Is there a way to tell when you added someone as an authorized user to one of your accounts? DH recently applied for the Chase Ink business unlimited and I’m pretty sure he is under the 5/24 rule, but he is an authorized user on some of my accounts and I’m not sure when he was added.

It would be the same date you opened the card for 5/24 count
Edited to add that’s my experience with Chase and Amex...YMMV

Check DH’s (primary and AU) card accounts on Credit Karma for the date a card was opened. If that date is past 24 months ago, don’t count it towards 5/24.

As for the CIU, if DH is actually at or over 5/24 (perhaps because AUs count against him), his application status would go straight to 7-10 days (likely denial) fast.

Depending on the issuer of the AU cards, it may be possible to remove your husband as an AU and the AU cards from his credit reports if the AU card(s) are counting against his 5/24.

Your district must have some serious dough. In our school there are 2 of each class k-2 and each grade shares a computer cart. There are 3 third and fourth grade classes and they have their own computers but they can’t take them home.
Yes, it is a bigger district and families are charged a tech fee to offset some of the cost.

I don’t believe that’s true for Amex AUs.

Not sure how it works now for all Amex cards..but when DH graduated college in 1982 he opened a Amex card.....he added me as an authorized user around 1995...my card said member since 1982...we closed the account in 2005

Applied for my first Amex card the end of last year and it says member since 82 :confused3

Hi everyone! I posted awhile ago on the original thread. I noticed the new one but for some reason I wasn’t following it. Im posting because I applied the other day for the BoA Cash Rewards card. I figured it would make a good “everyday” card with my CFU. These are the cards I currently have: CF, CFU, CSP, Disney VISA, Discover it, AmEx Blue Cash, and TD Cash.

I have no relationship with BoA, and my application is “in review.” I’m thinking if it doesn’t get approved it might be because of my 2 applications for the Disney Visa and Discover it back in the fall. It won’t be the end of the world, but I’d like the card for the choice of the 3% category that can be changed every month! Does anyone have this card? Any pros/cons? Is BoA difficult to get approved with?
Quoting myself because I think my questions got lost back on page 286! Any insight on the BoA Cash Rewards card, or BoA at all?

Yeah, with Amex if you’re an AU on a primary cardmember’s older card, your “Member Since” is backdated to their member since year. And if you later get your own Amex card on which you are the primary cardmember, you’ll keep that backdated member since year.

However — and there was some discussion about this last year — if you add an AU onto your Amex card, it seems the AU account opening date that shows up on the AU’s credit reports is the date they were added as an AU, not backdated to the date the primary card was opened and not to the member since date.

I recently pc'd to the cash rewards card from an old americard that I never used. It seems pretty sweet especially if you have preferred rewards. I've read that BoA likes to have a "relationship" with you, so sometimes people open bank accounts and then apply for cc's. They denied me for the merrill card back when that was a thing even though I did have the americard. I opened a checking account, waited a while, applied for the premium rewards card, and was approved. They can be a pain to deal with though and the wait times when you call are usually long.

Unfortunately can’t check mine since it’s a business card

I missed this yesterday. I have some experience with BoA, as I've held the Amtrak card since they took over the account, and I've had a few new accounts with them since.

BoA has cracked down significantly over the past 6 months to a year or so. They have a specific rule to their own cards, often referenced as 2/3/4 - no more than 2 cards every 30 days, no more than 3 cards every 12 months, and no more than 4 cards every 24 months. Since this is your first BoA card, clearly you're not in violation of those rules.

It's hard to say for sure what BoA's cutoff is, but I know I've been shot down in recon for having 10 inquiries over the past 12 months. I don't know if that's for sure a hard rule, or if I just have so many inquiries it was easier to round. The fact that your application went pending to me is good news. All of my denials with BoA have been auto-denials, rather than a pending application that was later denied. You can call recon if you want, or just wait it out. It's possible they need some kind of verification.

One thing BoA has started doing is requesting a deposit account to approve you for a credit card. The most common DP I've seen is a request to open a $1500 CD, and they will approve you for a card. It's up to you if this is worth it or not. If it comes to that, you could try offering opening a checking account instead, if you'd be more comfortable with checking over a CD (there's almost always at least a $100 checking bonus with BoA). Hopefully, that won't happen to you.

How many cards do you have across all issuers in the last 6/12/24 months? Again, it's hard to know for sure what BoA's hard cutoff is, but there's definitely a number that's too many for them to approve you at all.

The picture that prints out when you use the GE kiosks at customs is equally as bad. I think they must be doing some type of facial recognition between the two. (I remember when The Universal on-site hotels had the picture kiosks for the Express pass and those pictures were the worst ever.)

LOL! Mine always has the top of my head as I'm squinting down to do something or a family member in the background photobombing. I hope that's not their high tech facial recognition! If I were an immigration person I'd just laugh all day at the terrible photos:)

I'm pretty sure he lives in Miami or at least had a house here that was selling for over 4 million. While I've never run into him at the Centurion lounge or AA Flagship lounge, I suppose he is currently safe from me throat punching him on sight for that article on his blog, don't care who wrote it, it is his blog. Not because I fear arrest for assault or anything. Simply because he is 6' 8 and I am 5' tall. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't be thinking about throat punching him and it's the thought that counts right?

I'd love to boost you up (all 5'4" of me) so you could (or we could double team him and take out his knees-more realistic)...I'm still annoyed he hired Summer Hull whom I'm sure is lovely IRL but annoys the crap out of me in blogland.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Bonvoy, Starwood Purple.

P.S. My SPG cards are still SPG and Purple in Apple Pay -- for now.

P.P.S. I'm going to keep using my purple cards until they expire. My newly pressed SPG Lux replacement came in yesterday.

I agree! So UGLY. My day has barely even started and seeing those images when I logged into Amex just put me in the worse mood. Of course it doesn’t take much with it being a Wednesday and work these days but still!

I can confirm that this is how it was at the end of 2016. DH and I tried to add each other for AMEX points. They showed on our accounts with an opening date of the day we added them. At the time we didnt know how far down the rabbit hole we would go!

Now my experience was weird all around so dont take it as law, but it didnt count in my 5/24 count. There was a lot of confusion with them and we ended up closing them after a couple days. We added each other Christmas eve and that is the opening date, we closed them on the 29th per my notes, but credit karma shows Dec 1st as the closing date. I double dipped the Marriott and CFU as my last 5/24 spot and I think got instant approval on both, when counting the AMEX AU should have put me at 5/24 and denied for those. I'm not sure if it was because we only had them open a couple days.

When I got a denial letter for one of their cards, one of the two reasons was quote "limited deposits and/or investment balances with us". You may see some others mention banking relationship. They also didn't like too many newer accounts. I'm unaware if they have any rule like Chase's 5/24 though, but they must have something.

Big win for me today (although small win in the realm of credit cards). Actually churning the cards Ive received in the past year (7 total) kinda made me nervous. I HATE calling on the phone, even customer service. My very first card was CSP and the annual fee finally posted. Tried secure message but they said I couldn't downgrade. So I called.....got the fee waived and downgraded to a Freedom. Easy peasy! SPG AMEX is my next card I need to cancel. Opened 2/27/18. Should I cancel now or wait for the annual fee to post?

Absolutely wait until the AF posts to cancel. You have 30 days to get it refunded, so maybe even wait a few days after it posts to cancel. No one knows for sure what Amex is using to base the denial-of-bonus popups, but canceling before AF posts/before a year is definitely a factor.
