Ok, since I'm just hanging in the room with the sick kids today and browsing the boards I have another question for you all. I'm already considering a "2019 Disney do over". DH is not onboard.....yet. We have 10 day non hopper tickets now. If we were to come for 4-5 days this fall would you all update to annual passes now? I mean, we are working towards MSR on CIP anyways....

We are the wrong group to ask about APs! I always justify buying APs because we are going twice and then we end up going 6 or 7 times. I would just run the numbers and see what makes sense. If you purchase DVC, then you can get the Gold Pass (with blackout dates) for around $600 plus tax and the platinum pass for around $750 plus tax.

Here is a note from the Founder of Juicy Miles:

We give our staff the option to provide a profile picture or remain anonymous. For the vast majority of our team, this is a side gig and many choose to stay anonymous and prefer their employers remain unaware of the time they devote to award booking. In fact, I was just Adam and had no picture until about a year ago when I left my regular job to run JM and Point Me full time. That same courtesy is given to the entire team, if they want to share they are welcome to, otherwise they can simply provide a bio or just their name, it’s completely up to them. If they choose not to share, they can select a photo to represent them. I can personally relate to our team members as I had one employer who restricted me from contributing to either site while I was employed and another who tolerated but did not want clients seeing my full name, bio or picture on the web. My BoardingArea profile is actually still blank - I finally provided approval to BA to share my JM photo late last week. That said, we want to be as genuine as possible with our clients and so we’re making a change. Team members who do not wish to share will have their pictures replaced with a stylized avatar.

That kind of makes sense. As a web developer, I was going to say the person that built the site probably put those photos in place while waiting for the real photos. That's what we do. Intention being to replace when the actual photos are ready.

Congrats party: and Welcome Home
party:Congrats and welcome home! It is such a relief to pass ROFR. Hope the rest of your process is quick and painless. It is so much fun to save on GCs for dues using this hobby.

Congratulations!!!! Welcome home from another AKV owner :-)
Thanks so much! My DD is going to be thrilled, she keeps asking when we can go again, and she just loves animals so I can't wait for her to stay Savannah View. Hopefully all goes well from here and we can use the 2018 points I have coming for a fall trip!

Somebody who knows about MPX...tell me what this comment on r/churning means:

DP: MPX now has Disney @ 3x
Shop disney is 1x
Should be on DoC soon.

Is this something that we should be excited about???

I believe that's good for anyone accumulating United miles - they would get 3 UA miles per $1 spend on a Disney gift card, and an extra 25% if they hold a UA credit card.

ETA: my app is only showing a $25 egc available for purchase, not a higher denomination. Also, anyone holding a CIC buying Disney gcs at OD/OM/Staples will do better since you could transfer the 5UR/$1 over to UA as needed.

Yep. There's two options - you can earn via Disney gift card purchases or through buying stuff at Shop Disney. The ShopDisney is only paying out 1 mile per buck spent.

Mine gift card purchase is locked at $25 too which is odd. There are usually options for $25,$50, $100, etc. I think you can email these gift cards to people after purchased but I've never done that in app before.

Question about AmEx and credit limits: can I reduce my CL by chat?

I am thinking about rattling the AmEx cage again in a few weeks with a BBP application, while I seem to still be on AmEx's good list. I got the Aspire in December with an insanely high CL. Prior to that, my recent AmEx applications were for charge cards. I do also have two older credit cards (no-fee Hilton personal and Delta Gold personal), but they have reasonable CLs.

Also, I should be good with a fourth credit card, correct? Is four the limit?

Yes you can reduce by chat, I have done it recently.

Congrats! I bought at AK too. We are neighbors! Hopefully @AmyAnne passes so she can be our neighbor too.

@Haley R I'm sorry about your car. Driving on snow/ice is just about my top phobia (save for FALLING on said ice) and I just don't do it anymore. I make DH drop me at work if the weather is bad. I go in way early and stay late. It started snowing here yesterday and there were cars in ditches all over the place.

I broke down and went to minute clinic this afternoon. Another double ear infection. I got two kinds of medicine and this should help my laryngitis too - the gunk is stuck on my vocal chords apparently. This has been such a crappy winter. Everyone I know has been sick for weeks it seems like and I keep getting this ear thing over and over.

37 days until spring!!!! :flower1:

Oh dear, terrifying!!! Glad you are most ok!! Yeah, more tomorrow, and again Thurs/Friday?!?!? I can't take anymore! My dogs have never seen this much snow, it's already up to the 30 pounders chest, tomorrow she may be in trouble. The bigger doodle loves it and wants to live in the yard, but if we really get another 6-10 by the end of the week, I am not sure even he will be able to get through the yard.
Our road is almost undrivable because the plows don’t even try. The snowflakes right now are huge and sticking fast

Lol. I just replied:
Disney Gift Card has been on MPX for a few weeks now. While this is a nice addition, the eGC is limited to fixed $25 denominations and earns only 3 United miles/$1, plus a 25% bonus if you have a United Visa linked to MPX. Unless Disney triggers some pass through bonus category on Chase Visa cards that I don’t know about. (My guess is Disney will pass through as Entertainment or Retail.) Yes, you can stack the MPX miles with MileagePlus Shopping, but that’s good only for merchandise.

