I hate that Google uses 'smart ads'.

Yes I saw it! silly girl. the point being for every obscure article you can find, there are many many many many more for pit bull and cross breeds.

Silly girl?

You have a great evening in Ontario!

While looking through google at pitbull attack articles, it seemed to pull up a lot of the same article. Also, one story that really touched me showed a pitbull that died trying to save it's owner's life from a snake attack. :(

You are a saint CR. If someone was attacking something I love dearly I wouldn't be so nice. I got bit by an alaskan malamute when I was 6 and I ended up with 7 stitches. We should put down all malamutes (and huskies since the look alike). There are plenty of people who are bitten by all types of dogs and the stories do make the papers or tv. Pit bulls are not inherently bad animals it is the way they have been treated. You can take a dog of any breed and turn it into a killer. A dog that is loved and is in a caring home and is treated with respect will not turn out to be a killer.

yea
i have seen many pictures of vicious dogs but they are rotwillers and that is why i get nervous around rotwillers, plus i was almost attacked by one so...but yea dogs are exagurated to be dangerous, but what makes them dangerous is those stupid ppl with no common sense what so ever!!!!

Not true, pit bulls can snap after years of living in a loving home.

No - THAT is not true.

Many stories of the family pet, turns out to be a dog they kept chained in the yard. Any dog kept under the condition many of these 'family pets' were kept, would react exactly the same. Although - youre correct in saying a Pit (and many others) are stronger dogs.

Your obvious hate for Pits (or me) is apparent. But please, Ive read and researched a LOT into this breed. So just as you feel Im promoting them, I feel youre using propaganda media.

Absolutely absurd.

One more thing....

I resucued an abandoned dog. I rescued a living creature. I rescued an addition to our family. I resucued a life.

I didnt walk in looking for a pit bull (or whatever he is!) I went in looking for a dog, and ended up rescuing a living creature, saving a life and getting a wonderful addition to our family.

Your pure 'bread' (your spelling, not mine) dog, that you got from your pet shop, or breeder is all fine and dandy. I find it extremely disturbing that you are adament that this life I saved is worthless.

Pit Bulls (Rotts, Dobies) are dogs - theyre not super-dogs. Theyre not cross breed dog/crazy demon animal - theyre dogs. And amazing ones, at that. :goodvibes

I am not one to think that all dogs of any breed should be banned but after having my nephew attacked by the family pit bull they had for almost 4 years for no reason, I do admit that if a neighbor moved in with one I wouldn't be happy. My SIL had the dog from the time it was a puppy and it was not kept chained or anything like that. It was treated as a member of the family. My nephew was sitting and playing a video game. He shouted out or something like that after the game and the dog, who had been laying quietly by his feet for quite a while jumped up and attacked him. He ended up with more than 700 stitches on his head and face. This dog was not mistreated in any way at any time. He was basically raised with my nephew and had always been a sweet dog until then.

After seeing the result of that and knowing this dog's history I am more leery of the breed than I was before. I had thought it was a situation of if you treat the dog well it won't do that but this situation proved me wrong. They ended up meeting several people who were in similar situations.

Not saying all pits should be banned but I would say that owners of that breed need to exercise extreme caution especially around children.

I'm sad they are banned here in Ontario.
I think they're cute..

I think it's easier for them to hurt people because they're larger.
Poor things just have a bad rap.. :(

Yikes -Im so sorry.

I agree. Its a strong powerful breed, that you cant just bring home and never think about it again. Its an ongoing training we have with Charley. We want 'stop a dime' from him - kwim?

The problem with pitbulls (in my opinion) is that in urban areas, you see a lot of gang-bangers/thug types with these dogs. They are obviously using these dogs as a type of "status" symbol, to show how tough they are. And quite frankly, they are probably training these dogs to be vicious. Now not everyone, but it's more common that you might think.

I live in a not so great part of Chicago, pitbulls and gangs a plenty. I have to be honest, when I'm walking my little guys, I get nervous when I see a pit. It's a shame really, because I do realize it has to do with the owner, but bad owners give these dogs a bad reputation.:sad2:

We live in the suburbs. A snooty suburb at that.

My husband (with Charley) was on a main road in our town, going to the store. This big White Escalade passed him, then he noticed this car do a huge U Turn, in the middle of a very busy road and come flying up on him. My husband gets into the middle turn lane to get to the store, and the Escalade stops next to him, in the middle of Sunday afternoon traffic - on a busy street, rolls his window down and yells to him:

"You got any puppies from that dog???"
My husband said - What?!?
He says again - you got any puppies from that dog?

My husband told him, absolutely not - we adopt. And the guy pulled off.

And he was a 'gang banger/thug' - so yes, I understand what you mean. And it's horribly sad.

Teddy Roosevelt owned a Pit Bull while in office. How this poor creature has turned from Americana - to hoodlums is beyond me. Its so sad, because theyre really wonderful animals.

Ah Cathryn, I'm so sorry. Everytime I see pics of your angel I wonder what people have such a problem with. Any animal can be aggresive if provoked.

Not true, pit bulls can snap after years of living in a loving home.

Apparently, so can English Setters.

I guess I should watch my back.. my 11lb Shih-Tzu might meet a Pit-bull on his next walk and instantly learn how to kill me in my sleep! :confused3

CR - seriously, don't even bother responding. She's just attempting to play devil's advocate using the logic of a 10 year old. No ones uses the terminology she's using (pit bull killer) in a sentence if they want to be taken seriously or thought of as intelligent. I bet her kid is playing online under her username. No point in explaining facts to a child who has been taught things by their parent so utterly wrong and ridiculous.

Any animal with teeth can bite, Can I get some statistics on fatal English setter attacks compared to Pit bulls? lol :lmao:
