad you had a good stay there as well! I failed to mention that they gave us a late checkout as well. We ended up having to leave a bit earlier because of our flight being cancelled but they gave us til 2!

Just bit the bullet and took advantage of the Delta vaction packages. For 5 nights in October I booked 4 nonstop flights from BOS-MCO with 4 nights a HRH club level. Cost was a little over 3K, i cashed out 140K MR's (i had 6K lonely DL miles) and put a little over $100 on my CSR. I did have to call in. I already had one night on the Chase portal at Cabana bay so we will keep that for the last night. I will get back 150K UR's (cancel my HRH UR booking), and 40K SW miles plus a gc payment. It seemed worth it to me as my original plan was to the Schwab plat and cash out my MR's at 1.25cpp. Now I don't need to rush and get that card (plus added pop up fear). I hope they do a sale like this again!!!!!

I thought of you yesterday and your comment about people taking vacations right before school starts. We got back on Tuesday and the kids started school on Wednesday. Even though we had everything prepared before our trip, it still made things kind of hectic, so I guess you were right!!

We've been planning on going to Hawaii next August and coming back right before school starts, but yesterday I changed my mind and booked for July instead!

When I went to register green biz (from my plat) for DS it said must be 18 and wouldn't let me do it. Now he has an account that I did for PGR and Marriott so maybe thats how you got it to work?

So let's say we can't take our flight home from MCO, which I booked on United thru the UR portal. And we don't like any other options they can give us... am I most likely out the URs since it's weather related? It was only 14k for both of us so not the end of the world, I just feel better knowing what to expect. I have another flight home booked with SW, and I hadn't cancelled it yet so now I've decided to hold on to it... it's in the window for free changes, so I feel like that would be better/easier for rescheduling. And it was only 9700 RRs.

ah, well, I was just surprised and really joking more than anything that people needed to focus on buying back to school supplies rather than taking trips to DIsney lol! I've decided for next year, we will try wdw in June or July even. I think everyone trying to get in vacations right before school starts made it super busy. Way too busy for us!

Oof, in all my excitement about AA miles, I missed this was about biz cards! Sorry. I have only added AU'ers for personal with Amex.

UGH - more bad news on the hurricane for our florida friends and visitors - NOAA now predicting it could reach Cat 4.
We made the decision to cancel our trip as we headed to the airport. Bummed but we'll make lemonade out of the situation. Luv that SW makes it so easy to cancel. We were able to change our trip to a quick weekend in a couple of weeks (weather permitting lol).
We'll enjoy some college football this weekend instead! GO BLUE!

Hmmm, was poking around for semi-refundable hotels for Tues/Wed in case we are stuck... our Uni passes are good through Thurs and can book the Uni DT for 22k Hilton points... have to cancel before midnight Saturday night. May do that, feel like we should have an idea of what to expect then?

So does anyone here actually buy trip insurance (like through Allianz, etc) or do you just rely on your credit card protection? Our Med cruise/trip was really pricey. I used SO MANY different cards to make payments on things throughout the 18 rolling months beforehand it was kind of a mess if I would have had to make a claim. With the year I've had (sick husband, sick mother, crazy job) I vowed this would be the last trip I'd take without some real insurance. It would have sucked to flush about 10 grand down the toilet, you know?

So now I've got to buy some coverage for my Disney cruise - just wondering who others have used? And of course - does it code as travel (lol)?

I do. Just for the cruises (since they are PIF before we get there, and for med evac reasons) and the trips abroad, though. My WDW trips are always room-only and I'm ok losing one night of hotel deposit, but not thousands of dollars. We also have older parents and other concerns.

Deal is dead

SHOPDISNEY GLITCH

ELECTRONIC DISNEY GIFT CARDS ARE CODING 40% OFF YMMV. GO GO GO!!!

10% EBATES GOOD LUCK ALL

Ugh. I hate reading this stuff when it's too late for me to join in the fun. Getting our cruise at 40% off would have been really nice. #westcoastproblems

I think by us going a week (or two?) after you, it made a huge difference in the crowds. DH and I kept saying how certain areas just seemed empty compared to the first week in May. Most of the people we met were from the northeast because they hadn't gone back to school yet. I'm sorry it was so busy when you were there!

Dh is saying if we do leave we’re going to north Georgia. I think that might just be a mess trying to get all the way up there
Atlanta will be a hot mess this weekend so be warned if you'll be travelling through!! Dragon Con (80k people downtown), college foot ball kicks off (2 games) , black gay pride weekend, Braves playing the white socks almost every day, multiple other festivals as well.

Question for the experts - I'm trying to book our flights from BOS to Maui. Would you go with AA first class or Delta comfort +?

I have tried to book via VS and it's not working for me and I'm getting super confused, so I'll be booking with UR/MRs. I booked our return flights yesterday - United Polaris via URs at a rate less than booking with United, so I'm happy with that!

Oh man, DH is a ray of sunshine. This is why he drove me so crazy over Irma, when we were scheduled to get there a few days after anyways.

First he keeps saying there is a wide cone of uncertainty...
Then he asks if we have any waterproof bags that would fit his laptop. Not even a gallon size ziploc? No, that's slightly too small, but you could double bag it... I was like why, I don't see our stuff sitting in the rain so much, so wouldn't double bagging work.
In case we'd have to leave the hotel room without grabbing stuff and the windows get blown out
:scared:

Thank you! We are used to LD and the week after so it was just a huge shock to the system. I wish we could have waited another week or so too but college is too hard to pull kids from :(

I worked ride out crew at the Wilderness Lodge in 2004 for both Frances and Jeanne. I promise no hotel windows were blown out!
