Am I the only one devastated by the Country Bear Jamboree Updates just released?

We saw it last week. I love what they've done to it. We saw it twice, after the first time my thoughts were like..."ehhhhh i liked the older version better." Thinking about it before we went back to see it again, my thoughts were, its not really for me, its for kids and should be updated for the next generation. So when we went back to watch it again, i went in with that mindset, i loved it.

Disney did a great job, they did a great job ensuring that this attraction will be here for years to come now. good job disney

Nostalgia for who? I don’t know anyone under the age of 60 who has nostalgia for old westerns tbh. I’m sure some people do but it’s not the masses. Most people with young kids now days have nostalgia for 90s Disney and not the Wild West. Personally I thought the show was a bit crass and never planned to revisit. Now I might. I don’t mind crass when it’s an adult themed attraction but CBJ was presented as family fun.

I liked the shooting gallery mostly because my (70+)dad loved showing off on it but I understand why they removed it. If you really want to go shooting it’s not like Disney is your only option in the US.

On the whole I think Disney did a good job in changing their image to appeal to younger families.
Frontierland is popular and it has nothing to do with guests' ages. Fantasyland is one of the most popular lands, but most of the movies referenced came out long before most guests were born. Dinoland has appeal, but I'm guessing none of us were around when dinosaurs walked the earth.

And any attraction (even one that you have to pay for) that is replaced by a DVC sales point = a big loss, and disservice to guests.

You know there was more to the old west than shooting, right?

Yep, we were the same, much as it pains me to say it🙄

DH thinks they did a decent job, but DH thinks it needs to be about 5 minutes longer and the girls need solos and Big Al needs more stage time. But overall, he liked the choice of music, just feels lke there could be a bit more in there.

So far, I've seen CBJ twice - live, in person. (I previously posted that I watched the video. First and foremost, the entire audience was smiling, clapping, with some (trying to) sing along. As a huge fan of the original shows - I absolutely completely and totally loved it.

Saw this for the first time during EEH on opening day, and here's what I have to say...
I have to admit, they did a pretty good job with this and I am impressed especially with the lobby. The songs are super catchy and everything and got my feet stomping, and the audience clapping along even singing along at some points. I am going to take a point off for them not leaving in “Blood on the saddle” but hey, it is what it is! The Country Bears are here to stay and that’s what matters most!
Overall: 8/10

Oh yeah, and please bring this to Tokyo Disneyland OLC I SWEAR!

I've yet to see it in person, but I have watched it many times on live streams.

What's great: the updated animatronics and a musical lineup that people actually know and sing along with. (Most people probably don't even know the original playlist were all "real" songs by country artists of the 60s.)

What's not so great: The jokes. Most of them fall flat or just don't make any sense. I mean, what the heck does "Poor curtains" even mean? The two biggest laughs are always when Wendell starts singing "Whole New World" -- because the mandolin and piano opening don't give away the song, and Wendell's look and voice stand in hilarious contrast to the song itself -- and when Big Al starts into "Remember Me" -- again, contrast. I, too, wish they had kept "Blood on the Saddle," but at least they made a good song choice here.

I wish they would study the audience reactions and do a mild rewrite to punch up the humor. Otherwise, it's great to see the Bears are here to stay.

I have to agree. I saw it on YouTube before I left the UK and was half and half at the idea but decided to give it a shot a few days back. I grew up with the original, so it was strange to walk into a whole new show. I respect that Disney is updating things over time and that's super cool but I dunno, it just...was boring to me. I do love those three on the wall though, even if their names have escaped me right now.

Finally saw the new one and absolutely adored it. I loved the old one but this version is even better imo, and the audience was genuinely more into it than I ever saw before. The arrangements were so well done from a musical standpoint and it was great to hear different genres of country represented. Every one of them are bangers. Try Anything specifically works so much better as pop country than the original, and I say that as a massive Shakira fan.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth about this online is genuinely so hilarious to me.

Make sure to give the Full Versions of the songs a listen if haven't yet! Some of them are even better being the full song than the snippets used in the show!

We’ve been going to Disney World for almost 40 years, and it’s my happy place. That said, I can’t think of any attraction change or closure that would devastate me. Maybe it’s the word choice. Things change, and this thread will likely spur me to visit Vountry Bears n3 t trip

I totally understand your frustration! I grew up loving the original attractions, and it feels like they just keep changing everything that made them special. I remember going to the park with my family and feeling that rush of nostalgia when I saw those classic scenes. It’s a bummer when they overhaul things instead of just giving them a little touch-up. The idea of changing the music and vibe can be jarring, especially for kids who connect with the originals. I hope they can find a balance that honors the past while still being enjoyable for everyone.

I recently saw the new show and didn't like it at all. Just another show where you hear the familiar disney songs I've heard 20 other times at the parks. It felt too polished. The singing voices were almost too good, which kind of took away from the bears being the ones who actually sing it. The original show was better to me, and judging by the things I heard when it was over, a lot of the audience didn't enjoy it either. Nothing unique about it anymore.

Shootin arcade now gone also. One of the favs the kids enjoyed. Nostalgia was great with that one for me also. The whole area is gonna loose its charm.

In the end, things change though, so can't complain. Maybe the new generation will enjoy the new show more than the old generation. I guess that's the point. Adults enjoyed the old one. Kid's probably didn't. So in the end, its more for them than us anyway
