AA Miles for Disney Update:
This pricing is an utter mess. I made some calls this afternoon to try to figure it out and I have nothing good to report but here's the details:

First I'd like to point out that I don't see any value resorts showing up on any searches. I don't know why and I didn't ask on my calls because I felt like I can only get so much accurate info before the agent starts to give me bad info to get me off the phone.

Hotel Only (useaamiles.com)
  • Useaamiles.com had no idea that Disney was even back on their website.
  • I proceeded to speak with an agent about the Disney pricing being incorrect.
  • I gave them an example where they were charging 20% more for the same hotel as Disney's site.
  • They are looking into that but couldn't give me any answer today
Packages (aavacations.com)
  • AAVacations.com was aware that Disney hotels were back
  • The agent looked up a memo though and it's bad news: They renegotiated their contract with their vendor (whoever runs their search engine I guess) and they can't sell tickets or dining any more
  • I also informed them that something is weird with their pricing but it's harder for me to pinpoint since the rental car gets in their and muddies the water
At this point, if you had to book now your cheapest bet is to go through AAVacations.com and book a throwaway rental car (which is actually cheaper than a hotel only on the other site). You can try to make the car as inexpensive as possibly by saying you're picking it up at 11:30pm and dropping off at 12:30am. Hopefully useaamiles.com can get their pricing corrected and that will then become the best bet.

The loss of tickets and dining isn't the end of the world but I'm definitely bummed about it. The missing value resorts is not good for some folks I'm sure (I was planning on deluxe all the way so no issue for me at this point). The incorrect pricing is just terrible - hopefully that is fixed soon. At this point, you should figure that your points are worth between 0.85cpp and 0.93cpp (the reduction from 1cpp being the rental car cost).

Thanks for looking into all of this for us. You're making me feel better about getting kicked off the grAAvy train before I was even really able to get on. My plan was to just sign up for a couple AA cards between Chase and Amex apps and scrape together enough points for a free value stay. I figure if I'm under 5/24 I'm better off earning currencies that can at least be valued at 1 cpp. This game changes all the time!

The loss of dining is particularly a bummer because there is no way to add it later, even if you want to pay cash. I don't purchase a dining plan, but I was somewhat tempted to use AA miles for it.

@calypso726 or anyone else playing the HHonors Aspire game....

I believe I've convinced DH to go to Arizona over Christmas break. I had originally thought of using our free night certificates at the Arizona Biltmore Waldorf Astoria. However, the room rate with $100 per day credit comes to $716.08 for two nights booked directly through Waldorf Astoria. If I book it now and call them directly to make a $516.08 deposit, will that trigger the $100 off $500 Amex offer, $250 Aspire resort credit, and still give us $100 per night at check-in? It seems too good to be true, so I'm guessing it's a no.

To get the $100 credit for Waldorf/Conrad properties you have to book through this site https://www.hiltonhonorsaspirecard.com/ from what I've read on the Wiki

The $100 off $500 Amex offer should stack and as long as you aren't booking an advance purchase rate you should also get the $250 resort credit.

It really was such a great deal on AA miles. I’m struggling to get over that one personally.

Churning Marketplace Update:
They now have posted a listing of banned users:
https://www.reddit.com/r/churningma..._transparency_of_trades_list_of_banned_users/

Every person who is banned was caught selling generated mailer codes. Generated Biz Mailer codes aren't inherently wrong IMO. Selling them could be considered pretty low though considering that people can generate them for free. However, since biz mailers are now single use, the rule of thumb on a generated code (if you happen to come into one) is just use it after the original expiration date (since they work for an additional 2 months). This is because once you use that code, it wouldn't be available to the original intended recipient (but if you're after the exp. date then you're probably fine).

This probably doesn't matter to most folks here but I figured I'd share to keep our group abreast of what's going on in the Citi Biz Mailer marketplace. $40 continues to be the going rate although these may become more scarce if many of the people who were selling them were doing it with generated codes.
So I should keep this list of people I could private message if legitimate mailers ever dry up.

Is there a way to tell on Amex's site how much of an offer you've used? I've found all the credits I've gotten back but I don't remember when the Staples offer started and I want to make sure I don't go over the $50 of the offer.

I also just check for the credits. The Staples Amex Offer started on 1/1 or 1/2/19.

Until December I didn't even realize that AA Miles could be used for Disney resorts so I didn't care about the grAAvy train
Probably a dumb question but how do you use your AA miles for Disney resorts? I’m not seeing any when I look...

Well the jets won but just barely. Dh was rooting for the black hawks. The jets had a goal removed after a review. Then the black hawks tied it and it went into over time and the jets won it there! It was a nail biting game. Now we’re headed an hour towards home and staying at our hotel that was booked with chase points.

We’re finishing the night at steak and shake. It’s the only thing open plus it’s one of my favorite restaurants (3x on the CSR!)

Side note: the area the United center is in is probably the scariest area I’ve ever driven through in my life. There wasn’t one single thing not graffitied. Even the trash cans were graffitied

Thank you! I had some credits from last August and knew they couldn't be a part of it but knew this was also a long offer so I thought I'd better double check.

Just so you’re aware, the AA biz dummy offer is a great idea for everybody. It’s a biz card so doesn’t hurt 5/24. You can sell the AA gift card for ~$160 cash and you can just redeem the 62k AA miles (assuming the 20k match) for ~$250 in Disney gift cards if you don’t do the hotels. That means it’s all-in a $410 offer for $2k MSR. So I’d strongly recommend that to anybody looking to slow their roll with Chase with a biz card.

(I would be more hesitant to recommend the Barclays biz card and/or subsequent Citi AA BIZ card via mailer with a gift card redemption strategy for what it’s worth).

EDIT: I just realized you said you got kicked off before you started. Oops - wasn’t trying to throw salt in the wound LOL! What happened? I either missed that or I just can’t remember...

Lol this thread moves fast and it happened almost a month ago now...I was insta-denied for the biz card (not the dummy offer though, maybe I'll try that at some point!), probably due to the number of recent inquiries - I had just finished the MDD and was feeling a little tooo confident. It worked out because DH got his 100k Plat offer the next day, so we've been working on that MSR. Maybe we'll look at AA again after we're out of mortgage-qualifying-purgatory!

I want to try to churn the Arrival+. I closed mine last week. I know common knowledge is 6 months between closing and trying again, but I'm curious if that's a rule or just a safe amount of time. There's a single DP in the comments in DoC of someone who only waited 8 days. Anyone can say anything online, but if that's true it would seem as long as you can get through Barclays approval you can churn them much faster.

I know I'm likely to be denied because of my inquiries and new accounts - I'm way over 6/24 - but they approved me for the previously closed Arrival+ at 16/24 if I remember correctly. I've taken advantage of spend bonuses on the Wyndham card every time they come around (about once every 3-4 months), and our monthly wireless charge is recurring on my Uber card, so all things considered I'm in as good of a position as I can be.

Looks like they were busy approving CIPs overnight! DH approved for his first one. I was trying to be good and not call the second I woke up and instead checked my email. Had 3 emails from Mint at 3 am that my accounts had changed. At first I thought someone was trying to change my password or something then realized that probably meant had a new account added. Not sure why they had to tell me 3 times,,,
