Update on the dealership card---

I called and spoke with the lady at the dealership today; DH does not have to use that card. :) They're happy to have us use whatever card we want or to pay by check. :cool1:

I called the credit card company and explained what had happened. I asked if there was a way for us to not have the card, especially because we never activated it and DH had misunderstood the terms at the dealership. The lady said, "Oh that's no problem. I'll just cancel it. Done!"

While she was helpful, and I don't want the card. I'm afraid this will still probably count against DH's 5/24. In other news though, DH's tractor repair should easily meet my MSR on my new CIP. I'll refer him (if he still has an available slot) this fall and he can earn rewards, too.

Can we write off the AF on a business card as an expense?

Yes you can deduct the annual fee.

@Natgridenergy , @KPK02090 , and anyone else that opened the Santander bank account early Dec, check for your bonus :) Mine's pending today right on time. Account opened 12/4, bonus pending 3/5.

Since we got hit with the CA fees I did both a Schwab brokerage push and a combination of various paycheck type things to hit the 1,000 DD, so I'm not a good DP on what counts. But it was a helpful account as a push from Santander triggers the M&T bonus (also Schwab and Fidelity brokerage accounts seem to work there too).

Now what can I open next to move my paychecks to?
That's great! How about the Wells Fargo one? I wish I had real DD to use for these bonuses. We don't even have direct deposit where I work!

Ugh, after two years in Temple at Scott & While, my dream TX home is south of that, although I've read New Braunfels and Fredericksburg have gotten crazy crowded too:sad1:

Yes! I was just in NB 2 weekends ago for softball. I swear this shopping center just rose out of nowhere in the past year. It gave us something to do between games at least.

There are some REALLY good deals on Priceline right now over Labor Day...if anyone is looking. They aren’t opaque...hotel listed clear as day. I can’t decide what to do because I hate that you have to pay in full, even though it is cancellable.
Ugh, you have me looking. DS asked to go while we are in FL in June I could n’t work it into the schedule. Maybe a Labor Day trip is in order.

I've fallen into the abyss of looking at room rates on PL for Aug lol! I've been unsure of what to do since it will be awhile still until I have our AA miles in place. I think I will go ahead and book through PL since the rates are so great and then cancel what I can use miles for. Sound like a good plan??

Question for the experts!
I just applied for the Barclays Aviator Bussiness card and got the “we need more information”. Would it be ok to apply for the AA Citi bussiness today as well? Or is this a bid no-no?

Barclays will not pull your credit again - they will merely update your app with whatever information they need - so you are fine to also apply for the Citi AA biz anytime you want. Barclays won't see the hard pull from Citi unless they explicitly need to pull your credit again (which they will tell you, and is also unusual).

That would have been good, but I stupidly opened a targeted $200 one the other week that they sent me. Despite my original intention to ignore it since they have my mortgage and will all the screw ups they do I try not to touch anything related to that, they sent me a reminder that I'd be missing out if I didn't open it soon and FOMO kicked in and I did it anyway :headache:

Tried to open it online for the $50 CC funding (haha!) and to avoid having someone potentially screw it up, but I screwed it up myself and it was rejected for online opening and would have to go in branch. Should have let it go, but I think I was possessed because I went in branch to try to just ID verification the online opening but they don't do that. At that point, in for a penny, in for a pound, I actually opened the darn thing and got my name updated on the mortgage (since it wouldn't let me create a separate profile and wouldn't add the checking account to my existing one) and apparently my address. Who knew that Wells Fargo sends all documents to the mortgaged address regardless of what address you put? Never knew they kept carrying over my original address from when I took out the mortgage with Wachovia since I was staying at my parents while I renovated the place. So basically I did everything I have been avoiding for a few years in an effort to not upset the system... for $200

Anyway, the $200 offer has an optional DD but you can get the bonus with just 10 debit transactions each month for 3 months (essentially). I figured it was easier than guessing what would count as a DD for the higher offer and I wouldn't have to move as much money around since the $400 one requires 3 months of 3k DD's. Hubby was getting tired of watching money hopscotch each month and I'm wanting to stay on his good side so he opens the $600 Citizens offer :)

DHs BBP came so already working on that. Got the welcome back for my Citi AA biz so based on the DPs it will be an eternity before it comes.

Cracking up at gross hotel room stories. A bunch of us went to Newport RI for a bachelorette party and stayed at this horrible place. There were HotPockets and half drunk water bottles in the fridge. Then we open the window and in the sill (in the actually room part it was like a bay window) was a dirty pair or men’s underwear. We called the front desk to complain. They told us to go screw - they knew we were a bachelorette party squeezing way too many people into the rooms (which we were). We pushed the undies out the window with the hanger. We threatened to eat the HotPockets too but thankfully that didn’t happen!!!

Oh no!!! That just happened to me with TD...cc funding didn't work and now I have to go into a branch or let it close. Still debating. So you haven't gotten the bonus on the Wells Fargo yet then, right? I was reading DPs on DOC that if you haven't gotten it yet you could close and try for this one instead. Might want to check it out!

Do it! lol
Are you going for end of August near Labor Day? I am so afraid since the last time we were there at that time we got the hurricane. What a mess that was, as you surely remember.

Can anyone help with travel insurance. Leaving the 14th for a cruise (cruise 17-24th). 2 adults, 4 kids. I looked at insure my trip.com BUT there’s still a lot of options. Is there certain things I should be looking at?

I wish we could go in late August/early Sept but with two kids in college, I just can't have them missing that much school :( Our current dates are aug 6-15/16.

Yes, Irma was such a mess! Between that and my dd being sick and me having to take her to urgent care, I feel like that whole trip was just a blur.

DD opened hers in January. First bank account bonus!!! It’s great to hear they are right on schedule.

THIS happened at our biggest horse show we go to every year. Warning: the description of the injury is not for the faint of heart. The robber was later caught.

There's a reference in that article to a grandmother who shot a robber at the same horse show the year before. Here's the story on THAT.

That horse show is well-known in Columbus since it's a month-long and there are a lot of people coming to it with money... LOTS of thefts!!

“She’s the worst shot in the world." :rotfl2: Who says that after the fact! She saved him his money. :rotfl:
“Everybody here knows what the game is.” :lmao:

there may be some discount programs attached to the dealer card that he doesn't know he signed up for. that is the only reason i can think of for them to require it. they also may not accept credit cards for large amounts because it cuts into their profits. ( i work at a dealership)

Edited. Clawback as I misspoke.
