I just updated my Pei app and I'm pretty sure the code I just put in the Reddit group will work now. I'm one of those tech people too busy caring clients to take care of my own things lol

I think I'll spend the rest of the day updating the apps on my phone, while uploading files dropbox and setting up my new Mac. Today shall be about me.
Worked!

Now, PNC peeps, are we sure that deposits that code ACH Web Payment don't count? I'm working DH's now. I only found one dp from a year ago that NFCU counted, but it coded Web Payment.

So, I thought I'd transfer his money to my Chase acct and then transfer it back. Yeah, didn't think that one through, that didn't work since his name isn't on my Chase acct. He only has NFCU as a bank acct. So, I'm thinking of transfering his money back to NFCU, then to my NFCU, then I'll put it in my Paypal acct and send to his Paypal via friends & family, then move it PNC. That should work, right?

And once that's done I need to do my daughter's.

Not overly impressed with Pei at the moment. Totally glad there's a lot of places to use it but I'd rather enter the cards I want to use than to log in to each bank so it can suck the cards from there. Plus it wants me to disable my extra security on BofA to get in, umm no not going to do it even if it is just for a few minutes. It shows Target as an option but I can't figure out if any of them work for the debit card. I don't have a different login for it and it doesn't seem to work with any of them. I did a little googling and didn't find anything. If anyone figures it out please let me know because it'd be nice to combine them.

How to book SW before receiving the companion pass?

I will get the CP in April? (not sure when the closing date for the statement will be bc I haven't yet received the biz card lol). Do I book both dh and I now using my RR points which means I'd have to transfer UR to SW to have enough? Do I book us each using our own RR points? Do I book one person w cash and one with points? I'd be booking each leg separately as the return date won't be available until March 14.

I always have a reservation for every person (even when waiting on a CP to come through or a CP change). I know it's largely paranoia but a flight could sell out at any time (although it is so unlikely). I also have the luxury of having enough points to just book placeholder reservations to save my spot. If I didn't have the points, it wouldn't work because as @palhockeymomof2 said - a cash reservation can't be converted to a CP ticket and so you'd just be out money that way.

I did it the same way as SouthFayetteFan outlines above. I didn't want to risk waiting for the CP in case the flights I needed were sold out. So I booked one-way points reservations for my DD (who is now DH's SW Companion). When the CP hit DH's account this morning, I double checked that tickets were still available on each flight before cancelling DD's reservations and adding her as DH's companion. I did them one at a time out of an abundance of caution. The points went back into the accounts immediately (one I had booked with DD's points and the other I had booked with DH's points) and the $5.60 that I had paid via gift card when making DD's original reservations were immediately available for use as travel funds to pay the new $5.60 associated with the CP ressies. I agree with others that it might not make the same sense to do this if you have to pay cash for the would-be companion's ressie, since those will turn into travel funds that would have to be used by that person only within a year of the original reservation date. I'm also not sure if I would transfer URs to SW to be able to make points bookings, but I don't ever tend to transfer my UR to SW, so maybe that's no big deal for you if that is your usual UR redemption.

The card issuer will sometimes product change it into one of their own cards. Can check out what Toys R Us did recently, Synchrony converted the cards to a 2% cashback card I think (something like that). Sometimes it just closes but I'd think the card issuer is more inclined to keep existing customers and would want to offer you something to stay.

A travel card would work. earn u 3x, sometimes 5x with the freedom card. The Amex Plat also gives u $15 a month. You can also add your visa cards and earn some bonus uber $ by visiting their partners.

Most store cards are usually backed by a credit card company. for example, Sears cards are back by Citi. a quick google shows Gymboree Visa is backed by US Bank.
Its most likely US bank will convert them to a US bank generic card... but ive seen sometimes, the banks just close them out. Its up to US Bank now.

I see you got a number of replies in addition to those I quoted above, but just chiming in to say that I had a Zappo's cc issued by Chase that was discontinued, and Chase converted it to a CFU. That was an awesome trade and came at a time when I didn't have a 5/24 slot for the CFU so it was a total win!

I haven't seen anyone post on this, but DD had a Starbucks offer on her AU Plat today. 15% off up to $5. I did not have it on my Plat, and DS did not have it on his AU Plat. Usually I find the same offers on all 3, and DH usually gets the same on his Biz Green. Either the offer went quickly, or maybe it will show up on some of the other cards in the coming days....

I recently pc'd to the cash rewards card from an old americard that I never used. It seems pretty sweet especially if you have preferred rewards. I've read that BoA likes to have a "relationship" with you, so sometimes people open bank accounts and then apply for cc's. They denied me for the merrill card back when that was a thing even though I did have the americard. I opened a checking account, waited a while, applied for the premium rewards card, and was approved. They can be a pain to deal with though and the wait times when you call are usually long.

I missed this yesterday. I have some experience with BoA, as I've held the Amtrak card since they took over the account, and I've had a few new accounts with them since.

