I did it!!! Purchased the Rebel XT!

Oh wow, I did the deed! I ordered it from B&H photo, should be here sometime this week. It's a big purchase! I also ordered the Tamron 18-200 lens, and Hoya filter, and a memory card. We're going to Disney at the end of April, so I wanted to have time to practice! Thanks for everyone's help! I hope it comes quick, can't wait to have it home.

Hey Daisy, congratulations!! I'm the one who was asking about the Tamron lens yesterday. The only shots I could find on the Tamron lens were www.pbase.com/digitalpix/tamron-18200 and www.pbase.com/showell/tamron_18200_shots I couldn't find the other really good ones that I looked at last night. (sorry)
Anyway, I too took the plunge today and ordered the Tamron 18-200 lens. We're going to Disney next month and I wanted a walkaround lens. I hope it's good.

Sounds like both of us made a big purchase today! I found some pictures taken with the Tamron and to me it looked like a good purchase. When are you going to be in Disney? I'm going to be down there at the end of April. I can't wait to take some pictures with this thing!

I just googled the lens and found a lot of good pictures. Sorry, can't remember the web pages, but if you google and go through about 3 pages of googles, you'll find it.

Easter! Well I'm sure it will be just a busy when I'm there - they are closing MK early one night for grad night. Can't wait to see your pics!

Add me to the list of proud new Rebel XT owners. My Canon Powershot G3 has served me well but I'd just outgrown it. Dont get me wrong, I'm never getting rid of my G3, I even bought a underwater case for it recently.

I'm loving this XT so far. Cant wait to try it out at my 5 year old's T-Ball game tomorrow. I can see I'll be adding a longer lens sometime, but I'll want to up my skills before I spend more $$$.

For what it's worth, there is a $100 rebate on the Rebel XT. Ritz/Wolf Camera has a 10 months same as cash deal running to.
