yawn...
a little birdie told me of a new marriott card incoming...

So what do we think the Premier Plus is, a mass consumer or premium product? I assumed it was the premium product and a mass consumer would be something with a no AF, or very low AF ala the old $45 Marriott or like they did with IHG and the $29 card. But now I wonder what perks they'd give to that card to make it appealing to the masses? On the flip side, if $95 is considered the mass product what could they do in between that and $450 that would be worthwhile to pay ? There's no standard category between the two free night certs and the Lux only does Gold status already, so it'd have to be earning rates unless they think of a perk the Lux doesn't (like free breakfast or something). So I guess probably more likely it is the premium product and whatever they release may only be good for a bonus and hopefully it's a very good one to win back the masses that jumped ship during the merger :) (that would be the only way I can sell it to hubby since I'm stuck in SPG world and he's got the Marriotts :p)

Both sets of our magic bands came in last night! We didn’t get them until today because we had a snow storm but I didn’t actually think we would get them since we booked so last minute

Why do you need two sets of magicbands? As a local I'm always confused on why people get new ones every trip. Seems so wasteful. Just curious on what everyone does with them all and why people don't opt out of getting another set when they already have ones.

Do you have a side hustle or something that would qualify as a “business”?

The best offer out there right now is Chase Ink Preferred for 80k Ultimate Rewards for $5,000 spend.

@SouthFayetteFan Thank you for the tip, as I am the managing member of an LLC. The thought didn't cross my mind until you mentioned it. Correct me if I am wrong, but would I be able to apply for the business card and the personal card at the same time to capitalize on the rewards?

To apply for a Chase business card you have to be 0/30...which means no other chase cc applications business and personal is the last 30 days. I’d recommend applying for the business card first....but probably best to apply with your name and SS number as the business name and EIN...if you use the LLC..Chase is probably going to ask you to fax documentation ...then wait at least 1 month...2 -3 is is better to increase your chances of the personal card being auto approved

I feel kind of bad.... put a Disney Dooney up on Ebay finally. I've been debating doing it for a year, and got an offer for half price fees on the next 5 things I sold for over $50, if I listed them by a certain date. It's one of the blue/aqua Dogs tote pattern that was so popular. Tons of orders were getting cancelled so I ordered through the Shop Parks app and through the Disney website and ended up getting both of my orders. I opened the one I liked the most and have been using it and the other is still in plastic. Listed it, immediately got 5 offers and ~20 watchers... best offer is $20 below asking price, and that is still almost $50 more than I spent on BOTH bags together. But that is the market for this pattern :confused3

Free market capitalism. Take your profits and run.

What rewards would you be capitalizing on? There typically isn’t a good reason to apply for more than one card at a time these days. You could get a CIP and then once you hit the $5k get another card (that should help you space out applications by a couple months).

If you do apply please consider supporting a DISer by using a link on DISchurners. :)

I think you mean 0/30 :)

EDIT: additional discussion later on how to reference this rule LOL. In this instance you’d want to say “have to be 0/30” based on the wording used :)

I am one of those people. When we went near Halloween, I put cute little Halloween themed decals on them from etsy. I did the same when we went at Christmas. I also have one that has classic Minnie on it - which I love. It is wasteful, but I love having the different colors and themes.

I'm tempted to ask in the comments "So how am I getting back from my free one way flight?"

I don't think the article is a terrible premise, some people have to start small to "get it" and it is pretty much a no risk card, but be honest about all of it.

That makes sense. I have different themed ones I have purchased. I just wasn't sure what people did with multiple ones of the same color with nothing on them when you can just reuse them from the last trip.

We also decorate new ones for each trip so I have a drawer full of decorated bands. We only go once a year so I don’t feel guilty getting new bands for each trip. I might if we went a lot but we don’t have that ‘problem’ lol.

@elgerber How is the job search going?

I am waiting to hear this week on a job I have met with the guy twice, completed the app and background check, and he said he was going to start calling references. If this doesn't happen, I am lost. Nothing out there right now in my line of work. I had two other interviews, both were HUGE paycuts, like, no way in heck to pay the bills (35% or more of my income) paycuts. That was scary, if that's all that's out there nowadays. I do not know what this other one pays, he said he thought it was in the ballpark of what I was making, but I don't have any numbers. He asked for my last paystub and 2017 w2, guess to verify I was making what I told him I did?
One of the other interviews was sooooooo frustrating, I stewed over it for days, still kinda am LOL.

This last trip I got a puck holder for my Apple watch. Before that though, I had a few different ones, that I decorated differently, to wear to different parks, or with different outfits, or just because they were cute LOL.

I think that's great!! I had one I bought, used the heck out of it, and I still got more than I paid for it selling it! Granted, that's not the norm anymore, but this one was in demand at the time.

You can order different colors each time. I have most of the colors. I had stopped ordering them, but then they changed the style of them, so started again after I ditched my older ones.

I think you mean 0/30 :)

So here's where a glossary of standard definitions may be helpful as I've seen it both ways more recently - and the first way I saw it was 1/30, 2/30 and so that's how it's stuck in my head. But 0/30, 1/30 might be an easier way to explain it. As a group just have to decide a consensus on how to shorthand it.

Option A:
1/30 - can only have one application within a 30 day period, this includes the card you are applying for, and all application types count. Rule applies to business card applications.
2/30 - can only have two applications within a 30 day period, this includes the card you are applying for, and all application types count. Rule applies to personal card applications.

Option B:
0/30 - can't have any other applications in the previous 30 days and all application types count. Rule applies to business card applications.
1/30 - can't have more than one application in the previous 30 days and all application types count. Rule applies to personal card applications.

They both mean, if you applied for a Chase card in the last 30 days you can't apply for a business card without expecting an immediate denial but you can apply for a personal card; if you've already applied for two Chase cards in the last 30 days, don't apply for a third without expecting a denial. But it comes down to what's the best way to reference it without typing it all out every time :). FWIW r/churning still has Option A listed in the Anti Churning Rules guide post.

I actually agree with that premise too. But there are so many better cards to start slow and easy with. Or just be honest as you say.

We'll be seeing some pumping for that new no fee Citi card soon too. I noticed MMS was running a banner ad for it so there's probably affiliate income starting soon. Everyone brace!

I think I typically use option C lol. 0/30 and 2/30 hahaha

I think of it as “I need to be 0/30 to apply for a Chase biz card” AND “Until I drop below 2/30 I can’t apply for another Chase card”.

The fun thing is at this point 2/30 is rarely discussed because AoR isn’t really a thing anymore and spacing out apps is so much more common.
