*The Official VILLAS AT DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Group* + LOBBY CONSTRUCTION UPDATES!

Would love some animatronics, picturing those fancy white birds from tiki room 🤣
Exactly!! You are hired today by Disney Imagineering. That’s the thinking we’re all looking for! It’s a bird cage topper. It’s more than just a lobby bar.

The bar’s structure in real life has a very dark stain whereas the rendering showed a much lighter faux wood, it’ll take me a while to adjust, right now my reaction has progressed from I prefer the birdcage & no bar, to well…the rendering looked good…but that dark wood is too dark. Hopefully by the time I next visit in 3 months both bar & tea room will be open & I’ll have grown to like the wood tone 😆.

Someone just posted a picture on FB - said the countertops are going in now.

The old tea room is also still under construction, and we got a glimpse of workers behind the white curtains.

No details have been released on what the remodeled space will be used for in the future.

Here is another great look at the general construction happening in the lobby.

Once complete, the lobby upgrade project will offer a refreshed yet familiar space where guests can once again relax and enjoy the elegance of the Grand Floridian.

Refurbishment started in April and is estimated to be completed by November 2025– we can’t wait to see the finished look.

Grand Floridian Construction: Bar Countertops, Tea Room Windows, & More

In our last update, crews were about halfway done installing countertops for the Birdcage Bar.

Now those are complete, but they are still covered with that dark blue film.

New windows have been installed at the Tea Room. They are arched stain glass windows with images of branches and birds inside.

Currently, there are three installed, and we are unsure whether there will be more placed.

We also got a small sneak peek of some of the decor for the Tea Room, which appears to be some type of branch-shaped based with a glass top.

Upstairs Elevator

Heading to the second floor, the center elevator now has wallpaper surrounding the elevator doors. Like other areas of the lobby, it is a mural depicting a scene with an archway, vines, flowers, and a bird perched on the fence.

There are goldtone sconce lights on the columns placed on each side of the elevator.

Humm… I don’t think they look like glasses at all? Looks almost like a fancy serving dish or centerpieces? They look to big to be glasses, no? 🤔
Im probably just paranoid cuz I really dont want them to take the tea room away and I havent heard them talk about it

Shelving Installed

Shelves have also been installed along the back wall of the bar. While it is a bit hard to see, both ends appear to have several shelves tucked into an open cabinet.

At this point, the middle portion does not have a back. This may be left as open shelving, or it may be closed off to match the ends.

They are a dark brown wood to match other elements of the bar’s design, including the roof and counters.

The blue film still covers the countertops, which were recently installed.
