Completely agree. That’s why I specified harder for survivors. Definitely better for the deceased.
This is an important distinction really. My mom passed unexpectedly - went to work and collapsed. Then I spent the next 6 months watching my grandma give up and fade away. She'd been battling cancer for over 10 years.

DHs friend just lost his grandma, but they were expecting it so he made it out there to visit with her each day for almost a week. That was good for him and he made his peace with it (I'm not sure what was wrong with grandma).

SWGE Rumor: Star Wars at Disney World might open in Sept/Oct

https://mobile.twitter.com/WDWNT/status/1102962805421031424

I’d imagine this could affect some folks trip plans if this comes true.

Shoot I should’ve made my aug and sept reservations instead of procrastinating. I don’t care about SW at all, just want cheap rooms.

ETA: of course DD19 isn’t answering her phone to book me a room.
And can y’all imagine what fall break trips will be like in oct if it is open. They are already intolerable (for me) but holy moly. Crazytown!

My flights from OAK to HNL has already doubled in price. From HNL to PHX is not quite double at the moment. I'm still on the fence about placeholder tickets for the littles. I should have my CP next week so DS2 will be booked then. I really want to use DH's CP to take a trip before this (June maybe), then switch it to DD2 and have her booked to Hawaii. What would you do? Hawaii trip is August.

And if I book them, or her, on points now, is it easy to swap that to CP?

i'd do place holders. those tickets are going fast.

Hmmmmm. Not sure how I feel about this.
Can they just announce the dang ending date for Illuminations so I can finalize that trip?!?!?! I don't really want to deal with SW crowds.
Same! I was hoping to avoid the crowds, but also don't want to go in hurricane season, ugh. I was thinking October...I need a new plan.

So some of you may remember I referred my DH to the S.W. Plus card in order to complete my points needed for the CP. I was at 103,000 points so the 10,000 referral would have put me above 110,000. I was expecting it to post after my statement close. I’ve been patiently waiting the last couple days and today the points for last months spends posted (about 1100) but no bonus and no CP! :badpc::badpc::badpc:

Is this normal? Do I give it another day or two before making a phone call?

How close to statement close did you refer? I had someone use my Disney link once and it took 6 weeks to post. It was halfway through a cycle when they used it but didn't post until next statement. Have never had someone use my SW link so not sure how long it usually takes.

Sounds like I (might) get to experience crazy SW crowds twice this year! We have a DL trip at the end of July and an adults only trip for F&W at the beginning of Oct. On one hand I'm excited to experience Galaxy's Edge, but not looking forward to the crowds at all!

There are some REALLY good deals on Priceline right now over Labor Day...if anyone is looking. They aren’t opaque...hotel listed clear as day. I can’t decide what to do because I hate that you have to pay in full, even though it is cancellable.

Will your dd still be in her CP? Or is this in case she extends?

@Natgridenergy , @KPK02090 , and anyone else that opened the Santander bank account early Dec, check for your bonus :) Mine's pending today right on time. Account opened 12/4, bonus pending 3/5.

Since we got hit with the CA fees I did both a Schwab brokerage push and a combination of various paycheck type things to hit the 1,000 DD, so I'm not a good DP on what counts. But it was a helpful account as a push from Santander triggers the M&T bonus (also Schwab and Fidelity brokerage accounts seem to work there too).

Now what can I open next to move my paychecks to?

I'm likely to blame for this one. Have my first ever UR earning card on its way to me, with the full intent of sending all the points to DH's UR account. :headache: Of course I won't have said points for 3 months.

Thank you so much for the explanation. I was looking last night and I saw there was one BIZ (which would be great) and 3 regular. I also kept seeing "free night" so I'll have to look again. Also would need the points this year (I think) which might make a difference. There are a few Radisson Blu hotels in Oslo that look nice, so likely that's where we will stay. Prices (cash) aren't looking so bad for Europe at the moment, but of course I have no idea what they will be when I do want to book. And I'd rather pay with points.

The business and the signature card both give you 50K after first purchase with 35K more after $2500 spend. The free nights are after 10K additional spend.

I'm busy looking at the business now that you all started talking about this. I have the premier and a hundred K plus points - wouldn't hurt to jack this up a little. But - haven't put a dime on the premier and I'm thinking that before I apply for the business I might want to actually use the personal card.

Ok, just twist my arm about trying to go LD weekend before our APs expire...

Update on the dealership card---

I called and spoke with the lady at the dealership today; DH does not have to use that card. :) They're happy to have us use whatever card we want or to pay by check. :cool1:

I called the credit card company and explained what had happened. I asked if there was a way for us to not have the card, especially because we never activated it and DH had misunderstood the terms at the dealership. The lady said, "Oh that's no problem. I'll just cancel it. Done!"

While she was helpful, and I don't want the card. I'm afraid this will still probably count against DH's 5/24. In other news though, DH's tractor repair should easily meet my MSR on my new CIP. I'll refer him (if he still has an available slot) this fall and he can earn rewards, too.

Can we write off the AF on a business card as an expense?

Yes, but probably best to only use that card for business expenses if you deduct. The CC companies don't really care or check, but if audited IRS might.

Plus food and wine festival.

I opened 12/5. Nothing pending today, hopefully tomorrow :-)
