Don't most parents pick their battles? If a 3 year old wants one particular adult family member to escort him or her to the bathroom, I don't see how allowing that is ruining the child for life
also, do people really not understand that sometimes a poster may paraphrased, or even maybe embellished a story to make a point ... but then again, I do understand that some people find a need to examine every word ever written by posters on the DIS to be archived, verified and authenticated...
Personally, if I witnessed a parent endulge a 3 year old at McDonalds or any other restaurant to prevent a meltdown or tantrum, I would be more relieved to not have to listen to a screaming kid (as most 3 year olds will do on occasion when they don't get what they want) and let them re-establish their authority on the way home or when they get there.... I certainly wouldn't presume to judge the parenting skills of a parent who prevented a public tantrum.
JMHO of course.
