Hey now, someone of us are happy the on-site Universal resorts are available and certainly want that option to remain available.

Are we sure this is a good idea?!! ...I don't want to lose it too :sad1:
Hmm :scratchin:scratchin I can’t imagine they’d make a change over a tweet. Plus those Universal resorts are managed by Loews right? I’d assume it’s safe lol

Sometimes I think they are looking for people who are not too risky who will carry a balance and therefore pay interest.

That's interesting. We never have a credit card balance. Pay the balance off every time we get the bill.

I got an email today that I could register for A-List status from SW through May 31, 2019. I happen to have two SW flights coming up in April, so this will be very nice to be guaranteed A boarding (or boarding right after the A group) and also to get the 25% points earning bonus on those flights (since I used travel funds/cash to book). It was under Promotions in my account if anyone wants to check whether they were targeted.
I’m gonna have to go check if Dh got this on his sw card

I have never seen this topic addressed on this thread, so here goes. We obviously have some VERY knowledgeable people here that have a wealth of talent about credit card churning/points. Have any of you considered consulting folks as a side gig? I would say that a very low percentage of the population is aware of what we do, and probably less than 1% have any working knowledge of how this even works. I have helped some friends get started and it takes time, energy, and good communication skills to bring someone up to speed. So what about consulting people as a side venture (solves the problem for those that say they don't have a "business" to boot!)? It would be sort of like a financial advisor that works with individuals, but instead of financial products you are only selling your expertise and successful strategies. Services could range from basics all the way up to actually offering and implementing a complete game plan.

When people see the thousands of dollars to be saved and the dream trips that they can take, I believe folks would pay for the service. After all, it has taken most of us years of daily research to get to where we are today. If you could shoulder all of that work for somebody and provide them with similar results, I believe a number of people would pay for that work and expertise.I realize there are websites that do this, but I am talking about a personal, individualized service.

What say the I love credit cards so much family? :)
It can absolutely be a side gig in consulting. But honestly, there are bloggers galore helping you get the best bang for your buck in this area making money off your referral clicks- that's free to a user so it's hard to compete with that. Personalizing it is different but it's hard to determine the right card for someone. Also, when do you collect payment? After you've helped them find the right card is too late, but how do you convince them to part with their money before a match/plan is made? It also involves a level of personal detail that you will now be in possession of so how do you store that/use it responsibly? What happens when they find out a better offer came out later? What if they don't like the card you helped them pick out? Fwiw I wouldn't go applying for bank accounts or credit cards for this business considering that explanation of business is gonna be super awkward but I would certainly report it to Uncle Sam as a business if I crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's and made money at it. I also wouldn't tell people you are in the financial services category because you're a consultant, not a banker. You aren't providing actual financial services (good thing, because labeling yourself as being in financial services will raise multiple red flags with every single thing you try to do because financial services have many regulations related to them).

Why many of us keep it as a hobby is I think we want to keep it light at the end of the day. I've had this convo with myself a lot deciding how I was going to handle my influx of 1099s (which is never going to happen again, there were extenuating circumstances last year) from referrals but at the end of the day it's just a hobby for me. I don't advertise, I don't charge anyone, I don't treat it like a business. Why I don't want to make it an actual business:
1) I'd have to charge friends/family/strangers and when YMMV came into play I would feel horrible. Amex bonus didn't come through- my fault and they paid me for that mess
2) They're great people- but horrible with finances. They are now in debt and blame you because they went into debt meeting that minimum spending requirement! You may think "that's not fair! you warned them!" and you would be right but we see time after time churners being blamed for putting someone in debt. If they had paid you on top of that? What a mess.
3) This is my escape- my hobby. It's my get away when work is hard and life is hard but it's also something I can set down in a heartbeat if I need to. No obligations beyond paying my credit bills.

Now that you've had a taste of Twitter Power there is no going back! Have you gotten an airline to fix something via DM yet? That is a sweet rush of accomplishment! (which is ridiculous because they only ever have to fix what they broke but still :) )
No airline issues yet. But I am thinking about trying another tweet about my missing referral points

Unfortunately beyond the occasional referral, I’m not sure there’s enough income to actually charge a fee. If I helped somebody hatch a great year 1 plan with about 5-6 cards from Chase maybe they’d get $3k-$5k in Rewards. I could probably generate $400-$600 in referral value there. I think @gottalovepluto summed a lot of my thoughts up well, but in general, I would struggle to ask for any more than a referral from somebody I was helping.

This has also come up on r/churning before and most people are skeptical of anybody who says they’re doing this (as in they probably don’t have their “customer’s” best interests in mind in many cases).

Dh has a sw business card and all three of his cards are on the same account (cip, CSR, and sw biz). I think he sm’d chase and they were able to combine all three

Congratulations!!party::bounce:Yes, you will have to set up a different login for the business accounts. I called in to do it, not sure if it can be done by SM. If you do combine them it will be a new login under your new business login, but will include personal cards too. Some just leave it separate, but I like to have them all in one place. I know there was a reason some keep it separate, possibly something with Chase Pay.

I called and they helped me combine them all into one online sign in.

You can start to set it up online but unless they fixed the glitch you 'll have to call in to get a security code to finish setup. If you want to combine it with your existing personal account you can have them do that then as well. They can merge your personal into the business but not the other way, so still need to create a business account.

But just the same link on the sign in page for " enroll now" and then pick the business option.

Thanks, all :-) I tried to do it online but, as @miztressuz said, I had to call to get the security code. I'm going to keep the business and personal log-ins separate for right now.

Mine was over a stupid dime bag (I didn't even know what that was and still don't know what type of drug was in it) gone bad. So "hacker" gave a couple a ride in the wrong part of Baltimore city, asked them where he could score some. A gentleman/punk sold him the dime bag and then decided he wanted the bag back without returning the funds. Pulled out a gun and shot it in the middle of a busy street. Cops were in the area and the punk ran and dropped the "gun." No eye witnesses, the hacker's story was completely laughable, no fingerprints presented. The punk was charged with the gun violation and there were no drug charges. Once we had to deliberate I was the lone hold out since I didn't understand why there were no eye witnesses and some of the jurors were more city savvy and tried to explain to me that you just don't come forward. The defense attorney polled the duty to make sure we are agreed to the guilty verdict. I understand that very rarely occurs.

Polling the jury is very common, at least where I am. It’s rare I see a jury where it isn’t polled. I wish we had fingerprints on more stuff! Unfortunately, it’s not like what you see on CSI haha. If you put your fingers on a window, we can probably get your prints. But on anything with any texture to it- game over.

applied for cip yesterday and approval today. yea! i'm so missing out on all the AA stuff and wishing i could do it. but going to stick with the plan. unless the plan fails, and then i might hop on the AA wagon.

Congrats party:on the CIP....I’m sticking to my plan too and not hopping on the train...but it is hard the FOMO is real

Somewhat related note...They also have a BookAAcruises.com site...Don't get excited about it though. You CANNOT use AA miles to book a cruise from what I can see. I actually called that number earlier today to see if that was an option. Aside from hotels and cars (and the terrible gift card option) does anybody have any other uses for AA Miles besides flying? I know it seems odd but AA Miles are pretty easy to earn with multiple biz cards available and some of us just don't need them to fly.
So what DO you do on bookaacruises dot com?