BoA has cracked down significantly over the past 6 months to a year or so. They have a specific rule to their own cards, often referenced as 2/3/4 - no more than 2 cards every 30 days, no more than 3 cards every 12 months, and no more than 4 cards every 24 months. Since this is your first BoA card, clearly you're not in violation of those rules.

It's hard to say for sure what BoA's cutoff is, but I know I've been shot down in recon for having 10 inquiries over the past 12 months. I don't know if that's for sure a hard rule, or if I just have so many inquiries it was easier to round. The fact that your application went pending to me is good news. All of my denials with BoA have been auto-denials, rather than a pending application that was later denied. You can call recon if you want, or just wait it out. It's possible they need some kind of verification.

One thing BoA has started doing is requesting a deposit account to approve you for a credit card. The most common DP I've seen is a request to open a $1500 CD, and they will approve you for a card. It's up to you if this is worth it or not. If it comes to that, you could try offering opening a checking account instead, if you'd be more comfortable with checking over a CD (there's almost always at least a $100 checking bonus with BoA). Hopefully, that won't happen to you.

How many cards do you have across all issuers in the last 6/12/24 months? Again, it's hard to know for sure what BoA's hard cutoff is, but there's definitely a number that's too many for them to approve you at all.

When I got a denial letter for one of their cards, one of the two reasons was quote "limited deposits and/or investment balances with us". You may see some others mention banking relationship. They also didn't like too many newer accounts. I'm unaware if they have any rule like Chase's 5/24 though, but they must have something.
Thank you all for the information! I applied for the card because I got the mailer saying I was “preselected” for the card. I’ll laugh if I don’t get approved because I don’t have a relationship with them. If that's the case, they shouldn’t have sent me the mailer lol.

According to Credit Journey here are my card amounts opened in the last 24/12/6 months:
24 months - 4
12 months - 3
6 months - 2

It also says I have 1 inquiry in the last 2 years.

I might just be impatient. Instant decisions are just so much easier to deal with lol.

Credit Journey does not give an accurate count of cards opened in the past 24 months. According to CJ, I'm under 5/24. I know I'm not. Credit Karma gives much more accurate information.

How do you interpret this? Specifically in relation to authorized user accounts? I asked exactly that and they simply C&P'd the terms back to me that I already read. I'm using this benefit once, but if my big kids can also use it that'd be awesome (they are each AUs).

"Visa Signature Flagship Rewards cardholders are entitled to one statement credit per eligible Visa Signature Flagship Rewards Credit Card number every 4 years per Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® program."

Are their AU card numbers the same as yours ? ...It says card card number..so if they all have the same number as you..I’d interpret it as 1 credit every 4 years

I wasn't thrilled with the way cards were added, but I went ahead with it.

Target is cool if you have the debit redcard. When I use my redcard I get double points. I don't know if it's the same for CC version, but it's always double listed in transactions, once for the card and once for my bank account. I don't think I did anything extra as far as the card goes when adding it. I think it just pulled it when I added that bank it's linked to.

Thanks for the heads up! I’m actually fairly confident in my numbers though. I don’t keep track of specific dates opened, but I do know the accounts I’ve opened and they’re all accounted for on CJ. I was wondering about the accuracy of the inquiries more than anything. I’ll keep that in mind for future though!

All different. I just can not imagine getting 4 GE benefits for $49 AF.

I'm doing 4 GEs very soon covered by 2 CSRs, IHG Premier and NFCU Flagship. If this truly covers more than one, then the whole family is covered, including future DIL.

(Holy moly, it just hit me, I'm going to be a mother-in-law! Eek! I'm excited and can't wait! This just happened 2 days ago, was supposed to happen during our last Disney trip, but didn't.)

Happy news first, my Companion Pass posted today! Woohoo!!

It is time to get a new card because we aren't working on MS and we have some medical bills coming up.

I'm leaning toward getting it for DH. Since I just did the two SW cards in December and January.

DH currently has-
Sapphire 4/16
SPG Biz 4/18
CIP 5/18
Venture 7/18
Barclay 10/18

So I think he is 2/24 for Chase since two are Business cards.

I'm planning to PC his Sapphire to a Freedom next month.

So for his new card, what would be best? I'm thinking about the CIC because I'd like to add to our UR points.

I'm totally open to suggestions though if there is a good option I'm missing!

I can’t either...but what have you got to lose by trying, if you need the GE anyway.

Congrats on the Engagement !!

What about the CIU...same bonus and MSR...but it would earn 1.5x on your medical bills

I would totally go for a CIC or CIU. @palhockeymomof2 makes a good point that the CIU's 1.5x UR on everything is a better fit for medical bills.

Or self-refer from the CIP for CIP #2, if you expect your medical bills to cost $5k or substantially that.

Did you link it by target or by your bank debit card? I can't get it to work with any of the target options and I didn't want to link my debit since I never use it to buy stuff. My target debit is the only non cc I use to buy stuff.

If building URs are a goal then CIC and CIU are natural targets for your husband. The only other recommendation I might make would be if there was a card you had that you could refer him to.
