I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Yep, got the $500 bonus (for DD + 10 debits), got the 1099. You should expect to receive one.

I've seen a lot of "experts" on reddit stating that a bonus requiring only debit purchases is considered a rebate and is thus not taxable. That sounds like BS to me, every bonus fine print says otherwise. And it's not worth pushing your luck with the IRS.
AWESOME!! thank you. i was contemplating doing my taxes this weekend. i will hold off until i receive it.

Interesting idea...I’ve only had my CSR since 8/18..planning on keeping it for the 1.5 redemption

Yeah, I've had mine for 2 years and it would be a money-losing proposition to pc it to a CSP. I love our free meals at the airports! Each time we eat at Timberline at DEN I get $84 worth of restaurant credit.

When DH can churn a sapphire in 2020 though, I'll go the CSP route for him (assuming there's no changes - haha - in the game by then).

Just popping in real quick to remind people to go have a scan through our WDW tips page on reddit! Wow, that thing is going to be a great resource! I hadn't looked for a bit but it's entirely possible @miztressuz (or her wise Reddit twin) put a together a great part under the bank bonus suggestion area that lays out 3 beginner level, and currently available, bonuses for those looking to dip their feet into bank bonuses :thumbsup2

Still need to catch up from last night, but I wanted to circle back on my (so far) very frustrating interactions with Chase on the 1099 error issue. All Twitter support came back with was a number to call for the 1099 department. I recommend skipping this step and going right to CS. The first time I called in to the 1099 department, I was cut off in the middle of explaining my issue. The second time I called in, I explained the issue and then was told that the person in the 1099 department could only see a copy of my 1099 and had no access to information on the detail behind it. Completely useless!! He then transferred me to CS who made me repeat my issue and then spent several minutes "researching." Turns out what he was doing was adding up the dollar value of refunds credited to my CF due to returns. What?!? I explained to him that if the 1099 related to points earned on purchases that were later reversed, then I need about 50,000 more points in my account to be made whole! That stumped him. He decided he needed to transfer me to a "specialist". I again had to give background on my issue. The specialist did indicate that she has had a number of calls on this issue. She also indicated she saw no redemptions or other points activity on my CF that would warrant a $500 1099. Sadly, her only course of action was to open an investigation into the issue that can take up to 30 days. She also suggested I call back in 2-3 weeks to follow up and gave me the direct number to her department. So frustrating to speak with 4 people this morning and end up with essentially no resolution. The 30 days really isn't an issue for me since I file on extension every year, but I doubt it is going to make those who want to file sooner happy. Needless to say, Chase Support heard all about my frustration with the lack of customer service via several Tweets this morning.
I had a somewhat similar experience when I called the 1099 number today. I was transferred to CS and he had no idea how he was supposed to assist me. He was very pleasant though and after adding up UR points determined that there was no was my 1099 was correct. Unfortunately, he then transferred me to the fraud department instead of the 1099 people and they had no idea what I was talking about and put me on hold for a very long time. I ended up hanging up and calling back the 1099 number. After explaining the situation again, the rep opened the dispute. She told me the same thing, call in 2-3 weeks to check the status.

Finally did my GE interview at noon today. Already got the email that I’m approved or passed inspection or whatever. The guy that did the interview told me if I’m traveling by car across the Canadian border, I can use the Nexus (I think that’s the name?) lane now. I didn’t know that.

Curious about this too, and was about to ask when I saw you asked :)
I'm behind so don't know if this has been answered, but if you are going to miss your ADR, just go into your MDE and change the ressie date to sometime in the future (at least a day in advance). Then go ahead and cancel the ressie, thus avoiding the no show fees.

Trying to match up my SPG/Marriott activity from my statements with my Marriott account - what a headache.

Alright, so if my Chase statement shows a referral bonus but it never showed in my Marriott account activity, any recommendations on who I start with to try and resolve that?

How long does it take to receive the CIC? I was approved Mon, is it too late to request it to be expedited? Wasn't in a hurry before but of course now I am ;) TIA!
I did the same thing with the CIP. I didn't initially request an expedition, but then called a few days later. They just told me to destroy the initial card when it came b/c it was already sent out. P2 and I now have one so I don't have to add an employee.

And another question. I can't remember, but when do you get the 15 Elite night credits for an SPG card? Is it when the card renews? I am thinking that with those 15 nights, I might actually be able to get Platinum elite again for next year since I will already have 32 nights once my credit card bonus nights post and will likely have more nights added over the year for work travel.

I think they will post at anniversary. Do you know that you only get one set of 15 nights no matter which Marriott and SPG cards you have? Maybe you are talking about something else with the credit card bonus nights, but just thought I would mention.

