Yep, they give them thick cases. K-2 ipads, 3-5 notebooks
Your district must have some serious dough. In our school there are 2 of each class k-2 and each grade shares a computer cart. There are 3 third and fourth grade classes and they have their own computers but they can’t take them home.

Mission Complete...Dishwasher Purchased with AMEX MRs redeemed for Home Depot Gift Cards...

And the accounting is complete too - I'm calling this one VACATION SAVINGS!! We would have bought a dishwasher either way so I "expensed" the dishwasher and put a credit against our Disney Vacation cost. That's less URs I need to cash out to net that puppy to $0 :)

Thanks. What’s the CIP?

Also, all this talk of points expiring has me nervous.

I have CSR points. I regularly use the card. Will those points expire?

I have Hhonors points through my Amex Hhonors Ascend card. I know my free night certificates expire, but will my points expire (assuming I’m actively earning points with my cc).

With having an UR earning card you keep your UR points. As of now they don't expire.
Can't answer on the HHonors points as I don't actively collect those.

The Chase Ink Preferred (CIP) is a business card. When you apply for the card you get a 80k UR bonus for spending $5k in the first three months. If you join the dischurners group, message @SouthFayetteFan @Albort or @Lain to join, you can apply and support someone from here. There's also a lot of good info on the group page.

if you don't have a business you probably do have a "business" if you have ever sold items on ebay, or other means that can qualify

Our little suburban district bought Chromebooks for all kids K-8 last year. Each kid has a chrome book and headphones. K-5 stay at school. 6-8 were provided a case as well and expected to take theirs home nightly. I’m not sure exactly how they budgeted, but I’m pretty sure it took a few years to accumulate the funds.

Seeing some chatter on today's r/churning DD thread about GCs not triggering Amex reimbursement as of a few days ago, because the charge details are now coding as "gift card". Anyone have any very recent DPs? I am kind of surprised Amex allowed this to go on as long as they did given the T&Cs explicitly state the airline credit does not count for GCs, but this is a loophole they could have closed a long time ago if they wanted.

oh great. I Just bought one a couple days ago.

Perhaps this quote will help you approximate when they may be released ;)

I was in WDW this week so I didn't do this update on Thursday...Here is my usual Historical Southwest Release Dates (for planning purposes) comment:
  • NEXT RELEASE: 3/13/19 - travel through November 2nd, 2019 (subject to change...so watch this closely)
  • 1/31/19 - travel through October 1st, 2019
  • 11/15/18 - travel through August 5th, 2019
  • 9/27/18 - travel through June 8th, 2019
  • 8/30/18 - travel through April 7th, 2019
  • 6/28/18 - travel through March 6th, 2019
  • 5/31/18 - travel through January 6th, 2019
  • 3/8/18 - travel through November 3rd, 2018
  • 2/15/18 - travel through October 1st, 2018
  • 11/2/17 - travel through August 6th, 2018
  • 8/28/17 - travel through June 1st, 2018
  • 7/27/17 - travel through April 6th, 2018
  • 6/22/17 - travel through March 7th, 2018
  • 5/18/17 - travel through January 7th, 2018
This could be useful to approximate when your travel time may become available for upcoming releases, however they don't always follow the exact same pattern (as you can see above).
Oh and BTW to everybody - the release date now says MARCH 14th

they can release anytime that week as long as Dec isn't released! We will be at Disney celebrating DD 7th bday and I know I won't be allowed to book flights for another trip especially since they don't know we are doing universal in Dec for the first time with kids

Is this something new with the disboards asking you if you are sure you want to like this post? I've never had this happen before tonight
I feel like I have that randomly happen when I've liked a lot of things or made a bunch of comments recently. I believe its to ensure you are a real person and not a bot.

I got an e-mail from AmEx this morning saying that my free weekend night posted (from my Aspire) and that I will receive an e-mail from Hilton within 8-12 weeks with instructions on how to redeem (that seems long!).

Now to source where I can best use it. I saw the Conrad Fort Lauderdale on the list of properties and thought that might be good for a 1 night break! Or maybe I can put it towards the Conrad Maldives next year (spring, 2020). I won't let it go to waste! Does it have to be used in the 2019 calendar year or can I carry it forward to 2020? Anyone know @calypso726 ?!

As far as I know they expire a year after issue. I do not believe they can be extended but I suppose it can’t hurt to ask.

Okay back on topic. I got an intriguing email today from Hilton. It says something close to this:
Since I have a Hilton biz card and I received a targeted email, I can buy up to 80k Hilton honors points and they will 100% match that.

This seems like a really good deal to me but I’d like anyone else’s input because it may not be worth our money considering how much the points will cost. So if we buy 80k points it will cost us $800 but they will match our point cost so we will get 160k points for $800. I’m not sure but that seems like a good deal except we are paying $800 out of pocket. It isn’t like an MSR so we wouldn’t be paying for things we already need.

What do you guys think? Would you do this deal?

I wouldn’t speculatively purchase. If you’ve a specific redemption in mind and are short some points to make it happen, then nothing wrong with topping off a balance. The only other reason would be to mitigate the cost of a planned stay that is much higher out of pocket for a stay compared to the cost of the points purchase for the stay. If I wanted a couple of extra nights in the Maldives at the Conrad Rangali but didn’t have all the points, I’d consider spending $800 to get enough points for an extra two nights that would normally cost $2600.

From the chatter, it looks like AA changed their coding for gift cards sometime after 2/4, and now list their purchase as “gift certificate” in the details.

Tagging @calypso726 (who I know buys AA GCs).

Any DPs for SW or Delta?

Thank you for the heads up. This would be sad news indeed!

The school I sub at is a little town in the country and they JUST like two years ago got those computer carts.

Yeah we aren’t gonna do it. We only have $250 left on our Hilton stay in Tokyo. If we get enough points before then fine and if not we are perfectly happy paying the $250. That’s a small price to pay for a 6 night stay

I got my new GE card in the mail today and my picture on it is hideous. I’m not sure why they bother with the picture, it looks like it was taken in one of those Chuck E Cheese photobooths. I don’t know if they still have those at CEC or not but they did when my kids were little 15 years ago. The pic is black and white and all grainy. Makes it look like my hair is 100% gray when it is actually only about 50% gray. Humph. :sad2:
I was shocked too! I can only hope the image is better on their computer screen cuz almost anyone can use mine. It reminded me of my pool hall "membership" card where they used the cheapest webcam attached to the oldest computer I'd seen in a long time... I half expected it to print out on a dot matrix but nope b/w inkjet at least :teeth: When I got the GE card in mail I laughed when I opened it and thought I need to keep it separate so I don't grab the cruddy pool hall card by accident... I don't think that has the same authority, hehe.

Just app'ed for my dd18 her own CIP as a day care services biz :) She does babysit. A lot! Just not always in the day lol!

She got the 'we need more time' response but no 30 days or other timeframe. I think I got this before but cannot remember the outcome. Anyone know?

I think its just a system delay in processing the application. Did you call the status line?

Seems like that's the new 30 day message, they made the response generic online. Call the status line to get the usual responses you can interpret. :)
