Anyone bring one on board? My son is congested and has a cough. Dr says it may be teething... but will only allow me to do saline nose drops and humdifer because of his age. So since reading about others who were sick on the Magic.. it made me think to bring this with us. I know 3yrs ago DH and I got the flu on RCL.

never brought one, but if you do, bring an extention cord because you have one plug in on the desk top and that is all. If you want to place it on the coffee table or night stand to be by his bed you will need an extention cord.

I'm not sure a humdifier would help much since you will be in such a high humidty environment already.
Not sure I would go if he's ill though. But I don't think I would take a child under age 8 or so on a cruise anyway. Just me.

I don't know about a humidifier but you can ask your stateroom host(ess) for an air purifier. That might help keep the germs away.

FWIW, my little guy is constantly congested and coughing. But he didn't cough one time the 7 days we were on the Magic. And he spent the night before at the hotel coughing his lungs out.

Good luck.

I'm with TV GUY....I'm not sure the humifier will do much more than the already high humidty will already do. I know from experience my daughter does WONDERFUL with the humidty level at sea with her congestion and all. :thumbsup2

Tv guy-

I not saying he will be sick on the cruise. I just know anytime he is congested (teething) they always suggest the humidifier. I wasn't really thinking about the humidity levels though. Good point.

I hope he is well.. and doesn't get sick on vacation. I just know at his age not much more they can do for a cold, except saline drops and humidifier. It's frustrating. We are going to the dr. today just to see if there's anything else we can do. From past experience.. nothing more than saline drops and humidifier.
Thanks! :)

I have to admit I am not a fan of humidifiers....and my wife is. Our kids are 15 and 19 now, but everytime they got a cold she stuck the humidifier in there. I don't think it helped their cold, but I do know that the wallpaper in their bedrooms did eventually fall off the walls from all the humidity!

I just know when my wife has a cold, and sets the humidifier up in our room, it makes ME cough.

A lot of folks don't think about the humidity on Caribbean Cruises. If you've seen any of the threads on hair dryers..........you'd know that. Why dry and style your hair, when 5 minutes outsider your cabin the humidity is going to undo it all. And in my opinion, most women's hair looks a whole lot better left the way god created it.

I wonder if they have any on board to use????? We were hot and stuff in our room so after the first night we asked our cabin stewart if we could have a fan. He said he could not find one but brought us a air purifier that shot out cool air and circulated.... So if they have that I wonder if they just may have a humidifier?? I doubt it but you never know. IF you do not bring one (which would be hard to do) then I would at least just ask him to see...

I will for sure ask for the air purifer. :) Thanks for letting me in on that.

TV guy- I hate the humidifier because it is so hard to keep clean. Who knows if it works. ;) Thanks to all!! :)

I bought a small (I believe battery operated) humidifier from AVON. It was really small. Maybe an ornament box size. We haven't needed it since last year, but it's something if you think you need it.

You can always run a really hot shower and open the door for more moisture.

Also with the sickness. Everywhere you go on DCL there's somebody handing you a wipe or a dispenser with Purell. It's a beautiful thing. I tend to be more on the cautious side--especially with DCL prices. I had a small baggie of some Lysol/Clorox wipes from home. As soon as we go to our room I wipe down every doorknob, flusher, sink know, REMOTE control, closet handle I can see. Maybe it's a little OCD, but we've cruised 3 times--no sickness. I try and do my part and if we get sick, it's not like we didn't try.
