im assuming normally u are able to get through TSA with just first and last?
My mom had an issue with a - in her middle name and TSA gave her a huge hassle with it. The best practice we have learned is that whatever ID/passport you will use, make sure the name of the ticket/booking is the same exact.
As for changing the name, most airlines require u to cancel your ticket and rebook. Had a friend in one of the airlines say that ppl always call in and get all mad about that haha.

We've never had an issue before with TSA and I don't think I've ever put middle names down for the tickets. I'm just hoping to trigger Pre-check for this next trip. Rebooking the tickets isn't really an option, some of the flights have almost tripled in price since I got in on the Hawaii discounts.

That's the look!!! :rotfl2:I think maybe I had a traumatic experience that I've blocked out, or my taste buds are broken! But give me allllllllllllll the savory food!

It's odd they don't have a resort because that could be a factor for a lot of people. If they get married at a couples/adults only resort then anyone with kids would have to stay elsewhere and then travel to the resort, if the property lets kids attend the weddings. Or if they want to go but can't afford that resort the same. I have no desire to go to Jamaica either and wouldn't be comfortable traveling between resorts. I remember there used to be pretty good deals for getting married at the resorts but who knows if it's still that way. You used to also be able to get free china for going on your honeymoon if you spent a certain amount. I can't remember if this was sandals or the other adults one I can't remember. Hopefully they aren't getting married at one of the hedonism resorts, though I don't remember if they offered weddings since it's more of a honeymoon type place. Jamaica just doesn't seem like a friendly wedding destination to me compared to other places in the caribbean.

LOL ok, but that would be hilarious...

I agree. And I don't know what the cutoff age for "kids" is at the resorts, but my niece (nephew's sister) is 14... I'm just not seeing this happening for me.

Ok, here's my what would you do...I've had the AmEx Delta Gold personal for about 4 years. Since we fly delta often, its been good to have for when we are all traveling and the free bags. I just got off chat with an AmEx rep who said I can only product change it within the Delta personal cards since its a co-branded one. The Delta Blue has no AF and really no benefit as the benefits of the Platinum outweigh the benefits of the Blue. Would you just product change it to the Blue so that I don't have to cancel a card with AmEx? I might go for an AmEx Biz in the future and I didn't want to piss them off over a cancelled card but at the same time, there's no point in having a card with an annual fee that I will never use.

How’s Huntsville? Lol

I'm not @BamaBoy but my parents have lived there for 18 years (I think). They love it and I'm having the darndest time trying to convince them to move to paradise (Pensacola) before something traumatic happens and it will be a big pain to move them (sigh, parents).

They like it because it has a large segment of educated people (not my judgment, theirs)-engineers, NASA geeks, university folks, etc as well as a small military base (arsenal) and resulting military facilities-pharmacy, commissary, etc. It has four seasons, albeit not as cold as the North/Midwest gets and for big medical needs, Nashville (Vanderbilt) isn't too far away, nor is Birmingham. There are some arty things they enjoy (sorry, not my interest so no idea what) and again, Nashville is two hours away so DF can go up annually and watch UGA beat Vandy.

Although they are obviously older, there also seems to be a lot of young families in Huntsville as well (mom is always babysitting or doing MOPS classes). If you like (pork) barbeque, it's good for that (although, ahem, barbeque is beef, obviously).

Clearly, I'm no expert but they've lived all over the world and this is the longest they've chosen to live anywhere (and they were 2 small town Midwest folks in the day). So it might be worth consideration.

The more I think about this, the more I think that any real life acquaintance that I've known getting married in the Caribbean... got married in Jamaica :confused3 DHs friend had someone who invited him to theirs, and he declined due to cost. Then a bit later he ran into the groom's father who he'd known a long time, and were chatting, and the father went on a whole thing about how the wedding was such a great deal because if they got X number of people to book stays at the resort, the wedding/reception/bride and groom's stay was all free. They had to buy wedding clothing and get there, but about everything else was covered.

I think the above is a fair description. I live about 2 hours south and I can tell you it is one of the most desirable areas of the state. Growing like wildfire. New Mazda plant perhaps?

Quick question...I’ve convinced my sister to get the SW card for free flights for a Disney trip next summer. I’ve not churned many cards and have basically just kept the ones I have churned as the benefits outweighed the annual fee. This particular card has a $69 annual fee applied the first billing cycle. So my sister is wanting to get the card, earn the points and then cancel.
1. Is that ok for this card since the annual fee is charged initially?
2. If she applies now (March 2019) but isn’t going to use the points until (May 2020) will there be any issues? My understanding is that the points in her account aren’t affected by whether the card is open or not.
3. Any other issues anyone can think of?

This will likely be a one churn situation for her. I don’t see this as becoming a hobby so I’m not worried about any 5/24 status with her going forward.

Interestinggggg. Well, I just talked to my mom who still hasn't gotten her save the date for some reason (she lives next door to me). She says she wants to go, so she can be the family representative haha. I initially didn't think she was interested at all, but she does like warm places in the winter. I'll feel less guilty if she goes.

I mean, I don't want to say they're all like that or anything. But I thought that was a pretty interesting deal.

The banks definitely frown upon getting points and closing within the first year. I really don't see the point of it either. She already paid the fee, why the hurry to close the card? If she keeps it for 1 year, she will get anniversary points added to her SW account. She can then cancel the card and get the 2nd fee refunded. She still paid $69 for the card but at least she will get 3000 points for it in return. Also, most likely she will not have exact points needed for a flight. What if she is a few points short, putting spend on the card is an easy way to get more points if needed. I see no plus side to cancelling the card right away.