One could do better if they had a CIC and bought Disney GCs from office supply stores like Staples/OD/OM for 5x UR, or a CF to buy Disney GCs from drug stores or grocery stores when those are the 5x UR categories (usually sometime during the year). Then there’s also buying Disney GCs with Amex and Chase Offers, and stacking opportunities with cash back apps and portals.

That's terrible but glad you are ok and it sounds like the car can be salvaged. A lot worse could have happened, so grateful it didn't!

Hubby was just wishing for snow since, knock wood, we've missed the brunt of every storm but he doesn't feel it being cold outside it worth it without snow. I'll use your post to remind him why no snow is just fine with me. (Although I'd be happy with a warmer climate and just visit snow occasionally. I don't know how you all out there deal with that cold. I'm as cold as I care ever to be.)
I told Dh we need to move ASAP. I grew up in the south and moved here in junior high. I would never choose to live here. He can’t leave his work until December but we’ve already talked about what our options might be.

Ugh got to the last page and it lost my quote. Sorry not going back to find it as this day has moved fast through the pages.
@mamathompson Sorry to hear about everyone being sick. We went to Destin Fl 7 years ago and we still talk about the food poisoning/stomach flu we all got. If food poisoning have to blame me as we cooked in the condo. We still refer to it as the "ravioli incident". It wasn't fun as it hit my DS very hard and he missed 2 days on the beach. But sometimes those are the memories you keep, just not happy to spend money to make those type of memories.

On churning news, my Delta Biz Gold came late last week and I broke it in this weekend! I am still looking to see how to get the $50 stmt credit. I do have a trip booked on Delta for March (free since paid for by professional association). I might "upgrade" to comfort+ with the $50. I'll be using that trip to make a big dent in MSR. Best kind: hotel and food are reimbursable! They pay for the flight upfront or that would have been an additional dent.
:offtopic:Looking for some Charleston help. The meeting in March is in Charleston. Don't get to pick hotel (Courtyard Marriott Historical District). Any restaurant ideas within walking distance or must dos? I'll have about 3/4 of the first day open, I think I'll do the harbor tour. Not sure if I'll have time to visit a plantation but I'm looking into it.

:offtopic::offtopic:Other travel help needed. In May we're going to Colorado Springs. Using my 7 night cert from Marriott and at first I picked the Springhill Suites. It got good ratings but I google earthed (not sure that is correct way to say it) and it is right by the CS airport. Is it too close? I didn't see anything in the reviews about noise. I do want free breakfast and I picked the suites as a little more room was nice. Thinking of moving closer to Garden of the Gods if possible (Residence Inn). Anyone with personal experience to help me pick one way or the other?

There’s really no reason to request a reduction of CL from Amex because Amex will automatically take CL from your open cards if the computer thinks it’s needed to approve a new card.

There is some speculation (mainly on the MyFICO forums) that, if I understand correctly, a CL of $35k or more on one card may subject you to scrutiny that could lead to a FR? I have not paid too much attention to that. My 3 SPG cards all have CLs in the $20ks, and I haven’t been subjected to a FR. *Knocks on wood.*

Are you near Cinci? I told my DB/SIL that I'd come up next year to help with DN since DB is always away in AZ for spring training (he's an adult who writes about adults playing a child's game). They were both like "thanks...but you know it gets cold here, right?" I think they were implying a Floridian can't handle snow or something:laughing:

About 2 hours north of Cincinnati. Enjoying the snow is one thing, driving in it is an entirely different proposition! One good thing is that when we do get bad weather we generally have the resources to clear it relatively quickly. At least on the main highways. I lived in Va Beach in my early 20’s and we got a storm there that would have shut things down here in Ohio for one day, but there everything was down for five days. People complain about the road crews here taking forever to clear the roads, but honestly I think they do a great job.

I am holding that sweet Chase Ink Cash card in my hands! I still get excited when a new card shows up - it's like a kid on Christmas over here!!:blush:::yes:::dance3:

Got my CIC in the mail today too! I'm super excited this is only a $3k msr. The last 2 have been $5k, which we didn't have a problem meeting, which is kind of scary. Hoping to meet this one somewhat quickly but not too quickly :rotfl:

The Aspire has a CL of $32K -- I think I will lower it. There's no way I'm charging $30,000+ on any card, but least of all the Aspire.
