MY HUSBAND IS MAKING ME FLY THIS TIME - 2ND TIME FLYING

I don't like flying...

I like driving .... :car:

So someone give me some advice on flying...
What do I need to do?
What is an exceptable time to be at the airport for an 10:35 am flight?

I REALLY NEED HELP! :shamrock:

Deep breath, you'll be fine.... ;)

Time to pull this one off the shelf again - lots of help from fellow posters!

flying tips

You need to have a government-issued photo ID with you, such as a driver's license or a passport.

You should be at the airport two hours before your flight.

Enjoy your trip!

ohhh.. its going to be great! Look at all the extra time you will have not sitting in a car... (as you have heard, planes are safer than cars!) ;)

As previous poster said be at the airport 2hrs before flight. And make sure you are at the gate 45min prior to your flight. (alot of times they start boarding :30min before flight)

If flying were that dangerous who would want to do it for a living? And you will have a special treat when you land!! Disney!! :cheer2:

You can always ask your MD. for something to take the morning of your flight.

I hate to fly too. I will tell you it is the safest way to travel (much more so than driving), but I know from my own experience that is no consolation.

I have an diagnosed anxiety disorder, so I have an emergency supply of Ativan (the only time I have taken it in the last 6 months was to fly). But that route is not for everyone and it is not a cure all....I still have anxiety when I fly.

I saw a link posted on the boards for a fear of flying online course. It is done by a pilot. I am halfway through, and I have to admit, it is pretty darn good. I have flown quite a bit over the years, so I am familiar with some of what he teaches, but it is helping me.

The course is completely free.

I tried to figure out how to drive rather than fly in September and it won't work for us. So I booked the air. I am stressing already, so I completely understand how you feel.

If the course doesn't help and you aren't a sedative kind of person or cannot take them for whatever reason, I always go to my plan C......grit my teeth, get on, and go. :confused3

My DH is trying to get me to go to Germany in the next few years. I am thinking that probably won't be happening! :teeth: My hubby doesn't understand why I get so scared....heck, I barely understand it myself.

Good luck, and give the pilot's site a try. I have read on here that it helped quite a few people. :teeth:

Xanax and a comforting hand to hold! i can't stand to fly, but for Disney, I'll make an exception. It does help somewhat to just relax and practice deep breathing. Keep telling yourself, I'm on my way to Disney, I'm on my way to Disney. The general rule for time before a flight is 2 hours before, but it could be a little more, little less depending on if you are flying out of an extra busy airport.

I hated flying, everything the airplane did made me nervous! Then I figured it was partly because I didn't know what it was doing and why, so I learned about flying (the easy way, a computer simulator).

Now I am much more at ease unless the plane does something I *know* is not good! ;)

I kind of feel a little bit better but I am still scared!!! The first time I took Spirit.... and it was when no one really knew anything about them....

THANK YOU!!!!

Orlando is a really neat airport. My son told me the airport is the best part of the trip (I hope he didn't really mean that, but you get the idea). I always feel great as soon as we land. It's such a high to have traveled 1200 miles in 2 hours. I always feel sad when I get to the airport to leave. My other son told me he hates to fly, but he just plays his DS and he forgets all about it. The next thing he knows - he's there.

Have a great trip! Bring your lap top and watch a movie or play computer games - great for passing the time!

Max is my favorite cat but his fur is much too long for the summer!

I just had a general exam and told my doc that I have an irrational fear of flying and she gave me my best friend- Xanax!!!

Take time to soak up the entire process. Call me wierd, but I love the whole process of flying. I love the airport, the take offs, the flight, the landing, and the airport on the other side. There are so many neat things you can see and do!

My neighbor told me that her daughter was going to "freak out" when she realized she was so high in the air..... but when the flight happened it went great.

Have a great trip!