I just registered for a new Marriott promotion, I believe it was stay any 2 nights between now and end of May and get 10 extra bonus nights. I think it has to be 2 separate stays. But if that is on your account it may help you out.

Yes, I realize that I only get one 15 night credit card bonus. I only have the SPG business card. The other 17 nights that I have are from stays and promotions. I will need another 18 nights before the end of the year in order to hit Platinum Elite again for next year. But I travel a decent amount for work and always try to stay at Marriott/SPG hotels.

I didn't get the 10 night bonus, but just got one for double elite nights for now through the end of April, so that should help.

Question for all you parents of minors with passports...so my DD's passports are set to expire in 7/19. So I thought I would be proactive and get the renewal ball rolling in anticipation of any more government shutdowns. We don't have any international travel planned this year but are working on something for possibly 2020 and I thought that it was easier to renew. I went online and it looks like there is no renewal option if you were issued your passport prior to the age of 16. It appears that you just have to apply for a new passport - is that correct? If that's the case, then there is no rush and I'll just wait till I figure out next year and then apply for new passports for them.

Trying to play catch up today... still no 1099s from either Chase or AMEX.

I don't really know how to get business mailers, but when you sign up for an American Airlines account, you have the option of entering your home address or business address. I thought I'd try entering my dog's address as his business address.

Also you should know that you cannot change the birthday after the account has been created.

Ah, thank you for explaining that. I have had my AA number for so long I don't remember signing up for it, so I didn't know it was even an option.

Thank you. I would take a free dishwasher. I would pay for a new one I hate mine. Husband just keeps fixing it.:( One day...

LOL my husband is like that with almost everything, except the cheap, so noisy we thought our kitchen was inside a car wash dishwasher the builder installed. It's the only time he hasn't tried to fix something. :rotfl: Oh, and he loves the one we replaced it with. Did all the research and everything.

I'm considering keeping DH's amex platinum after the first year. He uses the uber credits and actually makes use of the lounges. We got AA GC with the travel bonus last year and have already used some of it. I got DD some boots with the Sacks credit. So I think we cover the AF with the benefits.
Also, I have Global Entry renewals coming up for the rest of family (dh just got his) and I was actually considering getting AU cards for me and the girls (they are currently AUs on my gold). I'm not sure that's worth it either. Any thoughts?

Yeah, it's a keeper card for us. Has been for years for various reasons, and now with the lounges and Saks and stuff we aren't even considering getting rid of it. DH just got a nice retention offer on his.

Unexpected side effect of the Amex Platinum Centurion Lounge benefit........how LONG can my layover be and still get me to my destination at a reasonable hour? Those free massages and manis at DFW are hard to resist! Combine that with GE/TSA Pre benefit and airline credits, I am LOVING this card. And I don't even travel a bunch.....YET!

Already trying to figure out how to calculate the value of KEEPING it beyond year one and it's only been three months.

Nice! DD visited the lounge at DFW on an unexpected layover and reported back that it's the nicest one she's seen so far. Sadly she didn't have time for a massage, but they did offer her one.

I get that. I'm just thinking I WANT a platunum AU for myself on the platinum. Once I get one for me, then the other 2 would be free. Do I NEED it? No. But I'm trying to justify it anyway.

I have an AU on DH's plat, and have had it for years. I use FHR and make all of our travel plans and it was a pain when we only had the one card. DD has one of those "free" extra ones, and we'll keep it going because we want her to have it for the moment anyway. You could always get your own (I did that this past Fall with the 100K MR offer).

Y'all know a part of me just died reading this...:)

I know the best redemption is the one we want, but OMG I had the same thought! Thinking about all those first class overseas flights not taken... :rotfl:

Chase Support DM'd me after my frustrated Tweet storm this morning apologizing for my CS experience and saying they would look into it further. I'm not expecting much, but I DM'd back with a brief synopsis of my less-than-impressive interaction with Chase this morning. While frustrating, it does seem consistent that Chase is opening "investigations" for this. Hopefully the sheer volume will light a fire under them to issue corrected 1099s.

In better news, Chase went ahead and cancelled my Marriott Biz after I SM'd to request the closure. And I see that the AF has been reversed, so the balance on my account is $0. And I have my free night...

Yes, that’s correct. If your DD’s passport was issued before 16 it has to be a completely new application. No renewals. I’m debating waiting to get my DD’s passport “renewed” until she turns 16 the end of May. That way when it expires it won’t be for ten years instead of five, and she should also be able to renew rather than fill out a new application. Unless she gets married by that time and has a new last name. She’ll probably have to start over again in that case.
