haha, it came up as the first result for me.

also, if ur buying amazon gift cards and holding on to them... a good article to read.
http://milesperday.com/2019/02/psa-dont-buy-the-old-amazon-gift-card-designs-at-safeway-kroger-or-any-store/

This is interesting, one because it's going on not that far from me, though I'm sure elsewhere as well. But also because the one's I buy look similar but are white and are always preloaded. They also have a section on the back that always has to be peeled off to access the barcode. Now I'm curious if that's the same or not. I wish she had a picture of the back. Now the starbucks cards worry me a bit more. My Fred Meyer (Kroger) has a starbucks in it but the receipt is for Fred's. I wonder if I should start buying my cards from them instead of the big rack in the grocery area. I would think they'd still code as 4x fuel points.

What happens when a company goes out of business and you have a credit card with them? I have a Gymboree Visa that I haven't used in years. Just curious. :) TIA!

Typically, your retail store card will either be closed by the issuer, product changed by the issuer to a new card, or the accounts sold to another issuer.

For example, Toys R Us's credit card was issued by Synchrony Bank, and when TRU went through its bankruptcy, Synchrony PC'ed TRU cards to their 2% cash back Mastercard. See https://www.doctorofcredit.com/toys-r-us-credit-card-to-become-2-synchrony-mastercard/

There are no "support" links available for these cards yet, although the bloggers are already peddling their affiliate links. (The above are public links, not referrals or affiliates.) The 100k bonus offers end 4/24/19, so you have some time. If you're thinking about applying for the Bonvoy Biz it's best to get your application in before 3/28/19 to avoid a first year AF and pay a lower $95 AF in the second year to get the 35k FN certificate (presumably, the AF will then go up to $125 in the third year).

If you'd rather wait on Chase's Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card, which will have its own 100k bonus offer, that comes out 2/28/18.

To be clear, the business card WOULD count against my 5/24, correct? (I'm at 4/24 and saving for SW someday)? And if my husband is already 7/24, and just got a Hilton Ascend AMEX last month, could he apply for this in the next month? We close on another foreclosure so remodel $$$$ here we come. :/

So all those new Bonvoy cards, are we able to get those if we had an SPG Biz in the last 30-90 days and got a bonus 12 months ago?

If you don't have any of the Chase Marriott cards or bonuses that disqualify you, the SPG Biz shouldn't affect your eligibility for a bonus on the Bonvoy Brilliant (formerly SPG Lux). But you can't get another bonus on the the Bonvoy Biz because it's considered the same product as (just a rebranding of) the SPG Biz.

The Amex Bonvoy Biz will NOT count against Chase's 5/24 rule.

DH could apply for the Bonvoy Biz if he doesn't have any of the disqualifying cards or bonuses listed, and if he has no other Amex credit card applications in addition to the Hilton Ascend in the past 90 days. (Amex will approve only 2 Amex credit card applications in a rolling 90 days period.)

Confession: I'm 35 yrs old and I've never used a taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc. I've always just had a rental car or took public transit. However, we're going to New Orleans before our cruise Mar 15-17th (St Patrick's Day) so its going to be VERY busy. Staying at Holiday Inn Gretna which is across the river. They do have a shuttle for $5/person BUT with 6 people (17 total in our party), I'm thinking Uber may be the way to go and just meet up. I recall seeing all kinds of credits/bonuses for Uber or Lyft but at that time I didn't need them. Now they'd be handy.....anyone recall where they've seen the best bonuses/sign ups?

If you have an amex card they have a promo code for first time Uber users. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/campaigns/uber/index.html

You can also estimate the cost of the Uber ride on the website to compare it to the shuttle. Also good to check out the options there for a party of that size.

Ugh I am so unnecessarily anxious. Me and DD10 leave for Anchorage tonight (leaving from PDX with a layover in SEA because she wanted to visit the lounges ) I tried booking a Basic Economy thru Delta because it's not a huge deal if we are in middle seats and not right next to each other--plus I was under the impression I could select an available seat at 24 hours when I checked in. Nope! Well kind of. My flight from PDX-SEA we were given seats together and I have the option to pidifferent seats. The SEA-ANC however is grayed out at says we get our assignments at the gate. But because I simply MUST find something trivial to stress about before a flight I guess I will keep refreshing the standby page in the Delta app until I see an assignment.

I need it to be 4PM so we can leave! :bored:

EDIT: Perfect timing @Albort !!! I shall stop in today! My plan is to hit Capers & Capers Cafe in PDX followed by Cafe Flora now. It will be great cause we will be going right past.

Edit 2: Oops that was @Lain Haha!

Fingers crossed these guys stick around until Sep and don't disappear in a few days like the last few restaurants. We have a stopover in SEA on the way back from the cruise and I wouldn't mind a cheap dinner before catching the red-eye home. Actually, you've been able to visit twice in a day most place so far, yes? That'd be good for breakfast when we arrive and then dinner before we depart (if they don't put outbound language in). I'm not sure if we'll both have PP at that point, otherwise we'd just use one in the morning and then the other's in the evening. :)

There is a DP of somebody getting 8 Chase Business cards in the past 13 months. 5 were with SSN and 3 with EIN. They alternated spacing out applications by 1 month and 2 months.

https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/aq5gpx/discussion_thread_february_13_2019/egeg4qm/

Cards include:
2 CIPs, 2 CICs, 2 CIUs, Marriott and United
(the 2nd of each Ink card was with an EIN).

At any rate, for those worried about trying for that 3rd or 4th Chase biz card...this person wasn't shutdown so uhhhh maybe those concerns are much less real now :) (they do include that is a legit business with 100k in revenue and in business for 10+ years - but I honestly don't think Chase treats that a whole lot differently than a $5k biz that's been around for 3 years, etc.)

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Bonvoy, Starwood Purple.

P.S. My SPG cards are still SPG and Purple in Apple Pay -- for now.

P.P.S. I'm going to keep using my purple cards until they expire. My newly pressed SPG Lux replacement came in yesterday.
I just couldn't get into the purple.

I don't have PP any more since I downgraded to CSP. It's only slightly more convenient than the lounge in A. And looking at the menu there's absolutely nothing there I would eat except for the toast and jam or potatoes at breakfast without saying I want all but the eggs and biscuit, ha! Once Alaska dropped out of PP there just isn't anything that's convenient to their gates but I'd sooner take the time to trek to the lounge to get juice and/or water I can take with me along with stuff I'd actually eat.

i predict 2 months before its removed... lol.

It might last simply because it's vegetarian/vegan unless they get a lot of people going solely for alcohol which would probably be the only thing I'd do. They don't have hot chocolate or soft drinks. This place wasn't even on my radar.

For the Staples (Blackhawk) MGC, what the heck is the PIN? I tried the last 4 digits of the card but that wouldn’t work.

was it shipped to you?
I thought it was the last four digits of the account number. I used mine a few weeks ago (didn't understand why people said they were hard to activate) but I've forgotten already where I grabbed the pin from. The visa pins are mailed from Blackhawk but I don't think the MC ones were.
