I find myself falling into a rut....

I don't know why but I find that I'm going over on points and I tend to not be as good at refraining from snacking and picking as I had been for the past couple of months. I don't buy many snacks anymore, at least not ones I like but I have been drinking a ton of Pepsi which can be a killer and having larger portions at dinner.

How do you stay motivated or how do you keep from snacking and picking?
 
Put down the Pepsi! Step back! ;)

I think everyone feels like this once in awhile. Do your best to have legal treats around - ones that it's ok to pick at, without feeling guilty. And, get rid of the Pepsi!! That alone will sabotage your diet. Have you tried bottles of Crystal Lite yet? I know they're not caffeine, but they taste really good, especially because they're sweetened with Splenda, instead of Aspartame. You could also try Diet Rite - that doesn't taste as bad as some of the other diet colas, again because it's sweetened with Splenda.

When I need to snack, I like things like celery with cream cheese or peanut butter on it. Healthy, and very low carb (and probably low points too?) For lower points, you could use lite cream cheese, and I always buy s.f. peanut butter.

You'll be fine!! Remember to take one day at a time (sometimes I need to take one HOUR at a time!) You can do this!!
 
Wow, that's a tough one. I think that we all get bored with our diet a day routine, and go back to our comfort zone. What do we do about it? First we start gaining back the weight. Then we get depressed about it. Then we start our diet tomorrow for the 5th day this week. Then we decide to take charge again and get back on track. You can do it. Where are you in this cycle? Try eating s very different type of food. Jazz it up a bit and don't fall into another rut. Sometimes, when we are successfully losing weight, we stick to what is working, including the same old boring food! (I am having this problem right now. I am so sick of chicken! So for a while, I'm going vegetarian. I'd rather eat rice and beans than another piece of chicken!) Also, if you can, involve other members of your family in meal preparation. It just seems to help make the meal special, not the actual food. Snacking. Are you snacking out of boredom or hunger? Well, there's your answer to that one!;) Either get busy, or choose better snacks and make sure you have a good breakfast and lunch. I find that I tend to over do dinner if I've skimped on the previous two meals. PM your WISH buddy every day! It does make you feel a bit more accountable, plus you get great feedback and you can focus better on your goal!
You can do it. Get over the bump and out of that rut. Blaze your own trail, and ride off into the unknown ready to conquer whatever comes your way. You can do it!

Hello. :-) I don't know about anyone else, but I cannot drink (much) Pepsi. If I do, I am sure to gain. For some reason, if I drink Pepsi, I might as well just pour it straight onto my gut, because I'll gain from it and it definitely *shows* up not only on my scale but on my stomach. So, if I drink soda, it's Diet. Pepsi was very hard for me to give up. But, I have. I was totally addicted to it. I shouldn't say I have given it up, not completely, but if I do have one, it's very, very seldom. I hope this helps. Have a good day. :D
 

My family should have a soda foutain in our house we drink so much of it. I have to say though although I never intended to stop drinking soda, since I have been drinking water like crazy I havent had to drink the soda. I realized this after 2 weeks. After my first two weeks I realized WOW i havent had soda! I bought some crytal light for my meals and on packet lasted my a week and a half. DRINK WATER...........you will not be thristy. its amazing.
 
I've convinced myself that celery is delicious. Actually the crunch is very satisfying. I drink Crystal Light at home and water at work. For a change of pace, I've brewed up some Celestial Seasonings Herbal teas and iced them-a nice less sweet change from the Crystal Light.
 
Cindy, the very fact that you posted here about this tells me that you want to get back on track and you <i>will</i> get back on track. We have all been where you are right now. The WW's go over points, the low carbers eat too many carbs.

I've eaten portions that are too large and snacked on too many macadamia nuts. We have <b>every one of us</b> been guilty of not being perfect on our plans.

You can do this, you know you can. 86 that regular Pepsi, though. That stuff will kill you...<i>ewwwww sugar</i>!

Cinmell, maybe your diet personality is something like mine. I am a snacker and it just didn't seem to work for me to try to eliminate them from my plan. So I plan a mid-morning snack (usually a piece of fruit) and an evening snack (pudding cup, blue bunny ice cream bar, sometimes more fruit). Sometimes I will also save something from my lunch (usually something like FF yogurt) and have for an afternoon snack. Geez, I am snacking all the time, aren't I?? But it's all within my daily points and if I know the next meal isn't far off, I find it easier to stick to my plan and ignore all the goodies I am tempted with (especially at work!)

If the Pepsi is regular Pepsi, that may be working against you. If I have something with a lot of sugar, it seems to make me crave more. Also, if you are near TOM that may be a problem. I just want to eat all the time the week before TOM!!

We are behind you all the way, Cinmell!! I know you can do this!!
 
You guys are wonderful, thank you! I do drink tons of water, not only because I have to but because I really do like it and I do drink crystal light. I think I just got sick of it b/c I've been drinking them so much the past few months. I find that I'm a snacker out of boredom! Soooooooo when I go shopping today I'll just buy more baby carrots and celery and the mini carmel rice cakes. I'll fill the pantry and fridge with "good" snacks and try to keep moving/busy (my 2 year old will help me with that :D ;)) .
