We are in the county about 30 minutes from Baltimore, MD and not sure how much snow we have. Unfortunately we lost our dog on Thursday. She was 13 years old and was a golden retriever/greyhound mix we adopted from our local shelter 9 1/2 years ago. She started acting weird a few weeks ago. She would just go stand in a corner and get stuck because she lost the ability to know how to back up, would just pace in a room and go the same route over and over again not caring if something was in her way and then go to the next room and the cycle would continue over and over until she got tired or fell and couldn't get herself back up, tried to fit through small spaces among other things. We called the vet and she suspected dementia. But, when we actually brought her in she thought it was a lot more than that possibly a brain tumor. She kept her overnight last Thursday into Friday to do bloodwork and run tests to rule out other things but they came back fine so she said a neurologist would have to run tests. For the scans she would need she would have had to be put to sleep but might not wake up and if it was a tumor they would not operate anyway due to her age so we decided not to put her through that and just keep her comfortable at home. During this past week she kept getting worse and worse so we made the difficult decision to have her put down so she would not continue to suffer. We have had a hard time dealing with this and being stuck in the house is not helping. Sorry, I didn't mean to depress everyone. We do want to adopt another dog soon as it will help us to feel better knowing we saved another dog.
