This is an important distinction really. My mom passed unexpectedly - went to work and collapsed. Then I spent the next 6 months watching my grandma give up and fade away. She'd been battling cancer for over 10 years.Completely agree. That’s why I specified harder for survivors. Definitely better for the deceased.
DHs friend just lost his grandma, but they were expecting it so he made it out there to visit with her each day for almost a week. That was good for him and he made his peace with it (I'm not sure what was wrong with grandma).
