I’m sure she’s fine :P But I would NOT tempt fate too much. You remember that I got my pastor’s wife shutdown so Chase can get crazy with this stuff.
I’d been keeping her at 3-4 mos between chase apps but this one was a total slip of the mind. Lesson learned -make sure you consult the spreadsheet before app’ing! Especially since we have 3 players.

I consult the spreadsheet for all moves in my life. Apparently even deodorant purchases 🤣 😂

Yes, we do have APs. And SW companion pass!

I haven't been since I was a child. My kids will be 4 and 6 - is that too young? Where have you stayed? It seems like it's too far from N. Conway and no place to stay on points!

Those would be perfect ages to visit! My 4yo loved it. We would normally stay at the North Conway Grand Hotel or Adventure Suites. It is about an hour away and very scenic if you take Rt 302. Story Land is great too and a lot closer to the main hotels in the Village.

So this just happened...booked a trip to WDW for October. Just needed flights and hotel. We were going to do ASMu but decided to spend a little more money and stay at Pop Century. Figured the rooms were renovated and hoping the gondola will be operational at that point. Haven't stayed in a value in quite sometime so hoping it doesn't feel too small.

I *think* I finally have my Serve card figured out. Had a successful deposit today with a VGC and had a successful transfer out of the account over the weekend. :flower1:

Was hoping to get the Arrival+ for P2 in July. Got just under $8k MSR yet on the 2 CIP2’s. Not sure how to make that work with another 5k added to that. We do have lots of Plastiq possible expenses coming up...tuition, insurance...Wish I could know how long that link will work. :genie:

I’d give the CIP serious consideration regardless of the $5k MSR. The CIP does not have foreign exchange fees, which is your big criteria; and is approved with a minimum $5k CL. If she/you can’t meet the MSR organically, there’s always Venmo for a relatively small 3% fee. If DD Venmo-ed only enough to hit the $5k MSR, that’s $4,854.37 with only $145.63 in fees for an 80k UR SUB, and I’m assuming 20k UR support points to you/DH. Call it reimbursement for tuition or moving fees to Norway.

ETA: I was typing on the go, so if I wasn’t clear, your DD could hypothetically use Venmo for the entire $5k MSR and it would cost at most $145.63 in fees (plus the unavoidable $95 AF). But since she’d be mixing organic spend into the MSR, her transactional costs should be much less, and she could use Venmo to make up any shortfall. The CIP also earns 3x UR on travel, redeems UR through the Chase travel portal at 1.25 cpp, and transfers UR to Chase’s partner airline and hotel programs, so it’s a great card if your DD wants to start traveling more.

Thanks so much. It seemed like the best option to me, too, but I was hoping there was some "perfect card" out there that would be better. I should have moved on this one before applying for the dumb xxxx one. I'll look into the venmo stuff. Is there info on dischurners on there?

@mmmears --it looks like finding a good general travel points MC/Visa with no FTF and a low MSR is a challenge. If your DD is a BOA customer, they have an entry level "travel" rewards card with $0 AF, 1.5x points on everything and 25K (aka $250) after $1000 spend and no FTF. It's a Visa so it could complement her Amex. It's not a big bang popular card but might not be a bad option for two years in Norway. I'll keep digging but that's the best I can come up with unless she's interested in a Chase United Explorer or one of the Citi AA cards (not your favorite airlines, IIRC!).

Thank you for looking for me. She doesn't have an account with BofA. And I think URs or MRs would be much better for her than AA miles since there is no definite plan to use the points and this would give her more options.

Completely agree with this and is what I was going to suggest as well. I’ll be using Venmo for part of dd’s CIP msr. I have another card with a 5k spend on the way as well!

Thanks for the info. I need to look up how to use Venmo although I hope we won't have to use it.

Can you pay a room only reservation before check-in? I went to go look and apply some gift cards but didn't see an option to pay online. I don't like calling Disney so if that is the only way, I will pay when I check-in.

Only by calling which is super annoying. If I can make the room only rez and pay for it online I should be able to continue paying it online. It's so silly.

Oh, it is lol!! I just applied for my dd when she was only 25 days past her last chase app 😬 I forgot about that app and didn’t look at her spreadsheet. It worked out ok this time but I wouldn’t recommend that strategy.

Lol I did my first two Chase cards 40 days apart. They've let me get 5 more since then, so I don't think they're too mad.

Tokyo Disney is also relatively inexpensive compared to its US counterparts, so hopefully no “Most Expensive Day Ever” t-shirts.
I hate those shirts. Why are you complaining about going somewhere that many families can only dream to go? Maybe don’t go then 🤷‍♂️

I love those shirts!! I think they're so funny. I could totally see my dad wearing one when we would go when I was a kid. I never would consider it to be mean-spirited, just kind of a funny dad joke. One of my friends went with his wife and child last year and he wore a shirt that said "My wife wanted to go to Disney, so we compromised and went to Disney." I thought it was hilarious.

Etsy please! Ill buy it!

The finished product is CRAZY expensive. I just bought the pattern from her and did it myself! Only $4 for the pattern.

Question for all you CC experts:

DD needs a card with no FTC for her upcoming year abroad. She currently has a CFU and is interested in getting more URs (although not at all opposed to MRs either). She will be earning money but honestly the stipend is pretty small, so no large salary to use for one of the fancier cards. She's already an AU on DH's plat, so if she really needs to make a big charge she can, but she wants to earn more points that she can use for travel so she'd prefer her own card.

Any thoughts?

ETA - Considering a CIP but the spend might be an issue for us since we just got a 5K MSR of our own and she can't make the CIP MSR on her own.

This is what I decided with DD. Initially I said I would help her do most of the $5000 spend. Then I am like, wait a minute, this is a really bad deal for me. lol So today I told her that she will have to "manufacture" some of her spend. She wasn't very happy to have the initial $95 fee and more fees, but I told her she could either pay me $1200 for the ticket I just bought or spend about $250 to reimburse me for the 80,000 points I spent. When I put it that way she decided it wasn't a bad deal after all. She will have it with her in Australia (assuming she is approved) so she won't even be manufacturing the whole $5000 in spend. Sure wish I could have sent it to her now, she is spending a lot in her last 2 weeks in Africa getting a lot of traveling in.

I hear you. If we make half the spend I think we will get half the points. She bought her own ticket to Norway but put it on DH's CSR (for the insurance) so we kind of owe her for that one. ;)

I want to get the spend done when we have the card in hand, and that doesn't give us the 3 months we'd normally have, and this just isn't a high-cost time of year for us. I know we will find a way to work it out.

I hope your DD has a great time in Australia - it's such a fun place to visit!

That is a bit pricey!! Great job on yours!

I just realized we will have a pretty large hotel bill in September when we visit. I suppose she can show up at the hotel and put some of that charge on her CIP (if she can even get one). I was planning to use the CSR for the 3x and the $300 travel expenses, but I guess we can put $300 on that one and the balance on another card. Sadly not staying on points because we need those points for another planned trip (and it would be a lot of points...)
